The Visit
I was pretty disappointed by this film. Michael Madsen's documentary-style film imagines a scenario of mankind's first contact with alien life and asks real government agencies to reveal how they might cope with this event. While the cinematography is absolutely gorgeous, the interviews felt cold and sparse, and seemed to imply if aliens did come they would not be able to communicate so war would be inevitable. As a science fiction geek and frequent watcher of "Ancient Aliens", I was hoping for a little more, and from the Q&A I could tell I wasn't alone in this expectation. Someone asked the director what he felt about Roswell or other alien conspiracies, and he called them "folklore" and implied it was silly to even talk about them. I think I'll stick with the "folklore" films.
