She rose to prominence in the 1990s as Ginger Spice, a member of the girl group the Spice Girls. With over 100 million records sold worldwide, the Spice Girls are the best-selling female group of all time. Their slogan "girl power" was most closely associated with Halliwell, and her Union Jack dress from the 1997 Brit Awards also became an enduring symbol.Halliwell left the Spice Girls in 1998, citing exhaustion and creative differences, but rejoined when they reunited in 2007.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Bonitao
- From 1994 to May 1998 she was a member of the music band "Spice Girls" as "Ginger Spice" with Melanie Brown (Mel B), Melanie Jayne Chisholm (Mel C), Victoria Adams (later Beckham) and Emma Bunton. The "Spice Girls" were the first cast girl group in the music industry and gained enormous popularity within a very short period of time. The debut single entitled "Wannabe" became a huge hit. This was followed by large-scale promotional tours under the motto "Girl Power" and millions of albums and singles sold. They were considered the female answer to the "Backstreet Boys" and became global stars.
After two albums, a movie, "Spice Girls - The Movie", and countless performances, Halliwell broke away from the "Spice Girls". She felt pushed into the background, spoke of differences of opinion and left the band on March 31, 1998. This step came as a surprise to fans as well as the other band members. Halliwell now completely broke away from her image as "Ginger Spice", auctioned off her entire stage wardrobe for 25 million dollars and announced an imminent comeback. In 1999, Halliwell returned to the international music scene with her solo debut "Schizophonic", where she was again celebrated with success.
Her pieces were now more demanding than those of the "Spice Girls" and she was also able to convince previous critics with her voice. The separation from the "Spice Girls" did not harm Halliwell's popularity. The singer was now more in demand than ever before, especially in Great Britain. Among other things, she appeared in London at the gala for Prince Charles' 50th birthday as Marilyn Monroe, whose famous "Happy Birthday, Mr. President" she sang. Last but not least, her constant presence in the tabloid press contributed to her continued fame. She was said to have affairs with Robbie Williams and basketball star Dirk Nowitzki.
"Scream If You Wanna Go Faster" was more commercially successful than her first solo album in 2001. Mainly the remake of the previous "Weather Girls" hit "It's Raining Men" secured her a number one chart position in several European countries. Her third solo album "Passion" followed in 2005, but it was unable to build on her old successes. Geri Halliwell gave birth to her first daughter named Bluebell Madonna on May 14, 2006. She lives separately from her father, the screenwriter Sacha Gervasi.- IMDb Mini Biography By: Christian_Wolfgang_Barth
