Lindsay Lohan is looking to take on the legacy of Ann-Margret.
After Lohan first voiced her desire to portray the frequent Elvis Presley collaborator in a biopic, Us Weekly reports that Ann-Margret, 83, has agreed to the project and has been spending time with Lohan in preparation for her portrayal. IndieWire has reached out to Lohan’s representatives for comment, but we did not immediately receive a response.
A source told Us Weekly that Lohan “feels she’s the only one who can play the part” of Ann-Margret, and that Lohan “wants to win an Oscar and an Emmy.” Lohan believes the biopic could “take her career to the next level.”
The actress recently has ushered in her “Lohannaissance” via some Netflix movies, which she’s also produced, and is preparing for the long-awaited “Freaky Friday” sequel — it’s in the works with Jamie Lee Curtis. Lohan recently had a cameo...

"The Bear" season 3 officially has a release date, and a snazzy first look teaser to go with it. The hit FX and Hulu series that's dominated award season since it premiered in 2022 is back for a third peek into the kitchen of a chaotic Chicago restaurant.
New episodes of the series are set to premiere on Hulu on Thursday, June 27, 2024, close to a year exactly after the show's sophomore season dropped. Despite plenty of fans insisting that the series would be better as a weekly release, the new season is poised to continue its tradition of a single-batch drop, and all 10 episodes will be available that Thursday.
The last season of "The Bear" ended with depressed, highly decorated chef Carmy (Jeremy Allen White), his intrepid sous-chef turned partner Sydney (Ayo Edebiri), hotheaded cousin Richie (Ebon Moss-Bachrach), and the rest of the team behind sandwich joint The Beef poised to successfully open their high-end restaurant.

Chad Michael Murray cemented himself as an early 2000s dreamboat with roles in A Cinderella Story, One Tree Hill, Freaky Friday and more. Now, as a father of three, the actor says his kids are one of his biggest considerations when choosing new roles.
The Mother of the Bride star sat down with Numéro Netherlands ahead of the release of the Netflix movie and discussed his decades-long career, future projects and how he always puts his family first.
“I would say, a lot of material, especially over the past five to eight years since my son was born, I choose because I think one of the last things you really want is for your kids to be berated in school for what their parents are doing,” Murray told the publication. “I don’t want my kids going to school, being freshmen in high school, and Dad’s butt posted all over their locker.

Isabelle Huppert will head up the 2024 Venice Film Festival jury this year. Serving as jury president, Huppert will hand out the Golden Lion and other awards when the festival on the Lido concludes. The dates for this year’s edition are August 28 to September 7.
Huppert has never before served as jury president at Venice, but she did at Cannes in 2009, awarding the Palme d’Or to Michael Haneke’s “The White Ribbon” after deliberations with James Gray, Nuri Bilge Ceylan, Asia Argento, Robin Wright, and Lee Chang-dong. Before that she’d served on the jury headed by Dirk Bogarde at Cannes in 1984, which gave the top prize to “Paris, Texas.”

With the appetite of a hungry grizzly, “The Bear” could gobble up a few Emmy records for its sophomore season. Fresh off a smashing first season that set a new benchmark for comedy series wins with 10 trophies, FX’s awards-gobbling show shows no signs of letting up. Its second season, which aired in June 2023, is eyeing three more records to own: most acting nominations for a series in a single year, most nods for a comedy, and most nominated episode in history with its sixth installment, “Fishes.”
“Fishes” dishes out a heated Christmas dinner flashback of the Berzatto family, positioning itself as the series’ pièce de résistance thus far — imagine the “Succession/Connor’s Wedding” version of family dinners, only with more food spills. Directed by Christopher Storer, who also co-wrote the episode with Joanna Calo, “Fishes” seems the obvious pick for Emmy nods in both directing and writing categories.

With major franchises such as Marvel, Star Wars, and Pixar under its roof, Disney typically finds itself on the top of the box-office heap, but that wasn’t the case last year. The company had more than a few failures which found its fortunes falling, and Deadline reports that four of the five biggest box-office bombs of 2023 belonged to Disney.
First up, and least surprising, is The Marvels, the Captain Marvel sequel starring Brie Larson, Iman Vellani, and Teyonah Parris. As its predecessor grossed $1.1 billion, it was hoped that the sequel would equal that number, but the film turned out to be a bomb of epic proportions, grossing just $206 million worldwide. The film reportedly found Disney taking a loss of $237 million. Yikes.

