- DirectorStanley KubrickStarsJack NicholsonShelley DuvallDanny LloydA family heads to an isolated hotel for the winter where a sinister presence influences the father into violence, while his psychic son sees horrific forebodings from both past and future. The first time i saw The Shining, i was so shocked over how good a movie could be i actually just stared into the empty screen for about 15 minutes after the movie ended. After watching this movie, i knew Stanley Kubrick definently was the best director of all time. Jack Nicholson delivers one of the best performances of all time, Shelley Duvall delivers an extremly underrated performance, Danny Lloyd delivers the best child performance of all time, and Scatman Crothers delivers an excellent supporting performance! Kubricks cinematography and his many long shots makes this one of the best looking movies of all time, and the ending of this movie still have people discussing to this day!
My absolute favorite movie of all time, and i honestly NEVER think ANY movie will top this movie!
10/10 - DirectorStanley KubrickStarsRyan O'NealMarisa BerensonPatrick MageeAn Irish rogue wins the heart of a rich widow and assumes her dead husband's aristocratic position in 18th-century England.Overlooked masterpiece from Kubrick right here. In fact The Shining, and Barry Lyndon share the top spot, i can't pick which of them is the better movie, because these two movies in my opinion are absolutely perfect as all of my first 10 movies here are, but i also have the most love for Kubrick, and these two movies. Fantastic acting, fantastic cinematography, fantastic music, the list goes on! Everything in this movie is perfect! Too bad it is too slow for the mainstream audience and they have dragged it’s imdb rating way down from where it should be! A must see for every film lover who actually have an interest for everything that goes into making a perfect movie! Among the best cinematography of all time in this movie right here people!
10/10 - DirectorStanley KubrickStarsKirk DouglasRalph MeekerAdolphe MenjouAfter a failed attack on a German position, a general orders three soldiers, chosen at random, court-martialed for cowardice and their commanding officer must defend them.
- DirectorFrancis Ford CoppolaStarsAl PacinoRobert De NiroRobert DuvallThe early life and career of Vito Corleone in 1920s New York City is portrayed, while his son, Michael, expands and tightens his grip on the family crime syndicate.Well what can i say? I know i put the Godfather Part 2 over The Godfather. Not because i think it is better than the first (they are equally as good as each other!), but because i prefer this movie over the first. Al Pacino delivers one of the 15 best perfomances of all time in this movie! The rest of the cast is also excellent! The script as well is excellent, and this movie is an absolute MUST SEE for everyone who have the slightest interest in film! Got the recognition it has deserved as well which for many of my favorite movies didn’t happen..
10/10 - DirectorSidney LumetStarsHenry FondaLee J. CobbMartin BalsamThe jury in a New York City murder trial is frustrated by a single member whose skeptical caution forces them to more carefully consider the evidence before jumping to a hasty verdict.I will admit that i always kind of have had a problem with making myself sit down and watch black & white movies. And i did with this one as well. But holy shit, is this movie a masterpiece! Few other movies have held me this interested, shocked, and have had such insanely good tension as this movie! And when 97% of the movie only happens in one room i have to say that is quite an accomplishment! I have always loved the law and movies that have concepts and good and accurate executions around this, and this is the absolute best of the best even to this day!
10/10 - DirectorDavid LynchStarsAnthony HopkinsJohn HurtAnne BancroftA Victorian surgeon rescues a heavily disfigured man who is mistreated while scraping a living as a side-show freak. Behind his monstrous façade, there is revealed a person of kindness, intelligence and sophistication.
- DirectorRobert EggersStarsRobert PattinsonWillem DafoeValeriia KaramanTwo lighthouse keepers try to maintain their sanity while living on a remote and mysterious New England island in the 1890s.
- DirectorDavid LynchStarsJack NanceCharlotte StewartAllen JosephHenry Spencer tries to survive his industrial environment, his angry girlfriend, and the unbearable screams of his newly born mutant child.
