- DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsLiam NeesonRalph FiennesBen KingsleyIn German-occupied Poland during World War II, industrialist Oskar Schindler gradually becomes concerned for his Jewish workforce after witnessing their persecution by the Nazis.Watched this for the 2nd time tonight, and it was so much more emotional for me this time! One of the best movies ever made. We can never let anything like this happen again, ever!
- DirectorDanny LeinerStarsAshton KutcherSeann William ScottJennifer GarnerTwo potheads wake up after a night of partying and cannot remember where they parked their car. This is one of my favorite movies to watch over and over. It's so stupid it's funny. Lots of memorable quotes to use.
- DirectorMikael HåfströmStarsJohn CusackSamuel L. JacksonMary McCormackA man who specialises in debunking paranormal occurrences checks into the fabled room 1408 in the Dolphin Hotel. Soon after settling in, he confronts genuine terror.
- DirectorJon AvnetStarsRobert RedfordMichelle PfeifferStockard ChanningAn ambitious young woman, determined to build a career in television journalism, gets good advice from her first boss, and they fall in love.
- DirectorTim BurtonStarsJohnny DeppFreddie HighmoreDavid KellyCharlie, a young boy from an impoverished family, and four other kids win a tour of an amazing chocolate factory run by an imaginative chocolatier, Willy Wonka, and his staff of Oompa-Loompas.
- DirectorRobert GreenwaldStarsLee ScottDon HunterJon HunterA look at the impact of the retail giant on local communities.
- DirectorLone ScherfigStarsCarey MulliganPeter SarsgaardAlfred MolinaA coming-of-age story about a teenage girl in 1960s suburban London, and how her life changes with the arrival of a playboy nearly twice her age.I was pleasantly surprised by this movie. It's a story I haven't seen done before, quite like this. Set in 1961, a 16 year old girl is enchanted by an older man, who whisks her away to show her what life could be like outside of the boring home and life she currently has. Lots of life lessons packed into 100 minutes. The ending fell a little flat for me, but overall, it was worth watching.
- DirectorDennis DuganStarsAdam SandlerJennifer AnistonBrooklyn DeckerOn a weekend trip to Hawaii, a plastic surgeon convinces his loyal assistant to pose as his soon-to-be-divorced wife in order to cover up a careless lie he told to his much-younger girlfriend.I'm not a fan of Adam Sandler, but this was a funny movie! Jennifer Aniston was spectacular in this!
- DirectorJoseph RubenStarsJulianne MooreDominic WestChristopher KovaleskiAfter being told that their children never existed, a man and woman soon discover there is a much bigger enemy at work.An ok movie. Too many holes left at the end for me to fully appreciate the writing. The characters weren't fleshed out enough for me. It wasn't too bad to watch, but I was hoping for more explanations of certain situations, and questions to be answered by the end.
- DirectorD.J. CarusoStarsAlex PettyferTimothy OlyphantDianna AgronAliens and their Guardians are hiding on Earth from intergalactic bounty hunters. They can only be killed in numerical order, and Number Four is next on the list. This is his story. Not a bad movie. Special effects were pretty cool; nothing too spectacular. Storyline was ok; could have explained a bit more. The ending wasn't weak, however it could have been done without leaving room for a sequel. I would have preferred it to have a solid ending.
- DirectorJake KasdanStarsCameron DiazJason SegelJustin TimberlakeA lazy, incompetent middle school teacher who hates her job, her students, and her co-workers is forced to return to teaching to make enough money for breast implants after her wealthy fiancé dumps her.
- DirectorJoe NussbaumStarsAimee TeegardenThomas McDonellDeVaughn NixonA group of teenagers get ready for their high school prom.
- DirectorShawn KuStarsMichael SheenMaria BelloKyle GallnerA married couple on the verge of separation are leveled by the news their 18-year-old son committed a mass shooting at his college, then took his own life.Just got done watching this movie, and I don't even have the words to describe how I'm feeling. Every parent's worst nightmare. Heart-wrenching. I can't say that it was well written, but then how do you even begin to "write" a story like this? Give your children a hug, tell them you love them, because you just never know.
- DirectorRob ReinerStarsMichael DouglasAnnette BeningMartin SheenA widowed U.S. President running for reelection and an environmental lobbyist fall in love. It's all above-board, but "politics is perception," and sparks fly anyway.Extraordinary movie about an extraordinary president. I would vote for Andrew Shepherd right now if I had the chance. The writers did a fantastic job of portraying the game of politics, the intricacies of a blossoming new relationship, and the balance between the two. Douglas was phenomenal in this role, as was Annette Benning. I came away from it feeling energized in several ways. I highly recommend this movie to anyone and everyone. I would even recommend that it be shown in civics courses in high school and college - not for the love story, which I really felt was secondary to the story about the workings of government.
