- DirectorMartyn BurkeStarsAnthony Michael HallNoah WyleJoey SlotnickHistory of Apple and Microsoft.Still the best version about Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, Apple, and Microsoft. Great for Entrepreneurship and for Human Resources (and how NOT to treat employees). The entire TV movie was practically half of the Steve Jobs biography written by Walter Isaacson, but with more information about Gates and Microsoft and even a few tidbits that Isaacson did not include (but the director swears some people witnessed).
- DirectorDavid FincherStarsJesse EisenbergAndrew GarfieldJustin TimberlakeAs Harvard student Mark Zuckerberg creates the social networking site that would become known as Facebook, he is sued by the twins who claimed he stole their idea and by the co-founder who was later squeezed out of the business.Another great movie about entrepreneurship, especially about startups and the foggy notion of intellectual property and who really owns it. The idea of (spoiler warning) diluting shares of stock to manipulate ownership is also included.
- DirectorGlenn JordanStarsJames GarnerJonathan PrycePeter RiegertThe president of a major tobacco company decides to buy the company himself, but a bidding war ensues as other companies make their own offers. One of the best (and funniest) movies about shares of stock and corporate takeovers. Also a good historical insight on corporate greed in the 80's.
- DirectorJames FoleyStarsAl PacinoJack LemmonAlec BaldwinAn examination of the machinations behind the scenes at a real estate office. The dog-eat-dog world of sales, also Alec Baldwin's speech is both riveting and despicable. A movie good for showing distribution channels, sales tactics, and motivation.
- DirectorAkira KurosawaStarsToshirô MifuneTakashi ShimuraKeiko TsushimaFarmers from a village exploited by bandits hire a veteran samurai for protection, who gathers six other samurai to join him.A great film for showing strategic management, tactics, and utilization of resources. Seven warriors versus forty bandits. Plus, it's one of the greatest action films ever made.
- DirectorAdam McKayStarsChristian BaleSteve CarellRyan GoslingIn 2006-2007 a group of investors bet against the United States mortgage market. In their research, they discover how flawed and corrupt the market is.Terrific movie that showed an economic crisis and its ties to bad business practices. Also shows how value is perceptual and how value can be built up over literally nothing. There are hilarious explanations of technical stock market terms by celebrity cameos. This is the same economic crisis that forced a school I was working for to downsize, leading to my getting laid off.
- StarsJohn HeilemannHosted by John Heilemann, they are four episodes about the birth of the World Wide Web and its inextricable links to business. All about the start of Netscape, Yahoo, Google, Amazon, Ebay, Napster, Youtube and Craigslist.
