- Emes' first major work, 'French Windows', was started while he was subsequently a student at Birmingham College of Art and finished while he was unemployed. It was set to the Pink Floyd recording "One of These Days" featuring animated ballet dancers. After it was shown at Birmingham's Ikon Gallery, it was screened on the television program The Old Grey Whistle Test, and thereby came to the attention of Pink Floyd. The band invited Emes to give them a private screening, and afterwards to make films to be projected during performances of The Dark Side of the Moon. The visuals for the Dark Side of the Moon tour were created by the Timeless Films company run by Independent British animator Ian Emes.

Taking the theme of pressure, director David Mallet edited together stock footage of traffic jams, commuter trains packed with passengers, explosions, riots, cars being crushed and various pieces of footage from silent films of the 1920s, most notably Sergei Eisenstein's influential Soviet film Battleship Potemkin, the silent Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde starring John Barrymore, and F.W. Murnau's Nosferatu, a masterpiece of the German Expressionist movement. The video explores the pressure-cooker mentality of a culture willing to wage war against political machines, and at the same time love and have fun (there is also footage of crowds enjoying concerts, and lots of black and white kissing scenes). Top of the Pops refused to show the video due to it containing footage of explosions in Northern Ireland, so a choreographed performance was instead shown.

From those men, Abdo; Adla's fiancé, who was taken also to work for free, in a place where persecution rules. Adla decides to look for her fiancé who hasn't returned to the village yet. But her decision has a cost that leads her to unpredictable situations.

There is the usual mix of violence, attempted rape, forced marriage, theft, set in the 1960's when men were men and rode horses. The tangle of family break-ups, the effect on children, single parenting, narrow minded rural India are all skillfully woven into the story.
