- DirectorErnest R. DickersonStarsAndrew LincolnJon BernthalSarah Wayne CalliesAs the farm is overrun by walkers, the group fights to escape. One of the only good episodes from season 2. The season 2 finale gets my number 5 spot over Triggerfinger. I did a lot of thinking on this one, and thought it was a great but not top 5 great back when I first made this list. However in retrospect this was one of the best. The zombies hear a gunshot and swarm the farm, CHAOS EVERYWHERE, the groups is panicing and fear is in the air, and Hershal is going to defend his farm no matter what. This episode mainly made my top 5 cause it signaled the end of the group staying on the farm and are forced to move on, THANK GOD!!!
- DirectorFrank DarabontStarsAndrew LincolnJon BernthalSarah Wayne CalliesDeputy Sheriff Rick Grimes awakens from a coma, and searches for his family in a world ravaged by the undead. The pilot episode gets my number 4 spot easily. The first episode is still the best in the series. Not only for introducing me to my new favorite TV show but for being spot on with the comics. Besicly a simple story as is all zombie senarios, the world has gone to S**t and Rick must lead a group to survive in this Wasteland. This episode get my number 2 spot for being the best example of a pure good TV episode. This show isnt going anywhere for a LONG time
- DirectorTricia BrockStarsAndrew LincolnSarah Wayne CalliesLaurie HoldenRick runs into a familiar face when he, Carl and Michonne head back to Rick's hometown for more guns to fortify themselves against The Governor. One of the more iconic episodes of The Walking Dead, Clear gets my number 3 spot with ease, passing the series pilot. Clear explained and wrapped up the sub plot of Morgan and his son(who we havent seen since episode 2 of the show), and explains what happened to them with incredible detail and you have true emotion towards them. Also the carnival of deathtraps was also a nice touch, and brought out some fresh ideas for future defense against the Walkers. What mainly put this episode in my top 5 was the storytelling, the daliogue and actually giving Michonne feelings and a character, and what they were doing in the town, just to get some simple items that had meaning and reminded the survivors of the old world.
- DirectorGuy FerlandStarsAndrew LincolnSarah Wayne CalliesLaurie HoldenLori goes into labour when the prison comes under attack. Michonne tries to convince Andrea to leave Woodbury.I dont think many people would argue that season 3 is SO much better then season 2. One of the main reasons was this episode here. Killer within gets my number 2 spot, cause this episode had it all, Zombies, slaughter, storytelling, character development (something the series was lacking), and emotion. This was the complete package. The zombies are running through the prison, but the survivors are wondering how they got loose, then the alarm goes off, the survivors are seperated, T-Dog is killed, and there is a panic among all of them. While Rick goes to stop the zombies and turn off the alarm Lori, Maggie, and Carl are trapped in a sealed room but then Lori goes into labor. She cant have the baby and must be c-sectioned knowing that she will die. She tells Carl she loves him, says her goodbyes and the baby is born, Lori passes and Carl must do something no 14 year old should ever have to do, he has to put his own mom down for good. Rick and the others kill the inmate that caused the incident only to find out it was the inmate that Rick didnt kill in a past episode and allowed to be "trapped" and killed by the zombies or so he thought. Rick comes back and hears the baby crying, not seeing Lori and knowing she is dead he collapses in disbelief knowing it was all his fault. A tear jerker for me.
- DirectorGreg NicoteroStarsAndrew LincolnSarah Wayne CalliesLaurie HoldenWhile Rick decides the fate of Michonne, Merle takes matters into his own hand. When Killer Within aired, I stated that it would take a serious push for another episode to dethrone it from the number one spot. Well this was the episode that did. Season 3 Episode 15 This Sorrowful Life is my new number 1 for many reasons. Pacing of the plot, character interactions, Michonne and Merles conversations, many zombie deaths, including the fiberwire choke kill by Michonne(which was epic), and the ending of the episode which had me crying, Merle wanted to give the Governer Michonne but has a change of heart and he now wanted to do good and take out the Governer once and for all but is killed, and Daryl comes only to find a Zombie Merle, Daryl is devestated, and crying, and has to take him down. This epsiode shows what Merle once was, to what he has become, and he was changing for the better and wanted to make up for all the mistakes he made, and redeam himself. In the end he was a changed man, and we wont forget you. R.I.P Merle Dixon
