- Dorothy is a film fan from the middle west, who arrives in Los Angeles to visit relatives. Neal, a cashier of a local bank, is her fiance. She shows such interest in motion picture comedians that he impersonates Charlie Chaplin and visits her at the home of her relatives, wrecking the place and stealing her gems. He is arrested and sent to jail for thirty days, during which time she is cured of her infatuation. When released he returns without the disguise and is accepted on the old footing.
- Helen and Nita work in a department store to make ends meet while they search for millionaire husbands. They meet Bill and Hank, who make them reconsider whether they really need millionaires to be happy.
- Charley Wyckham and Jack Chesney pressure fellow student Fancourt Babberly to pose as Charley's Brazilian Aunt Donna Lucia. Their purpose is to have a chaperone for their amorous visits with Amy and Kitty, niece and ward of crusty Stephen Spettigue. Complications begin when Fancourt, in drag, becomes the love object of old Spettigue and Sir Francis Chesney.

- Jimmie receives a wire from his girl telling him her father is taking her to Italy on the Romania in a half hour. He decides to make the boat, but is held up by the customs officials and detained temporarily as a prisoner with a gang of immigrants. Jimmie changes clothes with one of them and makes his getaway. He is then recognized as a dangerous immigrant tabbed for deportation and is ordered deported on the Romania. Molly evades her father and joins Jimmie in the steerage. Later the first class passengers, among whom is Molly's father, look down upon the steerage passengers and witness a marriage ceremony in progress. As the bride and groom turn around at the end of the ceremony they are recognized by Molly's irate father.
- At a magic show put on by Blondini the magician, a member of the audience is invited up to participate. He gets into all sorts of shenanigans, tripping over the stage curtain, sending ducks up through the wrong trapdoors. He can hardly believe his eyes when a girl is sawn in half!
- Ann is one tough cowgirl. After she beats up Hank, her parents send her East to college, hoping she'll come back a lady.
- George and another married man try to get into their apartments at an unconventional hour, without their wives being aware of it. George tries to bluff it when he is caught, but wifey detects a note pinned to the silk stocking he would offer her and he is betrayed. The resulting trouble is finally patched up, but not until after several girls in pajamas have appear.
- A nightclub owner's wife, jealous of his attentions to his star singer, schemes to get her fired.
- Bobby steals a taxi-bandit's car containing a lot of loot; with both the bandit and the police in pursuit of the stolen car, Bobby has a busy time keeping out of their individual and collective reaches. Later, a pretty girl boards Bobby's taxi as a passenger, and the problem becomes more complicated than ever for him, especially as he is determined to maintain his acquaintanceship with his fair passenger at all costs. The girl is a philanthropist bound on an errand of mercy for the Old Ladies' Home. Then Bobby turns loose "Aggravating Mamma" on the talking machine and gets the "flappers of '61" prancing like 1923 debutantes.
- An overambitious ringmaster is deviously plotting to have his circus' owner done away with in a lion cage so he can take over the whole show. However, World War I intervenes and he eventually aids the Allied cause by joining the German army.
- A young girl goes off to an all-girl boarding school. Her boyfriend, who can't bear being away from her, disguises himself as a girl and goes with her to the school.
- At a summer lodge in the high Sierras, Freddie has lost favor in the eyes of Gertie because the great Swiss champion mountain climber, Willie Yodel, is attentive to her. Papa tells Freddie that if he wants to marry Gertie he will have to beat Willie Yodel in a big race up the mountain, but Freddie says he gets dizzy just climbing in bed. Papa then reveals that he was once a great mountain climber, and will be glad to help him. The day of the race comes. They start and after innumerable hair raising adventures Freddie and papa find themselves far behind Willie Yodel. Willie does stop to yodel every so often, but finally a mountain goat who has been following gets tired of hearing this so he butts Willie down the hill. As Willie rolls far below them, Freddie and papa gain courage and start out again. Gertie and the girls at the lodge have been watching the race through the telescope furnished for the purpose. Several of Willie's dirty tricks, such as rolling big rocks down on Freddie and papa, are thus observed, so Gertie changes her affections and begins cheering for Freddie. Willie dons a big bear skin and begins chasing Freddie and papa and they are naturally scared to death. Finally the hunt becomes two sided however, when a hunter who had previously taken several pot shots at Freddie when he was carrying a canoe (advised by papa) on top of his head, sees the "bear" and begins chasing Willie. All manner of thrills at this peculiar chase over mountains of dizzying height and canyons of terrifying depth are witnessed by the girls through the telescope below. Finally, after surmounting seemingly unconquerable obstacles, Freddie and papa scramble up a rocky abutment to the top of the mountain, turn, and yell, informing the half-shot Willie that due to his chasing them, they were scared into winning the race.
