- DirectorLana WachowskiLilly WachowskiStarsKeanu ReevesLaurence FishburneCarrie-Anne MossFreedom fighters Neo, Trinity and Morpheus continue to lead the revolt against the Machine Army, unleashing their arsenal of extraordinary skills and weaponry against the systematic forces of repression and exploitation.Even if it takes more than one viewing to truly understand it all, this proves to be an incredibly strong continuation of the classic film, and although there are a lot more action scenes here than in the original, they're very ambitious for their time, including the single best car chase scene ever put to film. (In my opinion, anyway).
- DirectorLana WachowskiLilly WachowskiStarsKeanu ReevesLaurence FishburneCarrie-Anne MossThe human city of Zion defends itself against the massive invasion of the machines as Neo fights to end the war at another front while also opposing the rogue Agent Smith. While I can KIND OF understand the hate for the previous sequel, with this one, I'm genuinely baffled on how widely lamented it is. I find it to be an excellent conclusion to The Matrix Trilogy, and I can only wish that this could have more attention and love than it has.
- DirectorDarrell RooneyRob LaDucaStarsMatthew BroderickNeve CampbellAndy DickSimba's daughter is the key to a resolution of a bitter feud between Simba's pride and the outcast pride led by the mate of Scar.People who don't like this movie seriously depress the hell out of me. They really do. The animation is wonderful (Even if I don't hold it by direct-to-video standards), the songs are memorable, the story is cleverly told from a Shakespearian standpoint, and the new characters are all expertly done and likable in their own rights. (Especially Kiara, who I think gets WAY too much crap from fans when she doesn't deserve such hate).
- DirectorBradley RaymondStarsNathan LaneErnie SabellaJulie KavnerTimon the meerkat and Pumbaa the warthog retell the story of The Lion King (1994) from their own perspective. If Disney ever made their own take on Back to the Future Part II, this would undoubtedly be it. Just minus the hover boards, of course. (Sadly...) Taking a look at the original film from new perspectives while providing its own story at the same time, this movie develops Timon and Pumbaa's characters in ways I never would've thought possible.
- DirectorSteven SpielbergStarsJeff GoldblumJulianne MoorePete PostlethwaiteA research team is sent to the Jurassic Park Site B island to study the dinosaurs there, while an InGen team approaches with another agenda.A worthy sequel to the Steven Spielberg masterpiece, this adds new elements to the story and explores the concept of an island of dinosaurs in new ways. While the characters may not be much, this movie still gives us what could be the coolest climax to any of the Jurassic Park films.
- DirectorJoe JohnstonStarsSam NeillWilliam H. MacyTéa LeoniA decidedly odd couple with ulterior motives convince Dr. Grant to go to Isla Sorna for a holiday, but their unexpected landing startles the island's new inhabitants. While this is undoubtedly the weakest of the Jurassic Park series, I still find it to be a fun, enjoyable film to watch, even if it does admittedly have problems.
- DirectorToby SheltonTad StonesAlan ZasloveStarsJonathan FreemanScott WeingerDan CastellanetaJafar comes for revenge on Aladdin, using a foolish thief and Iago's treachery to find a way back into power. This is nowhere near to being the train wreck that most say it is. Sure, it's nowhere near as good as the original, but it's still okay. Animation and music aside, it does manage to provide a decent continuation that gives one of the previous villains an unexpected amount of heart and sympathy.
- DirectorTad StonesStarsScott WeingerRobin WilliamsJohn Rhys-DaviesThe King of Thieves disrupts Aladdin and Jasmine's long-anticipated wedding, looking for an oracle that will lead him to an even bigger treasure. His true identity causes trouble for Aladdin. Now this is what I call a satisfying conclusion to the overall Aladdin story. While the animation may not look like much, it still has a handful of impressive moments, given this is a direct-to-video effort. The story is well executed, the characters (both old and new) are developed, and it finally concludes things the way I'm surprised the first movie did not.
