Anime I’ve Watched Ranked
Every anime series and movie I have watched ranked and rated from best to worst in my opinion. Also with a brief description of my thoughts. (A work in progress.) If there’s a * it means I am unsure about the score cause I watched it a long time ago when I got into anime and binged like 50 of them lol. Also some scores were originally too high, or some may feel too low cause my tastes changed and I also changed my scoring and standards. I would usually not rate dropped anime, but I rated those while watching, and if I didn’t finish it I just left it how it is. I've divided the list in sections, the first section ranks my completed anime, which means an anime I've watched at least a full season of. Below are ranked my dropped/incomplete anime, anime I may have only watched partially or decided to drop. The final section is anime I am currently watching. To not crowd the list with OVA’s and such they’ll just be listed with the show they’re from, and they won’t affect the average score of the show. If multiple shows have the same score it’s usually ordered from my enjoyment, but many are close or interchangeable. Also I do not usually compare movies to shows, I could’ve made a separate list for anime movies and shows but for simplicity sake I kept it in one list, you can make it only show movies or tv shows either way.
Edit: I’ve decided to make separate lists for Anime movies and dropped anime that are currently in the works so I can make this list cleaner.

The boy, now a charismatic young man, reappears 9 years later in the midst of a string of unusual serial murders.(9.6/10) - The best anime, and one of the best shows I’ve watched in general. This anime contains one of the strongest protagonists and especially villains in anime. In 74 episodes we get to see all the effects and ripples this one evil person creates, how it touches and changes people throughout. Though it gets a little slow at times everything is so well developed. It grapples with strong themes of morality, justice, paternity, revenge, redemption, human nature, nihilism, and more. Each character has their own developed philosophy that makes for some profound and though provoking dialogue. Some of the best character development, world building, and thematic depth in anything I’ve watched. By the end of the series we’ve seen how these characters grew and changed, and how this one person could affect so much, and we learned about ourselves.

Gotta be one of the most tragic drops right at the end. - StarsVic MignognaAaron DismukeRomi ParkWhen a failed alchemical ritual leaves brothers Edward and Alphonse Elric with severely damaged bodies, they begin searching for the one thing that can save them: the fabled philosopher's stone.(9.2/10) - Better than Brotherhood. While it’s slower paced in the beginning, it’s used to better set up the storyline and characters. Some side characters are undeveloped, but the characters who are developed are fantastic. These characters aren’t so black and white like Brotherhood, they’re a lot more grey, not simply good and bad. Edward Elric begins as a naive boy clinging to the belief of equivalent exchange, and he’s forced to do some horrible things, rethink his beliefs, and we see the toll that takes on him. The series delves deeply into Equivalent Exchange truly means. Unfortunately there are some inconsistencies with Alchemy and weaker episodes in the beginning which bring it down a bit. It’s darker, but more profound, with a poetic, and poignant, though rushed ending. It’s one of the only anime that I’ve rewatched and appreciated even more than before, unlike Brotherhood which didn’t hold up nearly as well, though it’s still great. With the greatest rivalry in all of anime, both Light and L are amazing characters. The first 25 episodes are truly amazing. This series has style, tension, edge, depth, and overall great writing. After the 25th episode, there is a drop-off in quality, however, I would still argue it’s great, and it ended very strongly. The second part was necessary for the themes and characters of the story, if anything the issue is that it was too rushed. This is a classic that everyone should watch. Still one of my favorites. Initially was tied for the best anime, but upon rewatching I found a lot of flaws. While there’s certainly a lot of good characters, they aren’t that nuanced, it lacks the moral ambiguity of the original. Most characters are pretty black and white without much subtlety. The beginning of the series is rushed and way better handled in the original, then there’s too many slow set up episodes which could’ve been better handled. There’s too much humor that undercuts impactful moments, and it just felt lighter than it should be. The final arc is excellent until the last few episodes which set up a generic anime confrontation, which just felt cliched and contrived, with an overly positive ending. However, despite those issues this is still a great anime. The storyline is incredible, large in scope, truly epic battles, with great animation. It does have its depth, even if not as much as the original. The characters are mostly solid, with most side characters actually being developed. It’s just really great despite its issues. Another must watch classic. (Rewatched - Original Score: 9.7/10)

