Created on 03/09/16 My interpretation of these ratings is as follows, Under 2 Rubbish,watch if you have masochistic tendencies Between 2.1 and 3.0 If you want to waste some time Between 3.1 and 4.0 of some interest but not much Between 4.1 and 5.0 mostly mediocre. Between 5.1 and 6.0 Tolerable Between 6.1 and 7.0 OK movie. Between 7.1 and 8.0 Very good. Between 8.1 and 9.0 Excellent Over 9.1 Should be watching the film and not reading this.

Umrao re-locates to Kanpur where she establishes herself as a Poet and dancer, but is hunted down by brothel-keepers, Gohar Mirza and Husseini and brought back, where she is told that she must marry Gohar. Watch what Umrao does to escape from being married against her will, and her attempts to try and find her way back to her parents.