- DirectorKevin SmithStarsShannen DohertyJeremy LondonJason LeeBoth dumped by their girlfriends, two best friends seek refuge in the local mall. That's an hour and a half that I'll never get back.
- DirectorM. Night ShyamalanStarsMark WahlbergZooey DeschanelJohn LeguizamoA science teacher, his wife, and a young girl struggle to survive a plague that causes those infected to commit suicide.M. Night didn't quite knock it out of the park with this one. It was an ok movie, but not nearly as chilling as his others. I still love the fact that he films in my area; that will never get old. Seeing the zip code of the town I grew up in on one of the maps was a pleasant surprise.
- DirectorMartin BrestStarsAl PacinoChris O'DonnellJames RebhornA prep school student needing money agrees to "babysit" a blind man, but the job is not at all what he anticipated. As someone who is not a fan of Al Pacino, I put off watching this movie for the longest time. Now I'm kicking myself for that decision. This was a fantastic movie! I'm still no fan of Pacino, but I did get to see a different side of him that was likable. This movie was a roller coaster ride of sadness and humor, hope and despair ... and I loved every up and every down. My only disappointment was how harsh Pacino's character was; he was downright horrible most of the time. I think it could have been toned down a bit, and still have him be a character with whom we could empathize. 8 stars.
- DirectorWill GluckStarsMila KunisJustin TimberlakePatricia ClarksonA young man and woman decide to take their friendship to the next level without becoming a couple, but soon discover that adding sex only leads to complications. This movie was really good! I wasn't sure if I'd like it or not, as I'd never seen anything with Justin Timberlake previously, but he's a really good actor! Wow! The chemistry between the leads was fantastic! I loved the writing. There were quite a lot of moments that made me laugh out loud, and even a few moments that made me tear up (no tissues needed, but definite watery eyes). 8/10 for me!
- DirectorPenny MarshallStarsRobert De NiroRobin WilliamsJulie KavnerThe victims of an encephalitis epidemic many years ago have been catatonic ever since, but now a new drug offers the prospect of reviving them.Touching movie about patients in a "chronic hospital" (mental institution) who are temporarily healed by an awkward neurologist. It's a true story, but it's done in a way that keeps your attention throughout the entire movie. A little dull in spots, but all in all a great movie. I highly recommend this one.
- DirectorFrank CoraciStarsKevin JamesRosario DawsonLeslie BibbA group of zoo animals decide to break their code of silence in order to help their lovable zookeeper find love, without opting to leave his current job for something more illustrious.Cute movie. Kids (and kids at heart) will love this one. The effects were really good, for a talking animal movie. Kevin James did what he does best ... physical comedy. A good movie to kill the time and put a smile on your face.
- DirectorOlivier MegatonStarsZoe SaldanaMichael VartanCallum BlueA young girl in Bogotá witnesses her parents' murder and grows up to be a stone-cold assassin.I could barely peel myself away from the tv for the almost 2 hours this movie ran! Fantastic action! Strong leading lady! Great cast in general. Fast paced, with some nice slow points. This one left me wanting a sequel.
- DirectorAdam McKayStarsWill FerrellMark WahlbergDerek JeterTwo mismatched New York City detectives seize an opportunity to step up like the city's top cops, whom they idolize, only things don't quite go as planned.Bad bad bad movie. The only redeeming quality was the ending credits, where a Ponzi Scheme is explained, along with a few other interesting financial facts. Wahlberg was good and made me laugh a few times. Ferrell just creeped me out.
- DirectorJames L. BrooksStarsJack NicholsonHelen HuntGreg KinnearA single mother and waitress, a misanthropic author, and a gay artist form an unlikely friendship after the artist is assaulted in a robbery. Not the best movie. Nicholson was creepy. Hunt's acting wasn't good. Kinear was the best part of this movie. And the dog. It was also way too long, at 2 hours and 20 minutes. What were they thinking? Only watch if you've got time to kill and want to bore yourself to sleep.
- DirectorTodd PhillipsStarsZach GalifianakisBradley CooperJustin BarthaThree buddies wake up from a bachelor party in Las Vegas, with no memory of the previous night and the bachelor missing. They make their way around the city in order to find their friend before his wedding.Funny, but could have been better. Great movie to watch if you just want to laugh. Occasionally you feel for the characters - just enough to keep you rooting for them.
- DirectorAndy FickmanStarsKristen BellOdette AnnableSigourney WeaverWhen a young woman realizes her brother is about to marry the girl who bullied her in high school, she sets out to expose the fiancée's true colors.Cute, but predictable. There were a few good laughs from this one, but a lot of slow moments, as well. The wedding rehearsal was just plain awkward and somewhat annoying. The very end was so predictable, I knew it was coming from the very beginning.
