Inside, a tempting prize awaits with deadly high stakes: a survival game that has a whopping 45.6 billion-won prize at stake.Don't let your kids see this or they start torturing people and madame that's bad nurture.
- DirectorRobert BentonStarsDustin HoffmanMeryl StreepJane AlexanderAfter his wife leaves him, a work-obsessed Manhattan advertising executive is forced to learn long-neglected parenting skills, but a heated custody battle over the couple's young son deepens the wounds left by the separation.Fuck all that Marriage Story thing, this is REAL EPIC B)
- DirectorEdgar WrightStarsAnsel ElgortJon BernthalJon HammAfter being coerced into working for a crime boss, a young getaway driver finds himself taking part in a heist doomed to fail.Cool film, very funny, well-directed. I do prefer comedies like birdman or, films that are just way out there with grabbing comedy. It's in your face, plain and simple. It's easy but it works. This film also does that, but the focus is on the unclarity, which does make it an interesting thing to notice.
- CreatorScott FrankAllan ScottStarsAnya Taylor-JoyChloe PirrieBill CampOrphaned at the tender age of nine, prodigious introvert Beth Harmon discovers and masters the game of chess in 1960s USA. But child stardom comes at a price.God should see this and let a few people write another epic because fuck all that nihilism and peasantry nowadays. Yes i play chess. Yes i can't get past 1950. Yes I'm jealous. Get over it.
- DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsRobert De NiroAl PacinoJoe PesciAn illustration of Frank Sheeran's life, from W.W.II veteran to hit-man for the Bufalino crime family and his alleged assassination of his close friend Jimmy Hoffa. What a great ode on life. Speechless.
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsBrad PittDiane KrugerEli RothIn Nazi-occupied France during World War II, a plan to assassinate Nazi leaders by a group of Jewish U.S. soldiers coincides with a theatre owner's vengeful plans for the same.Yo look at me I'm NOT Don DeLillo lmaoooooo. Great though, hilarious, underrated, postmodern (one of the two types of postmodernism that didn't kamikaze itself) but, be honest, nobody gives a shit about intertextuality in films.
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsUma ThurmanDavid CarradineDaryl HannahAfter awakening from a four-year coma, a former assassin wreaks vengeance on the team of assassins who betrayed her.
- DirectorQuentin TarantinoStarsUma ThurmanDavid CarradineMichael MadsenThe Bride continues her quest of vengeance against her former boss and lover Bill, the reclusive bouncer Budd, and the treacherous, one-eyed Elle.Nobody has any idea why the film is directed in this way. It's really funny, but every time you could say "ok you could have achieved this level of humour with far little than you have done" and I guess that makes it great. All that postmodernism jazz is cool and shit but the superman scene was fucking hilarious. Never seen a funnier bit in a film. Just to have such a build-up of postmodernism and then such a dumb philosophy to end with, ending the meaning of the films with that, is great. It SHOULD have had a meaning though, because even humour isn't postmodern anymore, it's admitting you did value meaning without being Billy big Bollocks and actually saying it out loud. That's why that scene was hilarious. PEace uot B)
- DirectorMartin ScorseseStarsRobert De NiroHarvey KeitelDavid ProvalIn New York City's Little Italy, a devoutly Catholic mobster must reconcile his desire for power, his feelings for his epileptic lover, and his devotion to his troublesome friend.I guess this film didn't age quite that well art-wise. It's good. We know what comes after and what fell after, they didn't. Taxi Driver is way different in that regard and has aged very well and I have no clue as to why this film is higher rated than that one. I mean of course the thematics are very different but the art of both films is the same. Saying this film as an ode on life, you get diagnosed with stupidity, and maybe that's true. Of course it's more than that, but it definitely doesn't try to be, it tells you life's meaningless whilst forgetting to tell you: "it isn't meaningless seen from a human perspective" and after it realises it forgot to tell, it doesn't tell it then either and just thinks: that's the fun part of it. Which in turn, of course, does make it an ode on life. Other than that, it's just a greatly written narrative and maybe isn't meant for analysing. Which in turn, of course, makes it meant for analysing. But I won't do it, I feel too up in the clouds to do that.
- DirectorSam MendesStarsKevin SpaceyAnnette BeningThora BirchA sexually frustrated suburban father has a mid-life crisis after becoming infatuated with his daughter's best friend. This film really frustrated me. It could have been much more. I get it, it's really funny etc and ooh look how naive people.exe is. It would have worked way better as a novel, too. Teen angst, bla bla bla. I mean, it's still a good debut. But wasn't there someone who said what I could see? Obviously there was. And, of course, the film is about vagueness, everything in human emotion falls apart when it tries to be explained. But it's just a dumb excuse to be directed in that way, too. It just fucking slaps you in the face with one low moment and one high moment and continues: 'Well mate oi you can figure the rest out yrself cantchù' As a novel, you would call this 'read between the lines' and that's fine, but that's because it's not on fucking camera all the time. You can't just film such a beautiful piece of film and then throw it all away just because you like this 'vagueness'. But, too, I am indeed a teen myself. And these are exactly the narratives that I like.
