Films watched in 2016
First time I shall use a rating system for how biased I felt I was while watching...
The bias is towards some of the thoughts and ideas I had, as opposed to thinking about the film in a more objective standard.

I think I've finally grasped with every possibility that looking at a film or media I used to really like, I could possibly like it less after awhile of leaving it be.
Upon further inspection, I do find some fault with the film, but I still find it fantastic regardless, though it explains the score going from 10/10 to 9/10.
I still quite like it and quite like the questions it asks about memory and of how much of us is made of those memories, though I personally think that a lot of the film should be judged more on how it delivers it and... it currently confuses me a bit. Not nearly enough to be put off like my parents were, just enough to confuse me somewhat.
I'm also ditching the "Personal bias" whatever because *beep* those. - DirectorCasper KellyStarsKen DeLozierTara OchsKatelyn NaconA series of montages that parodies the introductory title sequences of generic 70s, 80s and 90s TV shows of various genres slowly turns into an absurdist meta slasher and then the parody becomes even weirder.Very, very weird....

I think I need to watch it again just to get myself used to the pacing. - DirectorNeal WuStarsZijian DongCherry NganPo-Hung LinAfter her car breaks down on a rainy night, Miss Liang enters a nearby coffee shop called Cafe 6. Was going to watch Erased, but I was late to buy a ticket and was thus charged seven dollars extra if I'd wanted to buy the same ticket. (Which apparently has never happened to anyone else in my family)
Regardless, I watched it and... I find myself feeling veeeeery mixed about the film.
Like, there're parts I'm fine with, parts I kinda like, parts I really didn't like, parts I was kinda disliking.
So... just a giant spectrum of it all.
My overall rating is 5/10, that I can pin down for certain, but it... gets better as you watch it...? I mean, I'd never been a big believer of that notion; really, the whole film damn well needs to work, otherwise the rest might not fit very well with it and boy, is this ever an example of that.
So...... yeah. - DirectorWes AndersonStarsRalph FiennesF. Just... kill me right now because this is just achingly beautiful and almost drifting, in a way... just, it makes a lot of sense considering the characters' circumstances and the title of the movie. - DirectorAndreas DalsgaardStarsJan GehlRob AdamsRobert DoyleHalf of the human population lives in urban areas. By 2050, this will increase to 80%. Life in a megacity is both enchanting and problematic. Today we face peak oil, climate change, loneliness and severe health issues due to our way of life. But why? The Danish architect and professor Jan Gehl has studied human behavior in cities through four decades. He has documented how modern cities repel human interaction, and argues that we can build cities in a way, which takes human needs for inclusion and intimacy into account. 'The Human Scale' meets thinkers, architects and urban planners across the globe. It questions our assumptions about modernity, exploring what happens when we put people into the centre of our planning.Watched on 2 September at home on the TV.

Got interrupted by my mum with regards to the film; I seriously need to find out what's wrong with my laptop's disc drive so that I have better control of my viewing environment again.
Currently not a movie I necessarily love, at least not right now... but I think it's at least got enough going for it that all things considered, I'll try to watch it a second time around. - DirectorRichard LinklaterStarsEthan HawkeJulie DelpyAndrea EckertA young man and woman meet on a train in Europe, and wind up spending one evening together in Vienna. First Thai film that I'd watched; man, these past few weeks have been a lot of firsts, haven't they? And I'm about to watch the first anime- well not really, there was The Girl Who Leapt Through Time, but this'll be the first one in recent memory, so... yeah.
Maybe I'll find myself in a new place too, I dunno. - DirectorMakoto ShinkaiStarsRyunosuke KamikiMone KamishiraishiRyo NaritaTwo teenagers share a profound, magical connection upon discovering they are swapping bodies. Things manage to become even more complicated when the boy and girl decide to meet in person.Watched at Filmgarde Bugis+ on 12 November; basically the first anime-y movie I'd watched... honestly ever, as far as I recall (At least in recent memory)
That was on, I think, 13 November, so... yesterday.
I'd given it a fair bit more thought and wound up going back to shift it to an 8/10, after having given it a 7/10 after giving it an 8/10 from the humour of the first act because... well, I realised that as much as my feelings are more... mixed about the first act, I realised that the tone and mood of it (Plus the title sequence and the sense of "covering" what happens in the entire movie) helps with the impact of the second and third acts, which are the acts I actually like much more, so... yeah.
Basically, the argument is that for what it's worth and for the premise + Not much in the way of conceptualising what the premise would do for the characters, I would argue that it's still a pretty well constructed film that does well in drawing you into the world that it's created regardless.
Also, there IS another anime movie I'd watched in recent memory, which was Ponyo. And Tokyo Godfathers' first ten minutes before the f^cking disc/maybe disc drive just gave up on me. - DirectorTaika WaititiStarsSam NeillJulian DennisonRima Te WiataA national manhunt is ordered for a rebellious kid and his foster uncle who go missing in the wild New Zealand bush.Fallen behind in my lists, Jesus Christ.
Watched this at The Projector on November...
Except no because I watched it on 3 December.
*beep* hell, absolutely loved the movie when I was watching it and I didn't remember when I watched it, though I guess that's what hoarding movie tickets is for.
But yeah, absolutely loved it when I was watching it, at the least. Not sure what I'll feel on a second run, but the general feeling is that I'll still be able to appreciate it regardless.
