- The riot grrrl movement is back-or maybe it never went away? New-ager and former frontwoman of the 90s band Vulveeta, Grrrilda Beausoleil is getting the band back together in time for her 50th birthday and hires a film crew to document the whole thing. But a lot has changed in the 20 years since she walked out on her bandmates: San Francisco's dot com boom has edged art and music out of the city, and not everyone in the band is ready to trust Grrrilda to navigate it. Somewhat expectedly, the unresolved tensions between the band members themselves threaten to end their triumphant comeback before it begins. Set in San Francisco and made with a crowd-funded budget, this completely improvised mockumentary is directed by and stars Maria Breaux, whose short film Lucha won the Audience Award at Frameline33. In this tribute to folks who grew up in the punk, riot grrrl, and indie music scenes, Breaux, StormMiguel Florez, J Aguilar, Dakota Billops-Breaux, and Sarah Korda make up the cast with cameos from punk and local icons Lynn Breedlove, Allison Wolfe, Hilary Ronen, and Per Sia in this spirited local comedy.
- While President Reagan sends funds and arms to the Salvadorian military to kidnap, torture, and kill the people of El Salvador, Lucha and Isabella decide their fate. Does love of country trump romantic love?
- MOTHER COUNTRY follows a young African-American man, Dwight Porter, an unwilling criminal on the run. After committing murder, Dwight grows remorseful and leaves his environment with a goal: walk across the United States in search of a former teacher, the one person who believed in him.
- Nora's mother has passed away, causing Nora to fall into a deep depression. When Maggie shows up at Nora's front door for an unexplained interview, both women are compelled to experience a renewed understanding of loss and redemption.
- Sunrise over San Francisco, The Bereft is breaking up with her girlfriend. Afterward, she cleans house, throwing away painful reminders. Tucked under a night stand is a nameless book. After selling it at a used bookstore, she wanders through her neighborhood, stopping at an antique store window, where she sees a beautiful red Victrola. At the bookstore, The Patron enters and finds The Book, and afterward we see her reading at a café. No sooner has she risen to refill a cup of coffee that the book is stolen by The Hustler. The Hustler peddles his art and 'found' objects on the sidewalks of San Francisco. Despite non-stop charm, he claims no customers, until an agitated man, The Broken, hobbles up on a pair of crutches. Gravitating toward The Book, The Broken buys it for less than The Hustler says it's worth, making his way home. On the way, he runs into his neighbor: the woman with the Victrola. Immediately taken by the phonograph, he accompanies her to their apartment building and goes into his adjoining room. He waits. The sound from the Victrola rising, The Broken experiences a moment of pain and triumph. Trying desperately to recreate the sound on his own piano, he bangs the keys and pops medication in a further attempt to squelch a painful musician's bloc. Having been touched in some way by The Book, each character comes to find that even small points of connection can lead to powerful changes of course.
