- During a mission in WWII, the plane of Nikolai Komlev is shot down. He manages to bring his plane down in a remote forest clearing, but far from friendly territory, he faces a relentless test of physical and mental endurance.

In the meantime, Tiche is kidnapped by Mikhail's bitter enemy Assyka who wants to regain his control over Parma, believing that Tiche the lamia is his and his alone.

When Nikolay Mirsky, Deputy Chief Military Prosecutor of the Red Workers' and Peasants' Army, unexpectedly arrives from Moscow, he quickly decides to form a special squad at the Military Prosecutor's Office of the Front to include Rokotov and Svetlana Yelagina, a former investigator for the Dnepropetrovsk Crime Investigation Department. Rokotov and Yelagina are tasked with investigating major cases by acting both at the frontline in the territory of the Kiev Fortified Area, and in the city itself, where rising criminals are joining German subversives in infiltrating the city, while a number of Soviet government representatives are happily profiting from other people's misery and suffering. Rokotov, who was educated at a high school during the reign of the last Russian Tsar, and Yelagina, an ardent Young Communist League member, have to overcome their political and ideological differences before being able to work together, reacting quickly and efficiently to the constant changes in the city. Fighting against both overt and clandestine enemies, Ivan and Svetlana begin to experience a shift in their professional relationship, which grows into real love, possible only in the face of certain death. Meanwhile, Mirsky is holding his own investigation aiming at exposing a spy organization that has been operating in Kiev since the late thirties, but his search leads him unexpectedly to a secret conspiratorial group directly connected to his and Rokotov's pasts..

Their operational record began at the Salsk Steppes and the Don battles and ended in Nazi Germany. Flying PO-2 night bombers or 'mules', these brave female pilots flew harassment bombing and precision bombing missions, which successfully destroyed the enemy's river crossings, fortifications, machinery and manpower. The regiment flew over 23,000 sorties and is said to have dropped 3,000 tons of bombs. The most highly decorated female unit in the Soviet Air Force, each pilot had flown over 1000 missions by the end of the war with twenty-three pilots awarded the Hero of the Soviet Union. Fighting with equal bravery and skill as their male counterparts earned them the name 'Nachthexen' (Night Witches) by the Germans.

- The project is dedicated to one of the most remarkable and dramatic periods in history - the Napoleonic Wars from 1803 to 1815. They were a continuation of the wars originally sparked off by the French Revolution of 1789 and threw Europe's armies into mobilization on an unprecedented scale. The Coup d'Etat on 9 November 1799 put France into the hands of a man endowed with a natural genius as a commander and almost unlimited ambition. The 'old order' of Europe was, at the time, in chaos and disunity, with governments operating independently of others, each engaged in the short-term pursuit of private gain and nationalist policies. These factors, together with the powerful army created by Napoleon, combined to make him lord of the European continent, part of his dream of creating a 'global monarchy', with France at its supreme head.
- When an investigation reaches a dead end due to insufficient evidence, the police force decides to take a different approach. Believing the culprit is still close by, Anna Ivanovna Khvostova, known to her colleagues as 'Colombo in a Skirt', joins the team as an undercover agent. Most importantly, however, it was under their rule that Russian culture developed, and the Russian nation emerged to become the vast transcontinental and multi-ethnic state that exists today.
- Autumn 1941. Miraculously escaping from the Kiev boiler, investigators from the military prosecutor's office Rokotov, Mirsky and Elagina arrive in Kharkov, where evacuation is already in full swing. They have in their hands important information about the activities of the German espionage organization. New circumstances force them to linger in Kharkov. Indeed, together with the enterprises being evacuated, under the guise of refugees, further groups of German saboteurs are moving further east, whose purpose is sabotage and sabotage at military factories. Trying to open the channels for transporting scouts to the Soviet rear, Rokotov and Elagina find out that the organization operating in Kharkov is directly related to the Kiev group that they discovered a few hours before the city was surrendered. And the curator of both of these groups occupies a high post in the Main Military Prosecutor's Office.
