- DirectorMartin CampbellStarsDaniel CraigEva GreenJudi DenchAfter earning a licence to kill, secret agent James Bond sets out on his first mission as 007. Bond must defeat a private banker funding terrorists in a high-stakes game of poker at Casino Royale, in Montenegro.Undoubtedly saved the Bond franchise, while at the same time providing several new characters and subplots in which to continue to prosper. James Bond became cool again, without relying to do the same thing over and over again with lame car chases. You also sense a stronger bond with the characters that appears more real. Its really the first time the Bond Series has tried to connect the films and make the relationships with the characters more meaningful. Vespa for example, might be a top 5 most important bond lady with how she contributes to Bonds development as an agent and how he sees things.
- DirectorTerence YoungStarsSean ConneryUrsula AndressBernard LeeA resourceful British government agent seeks answers in a case involving the disappearance of a colleague and the disruption of the American space program.First Bond film to start the franchise, it provided a template which has been used by every single James Bond film since then. Even throughout the years in the franchise, it is a fundamental work of art, both as a film and simply another Bond film. Sean Connery really pushes the character of James Bond to its peak.
- DirectorMartin CampbellStarsPierce BrosnanSean BeanIzabella ScorupcoWhen a powerful secret defense system is stolen, James Bond is assigned to stop a Russian crime syndicate from using it.Arguably the best Bond film of all time. Much like Casino Royale, it rebooted a dead franchise with a new cast and amazing characters. Not to mention probably the most surprising plot twist in the Bond franchise. We see up close problems within MI6, its history, and even a good look at how 00 agents work together. Alec might be at least a top 5 villain in the Bond series. Golden Eye introduced a new era of technology without being cheesy like Moonraker. The success of this film can be also shown in the other media content that was distributed after the film, most notably the video games that everyone remembers. Definitely Pierce's best Bond film. Despite many hiccups in his part in the films, people kept watching those films because of this masterpiece.
- DirectorTerence YoungStarsSean ConneryRobert ShawLotte LenyaJames Bond willingly falls into an assassination plot involving a naive Russian beauty in order to retrieve a Soviet encryption device that was stolen by the organization Spectre. This film has been one of the more serious films in the franchise due to all the content in the plot. We have Spectre which coincidentally was used for many films in the Bond franchise as well as the fact that after many years the organization is being revived. Another good Sean Connery piece with a couple of interesting villains.
- DirectorLewis GilbertStarsRoger MooreBarbara BachCurd JürgensJames Bond investigates the hijacking of British and Russian submarines carrying nuclear warheads, with the help of a K.G.B. agent whose lover he killed. One of the more unique plots in the series, which was done without making the plot too cheesy. The success of the film, I believe was shown well with how a notable character was allowed to be in more than one film of the franchise. Clearly a unique film, and further shown by how unsuccessful Moonraker became throughout time. A film that tried to do something neat with a unique plot, but yet failed. Its a good depiction of a film gone crazy, but just the right amount of crazy. The idea that the main villain had this interesting concept of making his own world and having his own in his underwater lair. Ironically, depicted in many films making fun of the movie.
- DirectorGuy HamiltonStarsSean ConneryGert FröbeHonor BlackmanWhile investigating a gold magnate's smuggling, James Bond uncovers a plot to contaminate the Fort Knox gold reserve. One would not be wrong to consider this the best Bond film in the series. The rankings really have more to do with contribution with the legacy of Bond while also considering how much they were loved. Gold Finger was definitely an awesome film. It had its own plot, and villains that made for a unique Bond film that could never be replicated. Its interesting how some films act as part of the whole or their own films. This is one of those that was definitely its own. The villain has his own style which is often referred to throughout the years... even his henchmen is a baller. The plot in which the villain is trying to make his own gold more valuable to the world is interesting due to the fact that during this half century there was much fluctuation in the value of gold and silver. Though it has many concepts that contribute to the Bond franchise I would have to say it also has a few things that really hurt the legacy in that its always kind of a joke that must be found in every Bond film. All I have to say, is you know what I mean when we are referring to the main Bond woman's name in the film. Also... the ending was too cheesy. Nowadays you can't get away with that, no matter how much suave and style you have in your film.
- DirectorJohn GlenStarsRoger MooreMaud AdamsLouis JourdanA fake Fabergé egg recovered from the body of a fellow agent leads James Bond to uncover a jewel smuggling operation led by the mysterious Octopussy, and a plot to blow up a NATO air base. The title doesn't help the importance of the film. However, as a Cold War film, it clearly represents what was going on at that time. One of the most interesting parts of the film is when the Russian commander is showing how easy the Russian tanks could roll through Europe within a week. This was a legitimate concern to the western governments, including the military individuals. Again... just like the woman's name in Gold Finger, the name doesn't help the Bond legacy, however, it has so much going on. We see again, a stronger look at how MI6 works in the bond world, as well as the fear of what a nuclear attack would do. Not to mention... it feels like all of Bond's friends die in this film.
- DirectorPeter R. HuntStarsGeorge LazenbyDiana RiggTelly SavalasBritish agent James Bond goes undercover to pursue the villainous Ernst Stavro Blofeld, who is planning to hold the world to ransom. One of the more serious Bond films of the series. I feel like after the film, the bond franchise didn't really know a straightforward bond direction. It definitely feels like it was trying to go to a route where the bond films and characters were more connected. Only film done by Lazenby, and he did a decent job. Definitely a more emotional James Bond film that actually worked.
- DirectorLewis GilbertStarsSean ConneryAkiko WakabayashiMie HamaJames Bond and the Japanese Secret Service must find and stop the true culprit of a series of space hijackings, before war is provoked between Russia and the United States.A nice contribution to the Bond series against Spectre. Bond and Ninjas vs the Spectre headquarters. Enough said. One of those Bond films with a pretty good battle.
- DirectorSam MendesStarsDaniel CraigJavier BardemNaomie HarrisJames Bond's loyalty to M is tested when her past comes back to haunt her. When MI6 comes under attack, 007 must track down and destroy the threat, no matter how personal the cost. One of the curved balls thrown at the Bond fans. It showed connection to Craig's other films while at the same time showing a progression towards future projects. Craig's films never end the way you think they will, and this one definitely is like that. Probably the least predictable of the Bond films, it definitely tries to put an emotional tone. I think there is some connection throughout the last two Bond's of MI6's where they have a history of choosing the lesser of the two evils and later suffering the consequences for them. In this film, you definitely see that they do.