When I previously wrote my review of Pretty Little Liars: Original Sin, I mentioned that I was optimistic for the series to be renewed for another season, but questioned how the showrunners would be able to introduce a fresh batch of conflicts for our Millwood liars to tackle. After all, “A” had been apprehended! The main characters seemed to have found closure, and the future seemed bright and unobstructed for each of them.
And then came the summer. Summer School, that is.
As expected in any iteration of Pretty Little Liars, a new A has emerged to torment our five final girls who are stuck in Millwood attending summer school; this time in the form of Bloody Rose–a crimson soaked, knife brandishing antagonist that I would argue is much scarier than our season 1 stalker, Archie Waters. As things heat up with Bloody Rose, the summer brings a slew of...

Crank up the music, get the body glitter, and prepare for a hell of a show because Pamela Anderson is taking the stage for Gia Coppola’s The Last Showgirl. As news about Cannes Film Festival offerings fires up, fans of the blonde bombshell can look forward to their favorite Baywatch star returning to the spotlight as the star of Coppola’s upcoming film. In The Last Showgirl, Pamela Anderson plays a seasoned Las Vegas showgirl who is taking another crack at life. The Last Showgirl, from Goodfellas and Utopia, heads to the Cannes Film Festival market later this month.
Deadline debuted a first look at Pamela Anderson in The Last Showgirl, which, I’ll remind you, is not a sequel to Paul Verhoeven’s Showgirls, starring Elizabeth Berkley as a drifter turned starlet of the stage. The image (shown above) shows Anderson in profile wearing a bedazzled, sheer top and feathered headdress.

From It's a Wonderful Life to Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, there are no shortage of "What If...?"-style stories that tackle an alternate history of what came to be. But none of them have focused on an alternate world where Ed Gein didn't become infamous, which is the subject of James Murray's No Gein. From the story's origins to his take on "Pop Culture Alternative History" and how it would impact a movie like Halloween, we dive all into No Gein in our latest Q&a:

With films like The Shining and 2001: A Space Odyssey, Stanley Kubrick’s legacy will live on for centuries to come. During his life and even after his death in 1999, he’s widely considered one of the greatest filmmakers to have ever graced the film industry with his talent. But even a man of his caliber had to have been a fan of someone, and that “someone” for Stanley Kubrick was none other than James Cameron.
Stanley Kubrick’s The Shining (1980)
James Cameron has been responsible for helming some of the most unforgettable and successful films in Hollywood. Therefore, it makes sense that Stanley Kubrick would be in awe of some of his work, and the feeling was mutual between the directors. When James Cameron decided to give himself a birthday present by meeting Stanley Kubrick, he was shocked to learn just how much of a True Lies fan he was.

The term “Scream Queen” has long been associated with actresses who excel in the horror genre, embodying fear, terror, and resilience in the face of terrifying situations. For many years, Janet Leigh proudly wore the unofficial crown as the quintessential Scream Queen, earning her place in film history with her iconic role in Alfred Hitchcock‘s Psycho. However, the title passed on to her daughter, Jamie Lee Curtis, who solidified her status as a modern-day Scream Queen after starring in the classic horror film Halloween. In recent years, the popularity of horror movies has continued to thrive, with a steady stream

In 2022, horror director Ti West released his homage to the slasher films of the past, simply titled X. The first of a trilogy, X was a critical and box office hit. Now the trilogy is about to be completed with a number of big-name actors, including Kevin Bacon – in a role that may create an in-universe paradox.
The Trilogy Kicks Off
2022's X takes place in 1979, and follows aspiring film producer Wayne Gilroy (Martin Henderson) and his much younger girlfriend Maxine (Mia Goth) who dreams of being a movie star. Along with a small crew, Gilroy rents out a building on a farm run by an elderly couple, not telling them that they are making a pornographic feature.
When elderly farmower Pearl (also played by Mia Goth) is drawn to Maxine's resemblance to her younger self, she is reminded of her lost youth and her own dreams of superstardom. Pearl...