- CreatorRicky GervaisStarsRicky GervaisKerry GodlimanDavid EarlDerek is a loyal nursing home care assistant who sees only the good in his quirky co-workers as they struggle against prejudice and shrinking budgets to care for their elderly residents.I guess Gervais was listening to some good ol britpop and decided ooh ooh I can do this too. It's alright. The narrative has its flaws. After Life is definitely better, and seeing this after I had seen After Life, I have less respect for the creation of the latter series. It had been done before, just not the addition of the dark comedy. Common class adoration is maybe a very British thing and I live in a country with no clear social classes, basically everyone is middle class. So maybe I don't have the right to say, but it seems very primitive, those social classes and calling in thw wild: 'I'm common and it's alright and I can feel good about myself' You've just been either fucked over by your government or by yourself. Why's there sentiment in classes? What does it matter? In any country in which social climbing is very easy, you will eventually reach the point in which everyone is middle class. There's nothing wrong with a cultural elite, though, it's just that if it becomes a segregated thing in society with no supervision, it will become a Das Experiment version some day. God is dead. The average view of 'how people should be' is fucking stupid. You don't achieve anything with this sentiment. It's just a black hole. I don't understand, that's all there is to say.
- DirectorEdgar WrightStarsMichael CeraMary Elizabeth WinsteadKieran CulkinIn a magically realistic version of Toronto, a young man must defeat his new girlfriend's seven evil exes one by one in order to win her heart.I guess it's kind of a lame film. Postmodernism but also fuck postmodernism but also fuck everything look it's funny lol yes I post on r/meme yes I live yes 'lol' looks like a drowning person yes I know that because a girl I wanted to date but didn't want to date me told me that. You know, you could also NOT fuck around making films like this and make films ABOUT fucking around. But films like this should exist. But that's only because there are other existing films. I obviously can see why and how this reached Baby Driver, which is an upgrade on everything in this film. I guess it's an ok film. Sometimes it seems really immature. Like the directors thought about things in their life and were stressed out, Fuck I need inspirations and shit. I need to be clever, fuck, please God tell me I am clever, I don't need this nihilism; I'm making a fucking film about nihilism like we all do woohjoo. And whatever clever thing comes to mind, they use it. Seems like a thing I would do. I'm glad I didn't direct this. Must be hard. Also Chris Evans was the best cast in the history of casts. Yes it's christmas, I know, I've been reading Harry Potter again. Shut up.
- CreatorScott AlexanderLarry KaraszewskiSarah BurgessStarsSarah PaulsonAnnaleigh AshfordSterling K. BrownAn anthology series centered around America's most notorious crimes and criminals. For season one, The People v. O.J. Simpson
It's a bit too Americana. Some of the acting is really badly done but also quite funny, for instance every time there's such a revelation, or a plottwist or whatever, they have to tell the consumer if it's any good for that side (because apparently they won't understand if you let them think about it for more than one second) so they just nod at each other if it's good, or shake their head if it's bad, it's such simple gestures like this that really fuck it up.
The racism and feminism thing is well-done. It shows that you're just stuck being a 'black man', whatever you do. Racism is seen by the character differences in O.J. and Darden, the former being a fucking asshole, the latter being a somewhat clever person. As a black man, you can study psychology all you want and understand why people treat people so different just because of race, but you're still stuck with it and can't do anything about it, logically. The only thing you can do is polarise.
The series is too unnuanced though. It's too busy saying saying ohh american legal system is badddd. There's not even spoken once about the philosophy on which grounds the system was built in the first place or the psychology on which grounds you can easily play as a defence. That pingpongpsychology is played well, though, you can clearly see that after each revelation in the case, the jury gets all: 'Ooh so other party lied the first time and they are trying to make us believe in fake news' Of course, like a day later the other party comes up again and it's exactly the other way around again. It's psychological toture. And apparently nobody understood, they just go on sometimes and get angry and accuse the opposing party of it, but don't understand it's a fucking congress. Things are illegal to do, and that surely is.
The border between fiction and non-fiction is really poorly done, like in every 'true crime' Americana bullshit series. The series builds so much upon tension, but every shithead knows O.J. gets set free at the end, because it's the most famous case ever. Browsing through the wikipedia articles about the case while watching the series is discouraged. Do it after you finished it.
The structure is good though. Couldn't have done that better myself. PEacE OUT. Adieu.
