Masterpieces that aren't often considered, rightfully so, because of a few flaws, but the overall story and film as a whole is one. Often times, with flawed masterpieces, you have to change the way you look at them or view them from a different angle to see them better.

- DirectorMichael MannStarsTom CruiseJamie FoxxJada Pinkett SmithA cab driver finds himself the hostage of an engaging contract killer as he makes his rounds from hit to hit during one night in Los Angeles.Falls apart in Act III, but the first 2 are flawless and brilliant. 9/10
- DirectorJoe CarnahanStarsLiam NeesonDermot MulroneyFrank GrilloAfter their plane crashes in Alaska, six oil workers are led by a skilled huntsman to survival, but a pack of merciless wolves haunts their every step.Neeson's best performance as a man questioning his existence and purpose while battling nature. People got too caught up in the expectation of action, when this is a philosophical allegory of life and death. 9/10
- DirectorJames MangoldStarsJoaquin PhoenixReese WitherspoonGinnifer GoodwinA chronicle of country music legend Johnny Cash's life, from his early days on an Arkansas cotton farm to his rise to fame with Sun Records in Memphis, where he recorded alongside Elvis Presley, Jerry Lee Lewis, and Carl Perkins.Very underrated movie with perfect lead performances by Phoenix and Witherspoon. 9.10
- DirectorTony ScottStarsWill SmithGene HackmanJon VoightA lawyer becomes targeted by a corrupt politician and his N.S.A. goons when he accidentally receives key evidence to a politically motivated crime.Ahead of its time, but a perfect execution of a fast paced thriller that discusses and analyzes the components of modern day spying and their ethical, moral, and legal consequences. Hackman gives an all-time best supporting performance, and this may be Smith's best. 9/10
- DirectorAlfonso CuarónStarsSandra BullockGeorge ClooneyEd HarrisDr Ryan Stone, an engineer on her first time on a space mission, and Matt Kowalski, an astronaut on his final expedition, have to survive in space after they are hit by debris while spacewalking.Short, arguably thin on plot, but the feeling this movie evokes between beautiful visuals and the final descent is nothing short of extraordinary. Bullock brings a lot to her lead role as a woman who doesn't know if life is worth living anymore as she battles the elements of space. 10/10
- DirectorKathryn BigelowStarsJessica ChastainJoel EdgertonChris PrattA chronicle of the decade-long hunt for al-Qaeda terrorist leader Osama bin Laden after the September 2001 attacks, and his death at the hands of the Navy S.E.A.L.s Team 6 in May 2011.Excellent chronological thriller about the real-life hunt for Osama Bin Laden in Pakistan with subtle tension, and a great lead performance by Chastain. 10/10
- DirectorBryan SingerStarsKevin SpaceyGabriel ByrneChazz PalminteriThe sole survivor of a pier shoot-out tells the story of how a notorious criminal influenced the events that began with five criminals meeting in a seemingly random police lineup. The story is overall very average up until the final 20 minutes, but those 20 minutes elevate everything that came before them. 10/10
- DirectorChristopher NolanStarsGuy PearceCarrie-Anne MossJoe PantolianoA man with short-term memory loss attempts to track down his wife's murderer.More stylish and unique than technically perfect or story-perfect, but it knows itself and uncurtains itself with precision and solid pacing for a surprise and complex ending. 9/10
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsUma ThurmanDavid CarradineDaryl HannahAfter awakening from a four-year coma, a former assassin wreaks vengeance on the team of assassins who betrayed her.Not a perfect movie and a little over-the-top at times, but watching Thurman's journey from left for dead to ultimate one on one revenge with her list was done perfectly. Could do without the over the top fight scenes though. 9/10

- DirectorKathryn BigelowStarsPatrick SwayzeKeanu ReevesGary BuseyAn F.B.I. Agent goes undercover to catch a gang of surfers who may be bank robbers.Well constructed, over the top, bank robber, crime heist flick with lots of unpredictable twists and turns from start to finish. Way underrated. 10/10
- DirectorClint EastwoodStarsClint EastwoodBee VangChristopher CarleyAfter a Hmong teenager tries to steal his prized 1972 Gran Torino, a disgruntled, prejudiced Korean War veteran seeks to redeem both the boy and himself. The climax is a disappointment, but everything that came before and the final 5 minutes are perfectly well done. 9/10
- DirectorFrank DarabontStarsTim RobbinsMorgan FreemanBob GuntonOver the course of several years, two convicts form a friendship, seeking consolation and, eventually, redemption through basic compassion.A little too long and boring in the middle, so much so that you can fall asleep, but the ending rectifies it and makes it a classic. 8/10
- DirectorMel GibsonStarsAndrew GarfieldSam WorthingtonLuke BraceyWorld War II American Army Medic Desmond T. Doss, serving during the Battle of Okinawa, refuses to kill people and becomes the first man in American history to receive the Medal of Honor without firing a shot. Some say it is too cheesy or an action scene here or there is unbelievable, and maybe they're right, but the story of Desmond Doss is simply powerful and sublime. 10/10
- DirectorSam RaimiStarsSharon StoneGene HackmanRussell CroweA female gunfighter returns to a frontier town where a dueling tournament is being held, which she enters in an effort to avenge her father's death. The tournament setup for this movie is perfectly done, with quirky characters, great actors, and a surprise finale. For a western, this is underrated. 8/10
- DirectorJames CameronStarsLeonardo DiCaprioKate WinsletBilly ZaneA seventeen-year-old aristocrat falls in love with a kind but poor artist aboard the luxurious, ill-fated R.M.S. - DirectorM. Night ShyamalanStarsBruce WillisHaley Joel OsmentToni ColletteMalcolm Crowe, a child psychologist, starts treating a young boy, Cole, who encounters dead people and convinces him to help them.