- Robert Castleback is in possession of secret papers which could bring a certain prince to power under conditions which would make Castleback a ruling force in Europe. Master crook Arsene Lupin becomes aware of Castleback's bid for power and, in the interests of France, begins a search for the plans. At the same time, German agents are looking for the same papers. When Castleback is found murdered in his apartments with Lupin's visiting card pinned to his breast, suspicion points to the master crook. Following Castleback's murder, his secretary and a hotel porter are found dead. By mysterious messages, Lupin informs the public that he is innocent of the crimes, although the authorities believe him to be guilty. Lupin thereupon sets out to solve the mystery himself. By impersonating an officer of the law and dodging his enemies successfully, he aids the police in catching the real criminal and, after making his identity known, escapes the net thrown out for him.
- Two lovers visit a fortune teller who pictures the husband as a loafer and spendthrift refusing to even carry the hod and making his wife slave. The girl breaks off the engagement. Her father tries to prove the fortune-teller a fake, but through the aid of the hero most of the prophecies come true. The hero learns the truth, after he had paid a fighter to lay down in order to make the last prophecy come true. He puts the other fellow out of business and takes his place. Then follows one of the most laughable prize fights ever screened. It is a screaming burlesque, with each fellow laying down on the job and force the other fellow to knock him out, the hero tries to explain but the other fellow won't believe him. Finally the hero gets his opponent real mad and gets knocked out when he jumps out of the ring and kisses the other fellow's girl. After it is all over, of course he wins the girl who is convinced of her error.
- A young married couple go to the big city to spend their honeymoon. The young farmer thinks that he can become rick quick by investing his money in some oil stocks. In the meantime his wife grows lonely and decides to take a trip to heaven. "Trip to Heaven" is the name of a scenic railway. When hubby returns home without his money he finds the note and proceeds to try to kill himself. He tries shooting, hanging, gas and other methods of destruction, but fails in each. In the end he finds his wife, his money is recovered and the crooks are captured by the police.
- In Harlem, Bud Peagler's "Barbecue Lunch and Poolroom" (the home of Brunswick Stew), also serves as the meeting place and hangout for many citizens and organizations such as 'The Sons and Daughters of The I Will Arise Society," and also Mosby's Blues Blowers. It is also where Roscoe Driggers hangs out. Roscoe claims to be the world's champion cornet player, although he can't play a note, even a sour one. But when the chance to earn $500 for playing his cornet at the big concert held by the "Over the River Burying Society" arises, Roscoe signs up. Roscoe needs $500 in order to buy a beauty shop for his manicurist-fiancée, Zenia Sprowl. Roscoe makes plans for his buddy Sam Ginn, who can play a cornet, to hide under the stage and play while Roscoe fakes it on the stage. But Sam gets taken out by some dudes who have a bone to pick with Roscoe. No sweat, though, as another of Roscoe's musician friends, Willie Trout, sees this and takes Sam's place under the stage....with his saxophone.
- Privacy Robson is a downtrodden husband who takes advice from his friend Florian Slappey. He eventually gets the upper hand after starting divorce proceedings, pretending to have a new girlfriend and refusing to eat anything she cooks him.
- Bobby has been in the air service but has never got off the ground. He is induced to take the place of an American "ace" at a home party. Things become complicated when his host introduces him to an airplane that he has just purchased.
- Eddie plays the role of an Oriental dancer, a vampire, and the hit of the boardwalk of a California beach. He assumes the role to earn money to get home to his sweetheart, the coin having been refused him by a father whose patience and generosity have been exhausted. A pal in the same boat, financially and sentimentally, aids in the deception.
- Glenn (Glenn Tryon), is trying to get into a secret fraternity in order to impress his girlfriend, Fanny (Helen Mann). But his rival is the president of the fraternity and has some very special plans for Glenn. The latter soon finds himself crooning a love song to two tough policeman. and being instructed to convince his blond sweet patootie, Fanny, that he prefers a brunette sweet patootie.
