Lastertime's Behind The Scenes Viewing List
THIRTY TWENTY TEN is a Lasertime podcast that covers the pop culture landscape of thirty years ago, twenty years ago, and ten years ago and it is my favorite podcast. The hosts are skilled, they know their subject matter, they cover a wide range of pop culture topics and are always interesting, especially the behind the scenes info they give on the movies, games, and music of the time. To make a list of all the movies and media they recommend would be superfluous but if you want to go in more depth to some of their topics here are some great Making-Of-Doc some that they have recommended:

- DirectorMark HartleyStarsSam FirstenbergDavid PaulsenLuigi CozziThe history of the independent film company, The Cannon Film Group, Inc..This is the big one. If you listen to Thirty Twenty Ten for any amount of time this film WILL come up and there is a very good reason: it’s amazing! It may be my favorite film about making movies of all time. Covering the Rise and Fall of Cannon films from makers of schlocky cheap movies to makers of schlocky EXPENSIVE movies (they did Superman IV: The Quest For Peace) this film shows you a side of movie-making that isn’t often covered and does so in a really entertaining way. HIGHLY recommended.
- DirectorBrian StillmanStarsTom BeaumontTom BergesJohn BoothPlastic Galaxy explores the groundbreaking world of Star Wars toys. Through interviews with former Kenner employees, toy experts, and collectors, it looks at the toys' history, their influence, and the feelings they elicit today.Jedi may have came out in 1983, but Kerner pumped out toys for a long a time after that. I have a lot of fun memories of playing with these and so do a lot of people who were kids in the 1980’s.

This is one of them. The story told here of the making of the infamous 1996 version of The Island of Dr. Moreau is way better than that film itself.
- DirectorSteven CantorStarsSeth AbrahamSteve AlbertTeddy AtlasExplores the years that Evander Holyfield spent trying to arrange his first fight with Mike Tyson. The hosts of Thirty Twenty Ten will not hesitate to tell you, repeatedly, that they do not like to watch sports. They will also not hesitate to recommend many episodes of ESPN’s Thirty For Thirty series because they are fantastic stories in and of themselves. The story of Evander Holyfield, a tremendously talented boxer, being completely overshadowed by the utterly dominating media presence of Mike Tyson is fun to watch even if, like me, you’ve never seen a real boxing match in your life.

After leading the Dream Team to an Olympic gold medal in 1992 and taking the Bulls to their third consecutive NBA championship the following year, Jordan was jolted by the murder of his father. Was it the brutal loss of such an anchor in his life that caused the world's most famous athlete to rekindle a childhood ambition by playing baseball? Or some feeling that he had nothing left to prove or conquer in basketball? Or something deeper and perhaps not yet understood? Ron Shelton, a former minor leaguer who brought his experiences to life in the classic movie "Bull Durham," will revisit Jordan's short career in the minor leagues and explore the motivations that drove the world's most competitive athlete to play a new sport in the relative obscurity of Birmingham, Alabama, for a young manager named Terry Francona.

- DirectorJeanette GarciaDaryl RodriguezStarsPatrick Scott PattersonNolan BushnellHoward Scott WarshawWorld 1-1 is the first in a documentary series on the history of video games. This chapter is about Atari and how they created a new industry. It focuses on the business deals, the personalities of the pioneers, and the creations of the engineers. This documentary will be a combination of interviews, archival footage, and reflection that retells the story to a new generation that may not know the roots of their favorite hobby. World 1-1 will follow the early games before the arcade machine even existed. It will tell the story of how Atari created the games industry years before it should have happened and follow the lucky deals and unfortunate mistakes that almost destroyed the entire industry just as quickly as it was born. Atari was the fastest growing company in the United States at the time. It kickstarted Steve Jobs' career, as well as others. The world's first successful arcade machine was built there, along with the first popular home console. Atari and its engineers formed the games industry we know today. It's time to tell this story, from the words of the creators themselves.