- DirectorStanley KubrickStarsTom CruiseNicole KidmanTodd FieldA Manhattan doctor embarks on a bizarre, night-long odyssey after his wife's admission of unfulfilled longing.Kubrick's, and one of the most underrated movies of all time! This movie is perfect! This is in fact also the master Kubricks last movie. And of course he managed to make yet another masterpiece before he unfortinently dissapeared from us.This movie definently contains Tom Cruises absolute best performance, it has, of course amazing cinematography as it always was in Kubricks movies, and all of the actors are amazing in this movie! They deliver so much tension, and also the cinematography delivers extremly much tension in itself, from the creepy shots, dark shots, slowly moving shots, etc etc. An absolute must see for lovers of film, and one of Kubricks best movies!
10/10 - DirectorIngmar BergmanStarsBertil GuvePernilla AllwinKristina AdolphsonTwo young Swedish children in the 1900s experience the many comedies and tragedies of their lively and affectionate theatrical family, the Ekdahls.
- DirectorSam MendesStarsKevin SpaceyAnnette BeningThora BirchA sexually frustrated suburban father has a mid-life crisis after becoming infatuated with his daughter's best friend.People seem to have started to think movie has dated badly.. I can't understand why people think so! This movie is just as good if not better in the world we live in today! Nostalgic for me, who is born in 2000 and grew up with a world which was kind of like this. The casting is fantastic in this movie, especially with Kevin Spacey (who i hope people can just respect as an actor and not fuck up his career just because he made a mistake 30 years ago...... Keep the artist from who the artist is! Kevin spacey is one of the most amazing actors alive people!) in the leading role, delivering one of his absolute best performances to this day! the supporting cast is also really really good. The story is the best part of this movie though, so incredibly touching and such a fantastic point behind this movie!
10/10 - DirectorJoel CoenEthan CoenStarsWilliam H. MacyFrances McDormandSteve BuscemiMinnesota car salesman Jerry Lundegaard's inept crime falls apart due to his and his henchmen's bungling and the persistent police work of the quite pregnant Marge Gunderson. This movie is just absolutely incredible when it comes to just about everything about it! All the movies that The Coen brothers have made is amazing movies, but this is the absolute best one! This movie has some of the best and most beautiful cinematography from the 1990's, Frances McDormand delivers her best performance of all time (except for Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri in my opinion), and the supporting cast is just incredible in this movie! This movie is in my opinion is just a little bit overlooked, which is a shame because i think this is a movie about everyone would have enjoyed. Recommend checking out ALL of The Coen Brothers movies actually, but would start with this one!
10/10 - DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsSamuel L. JacksonKurt RussellJennifer Jason LeighIn the dead of a Wyoming winter, a bounty hunter and his prisoner find shelter in a cabin currently inhabited by a collection of nefarious characters. Most of the people who see this list will probably think that putting The Hateful Eight as my favorie Tarantino movie, and as my 6th favorite movie of all time is a weird pick. What i find so incredibly genius about this movie is how Tarantino delivered such an amazing and a masterpiece of a movie just through having most of the plot only happen in one room, and still there happens so much! You can probably look at 12 angry men and the hateful eight side by side, but the difference of the two is that this movie has in my opinion just as genius dialogue, and this is just another movie that kept me/keeps me glued to the screen for it's entire runtime, which is impressive, when the movie is as long as it is! Amazing performances, excellent writing, excellent cinematography, and i really can't figure out why this movie is such an underrated gem... Maybe not such good of a movie in the average moviegoers eyes i guess..
10/10 - DirectorMartin McDonaghStarsFrances McDormandWoody HarrelsonSam RockwellA mother personally challenges the local authorities to solve her daughter's murder when they fail to catch the culprit.I Was highly looking forward to watching this movie, and when i finally got to see it in the cinemas in Norway in January 2018, i was blown away by this movie! It was even better than what i was expecting, and it is one of the best cinematic experiences i have had to watch this movie in the cinema! Frances McDormand delivered her absolute best performance of all time in this movie, Sam Rockwell delivered his best performance yet in this movie, and both of them won an oscar for this movie. The really shitty part though is that this movie didn't win best writing, which went to the waaaay overrated Get Out instead... That dissapointed me a lot.Anyways, this is probably the best movie that have come out since The Hateful Eight in 2015, and even maybe the best movie since Eyes Wide Shut in 1999. This movie also looked so amazing, and every shot had so much incredible craft behind it! This movie also has one of the best monologes in movie history, when Frances McDormands character Mildred talks to the deer, and it was just such a sad and true monologe.
