A narrativa suja e delirante de Reis e Ratos ocorre numa certa antessala do cenário golpista. A história é contada através dos pontos de vista de um grupo de personagens de alguma forma ligados à direita. Esse grupo de pessoas é parte de um plano pra tirar o presidente do governo sem que o uso do dispositivo militar, tanto golpista quando legalista, precise ser empreendido.