It manages to be funny, but still have it’s serious moments that work because the world and side characters are so well developed. Season 2 is weaker, most notably the animation, but it’s still really good and focuses more on the side characters and world building. (Rewatched S1 - Original Score 9.3/10)

This anime still has action, and some horror elements that manage to keep the series entertaining even if you watch it at face value, but peel back some of the layers and this series has a lot of depth on what it means to be human. However it has very weak side characters, and a few big contrivances, but still great. (Rewatched - Original Score: 9.5/10)
- StarsKôki UchiyamaAyumu MuraseKyle McCarleyWith demons reawakened and humanity in turmoil, a sensitive demon-boy is led into a brutal, degenerate war against evil by his mysterious friend, Ryo.(7.9/10) - Overly edgy and grotesque, but filled with so much depth and meaning. This series is extremely violent, with tons of gore, nudity, and overly dark themes, but with reason. The finale is one of my favorite episodes ever. Phenomenal soundtrack, great direction, weird style, and strong characters. Love the rap scenes. (Rewatched: Original Score: 8.5/10)
- CreatorShin'ichirô WatanabeStarsKôichi YamaderaUnshô IshizukaMegumi HayashibaraThe futuristic misadventures and tragedies of an easygoing bounty hunter and his partners.(7.9/10) One of the strongest ensemble casts in all of TV. With an amazing plot, style, animation, voice acting, and characters we could’ve had a show that went on for hundreds of episodes, but it only goes on for 26 which is my main problem. The series managed to be hilarious and dark at the same time but still work. These characters are slowly but expertly developed throughout the series, with the “main plot” focusing on Spike’s storyline. However only about 5 episodes are focused on the “main plot” and it ends up feeling rushed with a disappointing conclusion. I do get part of it is the point, and what we got was still really great though, but I just felt like it could’ve been better executed. This is another must watch classic.

First it may seem like a basic survival anime, but it slowly develops one of the most epic storylines in anime. So many deaths yet you care for most of them as this show takes its time to develop the characters. The politics and world building is very well realized, and there’s some insane twists I love. The music and animation are top tier, with everything always feeling epic. I do however think that this anime is a little overhyped though, but still a great anime that improves each season… until the end. The manga ending is horrible. If it’s adapted this will massively drop. It’s the kind of ending that makes what came before it even worse. Some flaws are already being shown in the first part of the final season, and some of the worst moments have been adapted already majorly hurting the series. Unfortunately it seems I will be dropping the score massively. Already have, going from Top 5-10, to close to 20, very sad. Also don’t usually split up seasons in half but I thought it made sense in this case. - DirectorSatoshi KonStarsJunko IwaoRica MatsumotoShinpachi TsujiA pop singer gives up her career to become an actress, but she slowly goes insane when she starts being stalked by an obsessed fan and what seems to be a ghost of her past.(7.9/10)
- StarsKengo KawanishiKhoi DaoAi KayanoA 17 year old socially awkward orphaned shogi player, dealing with adult problems like financial difficulties, loneliness, and depression.*Season 1 (7.7/10) - Season 2 (8/10) - A slice of life that deals with depression. Though I think it could’ve delved a bit deeper into the depression the series manages to handle this topic very well. Both sad but endearing and fun wit it’s side characters, this is one of the only slice of life anime I enjoy. There’s many interesting characters, and some great storylines.
- StarsTakahiro SakuraiSetsuo ItoChris NiosiA psychic middle school boy tries to live a normal life and keep his growing powers under control, even though he constantly gets into trouble.*Season 1 (7.3/10) - Season 2 (8.3/10) - Simply sublime. His sole life purpose is to become the greatest high school teacher ever.(7.7/10) - A hilarious anime with a lot of heart. It follows a delinquent teacher who’s just trying to help his students, and it’s always heartfelt and hilarious. It handles some heavier topics, some better than others, but usually decently enough. Though there are some weaker episodes and the finale was a bit rushed leaving a lot of loose ends.

It has a pretty strong and unexpected backstory, and some strong development for some main characters, but some side characters are a bit weak, and some plot lines a bit exaggerated and come out of nowhere.