- DirectorRobin BuddDonovan CookStarsBlayne WeaverHarriet OwenCorey BurtonIn London during World War II, this is the story of Wendy's daughter, Jane, who is kidnapped by Captain Hook and Peter Pan must come to the rescue. While I can understand that the story is more or less a retread of the original, they still manage to put in enough new elements to the story to make its own distinction. The beginning and the end scenes taking place in war-torn London are the highlights, many of the moments being emotional enough to get me misty eyed when I'm in the right mood.
- DirectorJ.B. RogersStarsJason BiggsSeann William ScottShannon ElizabethJim and his friends are now in college, and they decide to meet up at the beach house for some fun.As expected for a sequel to a hilarious comedy such as American Pie, this movie does a good job at putting the characters through hysterical situations, as well as adding in a surprisingly heartfelt love story between two of them as well.
- DirectorJesse DylanStarsJason BiggsAlyson HanniganSeann William ScottIt's the wedding of Jim and Michelle and the gathering of their families and friends, including Jim's old friends from high school and Michelle's little sister. This is a genuinely good and funny movie that does not disappoint in the humor department. Although some of the jokes may be a tad childish, I really love this one.
- DirectorJon HurwitzHayden SchlossbergStarsJason BiggsAlyson HanniganSeann William ScottJim, Michelle, Stifler, and their friends reunite in East Great Falls, Michigan for their high school reunion. It's not as good as the first three movies, but this is a sequel still worth seeing, showcasing a lot of the series' trademark humor and another feel-good story that has, surprisingly, more weight to it than expected.
- DirectorCharles GrosvenorStarsJohn IngleAlec MedlockKenneth MarsLittlefoot has been on many adventures before, but in this new edition to the Land Before Time series, the next adventure may change his life...forever.This is by far the best of the Land Before Time sequels. Why? Because unlike 95% of everything before it, this one actually acknowledges that the original movie happened, and is the only one that adds more to the actual back story of Littlefoot's family. The animation is good (Even if it is pretty reliant on CGI), the songs are decent, the new characters are well done, and the score is downright awesome at points. The only film in this series (Besides the classic original, of course) that's truly worth seeing.
- DirectorDarren Lynn BousmanStarsTobin BellShawnee SmithAngus MacfadyenJigsaw abducts a doctor in order to keep himself alive while he watches his new apprentice put an unlucky citizen named Jeff through a brutal test.I'm likely in the minority by saying this, but I actually think Saw II was the weakest of the franchise, and was definitely the most disappointing for me. Saw III, on the other hand, makes up for it entirely. The story is much tighter, it feels more like a genuine Saw film, and the ending was a total mind-screw in the best of ways. Probably the best Saw movie since the original.
- DirectorKevin GreutertStarsTobin BellCostas MandylorMark RolstonAgent Strahm is dead, and FBI agent Erickson draws nearer to Hoffman. Meanwhile, a pair of insurance executives find themselves in another game set by Jigsaw.Saw IV and V were good movies, but they weren't nearly as good as the third one. Saw VI, however, comes pretty damn close to it. Out of all the films in this series, this one was probably the easiest to follow for me, the traps were amazingly terrifying, and I love how the story of Jigsaw's past is coming together so well with each movie. Almost like an actual jigsaw puzzle, in fact...
- DirectorKevin GreutertStarsTobin BellCostas MandylorBetsy RussellAs a deadly battle rages over Jigsaw's brutal legacy, a group of Jigsaw survivors gathers to seek the support of self-help guru and fellow survivor Bobby Dagen, a man whose own dark secrets unleash a new wave of terror.Nearly everyone I've ever met says they hate this film or that it's the weakest of the series, but I personally beg to differ. The overall story arc for Jigsaw and his successors has a great sense of finality to it for me, the traps are probably some of the most sadistic ones yet, and the ending, though confusing at first, finishes off the story fantastically once I really thought about this. Contrary to popular belief, I think this was the perfect, mostly satisfying ending to the Saw franchise. (At least until they inevitably make another sequel in a few years, that is.)
