- David Tennant and Michael Sheen star as two actors whose West End play has been put on hold due to Covid-19, but whose director has persuaded them to carry on rehearsing online.
- Tom, Toby, Francis and Graham used to play together in a London band called Germany. Over the past year they've gone their own ways, with varying degrees of success. This is the story of how they meet up in an atmosphere of manipulation and youthful indulgence and allow their individual grudges to be overcome by the genuine and complex enjoyment that only old friends can induce. Then, drunk and happy in the middle of the night, they agree to go Urban Exploring... In a seemingly abandoned youth center surrounded by woods, their exploration is interrupted by the sound of a child crying. They follow the sound to find a terrified little girl in need of rescue, only to realize that in doing so they may very well be as trapped as she is.
- Two great actors were due to put on a play in the West End before the show was put on hiatus due to the pandemic. The director is worried that his big break is about to pass him by so tries to convince his doubtful cast to carry on online.
- With rehearsals due to begin, Simon goes missing. Michael and David embrace the opportunity to skive off. Georgia is due to deliver her novel to her agent and asks David to stand in and help with the kids. Michael is caught breaking the law. Inspired by Georgia's writing, David is tempted to start a new endeavour.
- An actor who was initially involved in the play, comes back to haunt the production. Georgia has sold her novel and tells Anna that she's due to be a birthing partner for her friend. Michael is blackmailed by his neighbour.
- Michael and David are finding it hard to regain each other's trust, so the show's producer, Jo, steps in to try to repair the damage. Meanwhile, Michael gets drawn deeper into the situation with his neighbour.
- Jo drafts in the voice of experience to get Michael and David in line. Georgia shares David's work without him knowing. Michael seeks resolution on what has happened to his neighbour.
- Michael and David are hurt to discover that someone they respect is not a fan of their work. David's plans to go to work and Michael's plans to visit a friend abroad are both scuttled by last-minute UK travel rule changes.
- After discovering the plan, David and Michael are dismayed to learn news about who will be carrying on without them. The guys are also upset to find out how well Simon is doing without them.
- David and Michael spot an opportunity to sabotage the show. David is deflated to discover how people feel about him, while Michael is overjoyed to discover how people feel about him. Anna and Georgia consider their options.
- There is fallout from how David and Michael have behaved. They try to establish who has more value. Georgia, Anna and Lucy discuss a charity evening in which they are due to perform.
- Accepting their fate David and Michael prepare to finally leave their homes. David is finally due to go back to work, Michael thinks he finally has a route to New York. The girls perform their charity sketch.
- David and Michael discover that the studio has now cast two actors. When they discover who has been cast both men are upset as they each have a history with the actor taking their place, one known and one unknown.

- With the project paused, David and Michael decide to try and break the standstill. Meanwhile Simon investigates a new career path, and Georgia's efforts take a turn to the manipulative.
- With the gang reinvigorated, a plan is suggested which could turn failure into glory. But a dangerous question remains: might they need Simon?
- The final send-off is upset by betrayal almost at once. But is there still a way through? And, if so, what's waiting at the other end.