From Geena Davis and Jamie Lee Curtis, to blaxploitation royalty Pam Grier; Joe Dante and Roland Emmerich, to genre legend Peter Hyams topping the bill – 2024’s Forbidden Worlds Film Festival promises the biggest (and maddest) year yet for genre fans in the South West.

The second season of The Bear proved to be as stress-inducing as it was profound, intimate and heartwarming, so it's no surprise that it received even more prestigious nominations and awards than the previous one. In addition to the storyline revolving around the titular restaurant and its staff, no less dramatic were the star cameos that appeared either as relatives of the protagonists or as prominent personalities in the restaurant world.
One of the most unexpected, but certainly welcome cameos came from Will Poulter, who played the former colleague of Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) and new mentor to Marcus (Lionel Boyce). And now a new set video has surfaced on X, formerly known as Twitter, with Poulter in attendance. All this means that the actor will return to the series and his role may be expanded to a recurring one.

Sony Pictures Television and TriStar Pictures have made a deal with Hasbro Entertainment for the film and TV rights for Clue, which could mean that we could get a new movie based on the beloved board game.
“Sony is the perfect partner to adapt a property as culturally impactful and mystery-defining as ‘Clue,’” said Hasbro Heads of Film and TV Zev Foreman and Gabriel Marano. “Nicole Brown, Katherine Pope, and their teams are tremendous creative collaborators and ideal partners to help us figure out after 75 years if it was Colonel Mustard in the conservatory with the candlestick.“
Related Hollywood Trailblazer: Jamie Lee Curtis producing documentary on Halloween producer Debra Hill
Clue was previously adapted in 1985, featuring an ensemble cast that included Tim Curry, Christopher Lloyd, Madeline Kahn, Michael McKean, Martin Mull, Lesley Ann Warren, and Colleen Camp. Surprisingly, this has been the only Clue movie, but it’s not for lack of trying.

Every second counts!
So, let's get into it. Like any upscale restaurant that takes a simple dish and turns it on its head, The Bear is no different.
On paper, it's a pretty standard premise for a show.
In this case, a deceased family member passes the business to Carmen, and the results are life-changing. We couldn't have a show otherwise.
The challenges are self-evident. Busted menu. Even more busted cookware. And a rag-tag team of Og employees who can't be told "nothing 'bout nothing."
What sets The Bear apart from any other show is its uncanny ability to put the viewer right into the characters' shoes.
Each scene in Season 1 is palpable. The stress and anxiety are infused right into its core, giving the audience the sensation of being in the kitchen itself.
From the acting to the pace to the dialogue, every part works with the others to...

Few scripted shows excel at causing your blood pressure to sky-rocket like "The Bear." Christopher Storer's acclaimed series centers on the employees of a Chicago-based eatery, which is itself an inherently high-stress environment. Adding to the discomfort, the show pulls you deeply into its characters' perspectives, using invasive close-ups and rapid-fire edits to place you in their headspace and make their underlying anxieties all the more palpable. Other times, the series holds for vast periods without cutting, which makes you sit with its leads as they quietly work through their feelings. That or scramble for dear life like in the mostly one-shot season 1 episode "Review."
Miraculously, "The Bear" managed to top that episode for sheer emotional turbulence with the extra-long season 2 installment "Fishes." Set about five years before the rest of the season, "Fishes" follows series protagonist Carmen "Carmy" Berzatto (Jeremy Allen White) as he returns home from a...

Eli Roth turned adapting the video game “Borderlands” into a mini film school for its young star Ariana Greenblatt.
Roth had Oscar winners Cate Blanchett and Jamie Lee Curtis at his disposal in the space-set sci-fi adventure film, but it was “Barbie” breakout Greenblatt (also of “65” and “In the Heights”) who he says stole the feature. Roth called Greenblatt’s performance in his new film reminiscent of Natalie Portman’s turn in Luc Besson’s controversial crime thriller “Leon: The Professional.”
Pretty good company there.
As it turns out, “Leon: The Professional” is one of Greenblatt’s faves. The young actress (16 now, 13 when she auditioned for “Borderlands,” actually has quite the film palate considering her age. Especially now.
Roth assigned Greenblatt “My Dinner with Andre” to prepare for her “Borderlands” role — “just to fuck with her,” he added. But she dutifully watched it — and as Roth recalled, Greenblatt really dug “the dessert scene.

