D23 Highlights Marvel, 'Muppets,' 'Maleficent,' But Skips 'Star Wars'11 of 13
Next up was Maleficent – a live-action version of Sleeping Beauty -- which has already been shot for a Summer 2014 release. Star Angelina Jolie, who plays the title character, took the stage to huge applause, and proceeded to tell an amusing story about how she accidentally scared off children with her frightening makeup. Judging by the footage that was shown afterwards, Jolie looks to be a great fit for the part, though it’s hard to tell if the “villain as protagonist” idea is going to ultimately work out here.
