- DirectorSeth MacFarlaneStarsMark WahlbergSeth MacFarlaneAmanda SeyfriedNewlywed couple Ted and Tami-Lynn want to have a baby, but in order to qualify to be a parent, Ted will have to prove he's a person in a court of law.THE BUZZ: We freely admit that we're most interested to see how Seth MacFarlane's script will deal with the absence of Mila Kunis in the sequel to his record-breaking R-rated man-boy comedy. The story idea doesn't seem that engaging but we are looking forward to Tami-Lynn and her foul mouth and hopefully some more dancing from Giovanni Ribisi? Of course the best thing ever would be a Taylor Lautner cameo as Ribisi's grown-up son.
- DirectorBoaz YakinStarsThomas Haden ChurchJosh WigginsLuke KleintankA military dog that helped American Marines in Afghanistan returns to the United States and is adopted by his handler's family after suffering a traumatic experience.THE BUZZ: We imagine this true story will become the sleeper hit of the summer, pulling in family crowds and older audiences alike. "Gilmore Girls" fans will remember that Lauren Graham ultimately was great with dogs.
- DirectorAndrea Di StefanoStarsBenicio Del ToroJosh HutchersonClaudia TraisacIn Colombia, a young surfer meets the woman of his dreams - and then meets her uncle, Pablo Escobar.
- DirectorDana NachmanStarsMiles ScottEric JohnstonNick ScottOn one day, in one city, the world comes together to grant one 5 year old cancer patient his wish. Batkid Begins looks at the 'why' of this flash phenomenon.THE BUZZ: Living in San Francisco, I was fortunate enough to be there on the day that Batkid saved us from criminals and corruption. I can't keep it together while watching this trailer, and knowing that Miles Scott has beaten leukemia means there's no dark cloud hanging over this real-world legendary tale. - Arno
- DirectorJalmari HelanderStarsSamuel L. JacksonOnni TommilaRay StevensonA young teenager camping in the woods helps rescue the President of the United States when Air Force One is shot down near his campsite.THE BUZZ: Yes, it's Samuel L. Jackson back on a plane, if only for the first act, but this time he's the POTUS. The other reason this movie appeals to me: it was originally set for a barely-there theatrical release in the U.S., and, suddenly, it earned a limited summer release. Crossing my fingers for another B-grade winner from Luc Besson (his EuropaCorp is distributing the movie) and some major scene chewing from Jackson, Felicity Huffman, and Ray Stevenson. - Arno
- DirectorJosh LawsonStarsBojana NovakovicJosh LawsonDamon HerrimanThe secret lives of five suburban couples living in Sydney reveal both the fetishes and the repercussions that come with sharing them.THE BUZZ: I watched the majority of this dark-sex-comedy in the early hours right before heading to an interview with its director, Josh Lawson (who is also one of the leads). Having only read a tight-lipped synopsis before the screener began, I have to admit I was aghast and enthralled by the narrative's turns and abrupt, splatter-y ends to its vignettes. Coupled with Lawson's frank and open discussion about human sexuality and the myriad ways in which we tend to shame and closet ourselves, and the fact that we might see versions of his movie translated and remade in several different countries, makes me incredibly anxious to watch this one again. - Arno
- DirectorShawn RechBrandon KimberStarsDexter HammettJoseph AlexJason PatrickDocumentary filmmakers assert that Anthony Porter - a former death-row inmate who was spared the death penalty thanks to the efforts of a college journalism program - was actually guilty, and an innocent man was sent to prison.THE BUZZ: It sounds like the baddest summer-movie villains could be private investigator Paul Ciolino and journalism professor David Protess; the duo have been targeted by co-directors Christopher Rech and Brandon Kimber for nefarious behaviors that led to Anthony Porter's exoneration and Alstory Simon's prison sentence.
- DirectorJason BankerStarsAmy EversonKentucker AudleyRyan CreightonA woman creates an alter ego in hopes of overcoming the trauma inflicted by men in her life.