Over the past few years, one Hollywood mystery has been how the video game adaptation Borderlands managed to attract such a stacked A-list cast led by Cate Blanchett, given its raunchy, violent nature. At CinemaCon on Wednesday, director Eli Roth said the key to landing Blanchett, whom he said he decided to call on a whim, was not thinking she’d take the role.
“People love seeing you with a conductor stick, and I’m going to throw a flame thrower in her hand,” he recalled telling Blanchett, referencing her acclaimed work in Tár. To his surprise, Blanchett said the apocalyptic feature Escape From New York was among her favorite movies, and she was glad to join the project. From there, the rest fell into place.
Blanchett stars as Lilith, the leader of a crew of outlaws on a mission to retrieve treasure from a vault hidden on the planet.

Even Eli Roth can’t believe that two-time Oscar winner Cate Blanchett was willing to learn to twirl guns and shoot baddies in “Borderlands,” the director’s gonzo adaptation of the popular video game.
Roth noted that since people loved seeing Blanchett wield a baton in “Tár,” where she portrayed a fictional world-famous conductor embroiled in controversy, the filmmaker said he might as well “put a flamethrower in her hand.”
In “Borderlands,” Blanchett sports a fiery red bob and is surrounded by the starry ensemble of Kevin Hart, Jamie Lee Curtis, Jack Black and “Barbie” breakout Ariana Greenblatt. The story follows Blanchett as Lilith, an infamous outlaw with a mysterious past. She reluctantly returns to her home planet of Pandora and forms an unexpected alliance to find the missing daughter of Atlas.

"Borderlands" is one of the most popular video game franchises of the 2000s. Now, it's becoming a movie, with Lionsgate hoping to turn it into a franchise for the big screen. Directed by Eli Roth, this video game adaptation has been in the works for a long, long time, but it's finally hitting theaters this summer. That being the case, the studio brought some new footage from the film to this year's CinemaCon in Las Vegas, and I was on hand to see what Roth cooked up.
One thing the movie has going for it is a stellar A-list cast led by Cate Blanchett ("Thor: Ragnarok") as Lilith. The ensemble also includes Jack Black ("The Super Mario Bros. Before he was stealing hearts in Set it Up and Anyone But You, flying planes in Top Gun: Maverick, and chasing tornadoes in Twisters, Glen Powell played frat boy Chad Radwell in the Ryan Murphy drama Scream Queens. This short-lived series may have fizzled out with little fanfare in its second and final season, but for many (myself included), this is the project that first put Powell and his charming humor on our radar.
Scream Queens is a slasher comedy, set at the fictional Wallace University in season 1 and the C.U.R.E. Institute medical school in season 2, that follows the girls of the Kappa Kappa Tau sorority as they try to stay alive in the midst of a killing spree. The popular girls known as the Chanels are the killer’s primary targets, but the killer isn’t afraid to take the frat boys of the Dickie Dollar Scholars down a peg either.

Quick: Name five stars who got their start in horror movies. This is such an easy question, even for much of today’s modern crop of Gen-z talent. So posing it in the 1980s is hardly fair. And yet, that is what Mia Goth’s eternally striving dreamer does at the top of the new MaXXXine trailer from A24.

Cunningham. After all, Bacon got his start in Cunningham’s ‘80s schlock classic,...

Spelling’s “fast and furious” relationship with McDermott famously began when the two cheated on their spouses, Charlie Shanian and Mary Jo Eustace,...

There’s still a few months until Season 3 of The Bear debuts, but Disney is holding audiences over with a clip from the upcoming installment.
The clip, revealed during Disney’s shareholder meeting on Wednesday, features Carmy (Jeremy Allen White) getting a surprise from two of his employees, Neil and Ted Fak (Matty Matheson and Ricky Staffieri).
After a bit of shouting, the pair finally get Carmy into the restaurant’s back office to see they’ve posted photos of every major food critic on the wall. Likely so that all the employees will know as soon as one of them steps foot inside the establishment.
Watch the clip below.
