When it comes to the character of Spider-Man, we’ve seen it all from Sam Raimi’s iconic trilogy, the MCU’s more tech-heavy and modern trilogy, some stunning animated Miles Morales films, and even a catalogue of disappointing spin-offs which follow villains like Venom and Morbius. Even Madame Web delivered yet another mediocre spin-off film in Sony’s ongoing attempt to give us Spider-Man movies that don’t feature Spider-Man. But tucked away in the depths of the Spider-Verse is Marc Webb’s 2012 reboot, The Amazing Spider-Man. A film that was released just 5 years after Raimi’s disappointing third installment of the Tobey Maguire era and was marketed to be the untold story of Peter Parker and capture the darker elements of the character and his origins. This, of course is hot off the success of Christopher Nolan’s Batman Begins and Dark Knight films which had added a...

“Don’t Worry Darling,” “9-1-1” and the forthcoming comedy “80 for Brady” were among the winners at the 27th annual California on Location Awards Sunday night.
The ceremony, hosted by “Family Feud” announcer Rubin Ervin, recognized location managers, location teams and public employees who facilitated on-location productions across the state.
“Don’t Worry Darling” received location team of the year for a studio feature, beating category finalists “The Fabelmans” and “White Men Can’t Jump.” Chris Baugh, who was also nominated for his work on “Babylon,” scored location manager of the year for a studio feature for the psychological thriller.

A single white feather drifts out of the sky and lands on the well-traveled sneaker of Forrest Gump (Tom Hanks), a modest man with a big story to tell. Once he's done, a breeze carries the feather away again, perhaps to find another host with another tall tale.
"Forrest Gump" is an unlikely yarn about a young man who ran from bullies, ran for America, and ran for his life (and several others) in Vietnam; a ping-pong champion, shrimp boat captain, long-distance jogging guru, and inspiration for the Smiley Face; and a simple dude devoted to the two women in his life, his mama (Sally Fields) and his best friend Jenny (Robin Wright). Along the way, Forrest also manages to bumble into major points in American history, rubbing shoulders with presidents and the future king of rock 'n' roll.

I've been fascinated by Abraham Lincoln my entire life. I'm sure it has to do with the fact that he was assassinated and there's quite a bit of mystery and intrigue surrounding his presidency and personal life. He did so much in his terms in office and changed our nation for the better while overcoming all sorts of political opposition. I knew I would need to see Steven Spielberg's Lincoln as soon as it was announced in production.
Lincoln focuses on the man's obsession with getting the 13th Amendment pushed through Congress before the Civil War ended. Abe was honest, but would see his mission of obliterating slavery accomplished by any means necessary. His drive and the toll it took on his family life are explored in great detail.

Seth hosted the Academy Awards on Feb. 24 and many felt like his jokes were too mean and now he’s taking to Twitter to tell his fans that he will not be back on the Oscar stage as a host in 2014. Are you surprised?
Seth MacFarlane isn’t hosting the Oscars ever again! The Family Guy creator made fun of Rihanna and Chris Brown, Abraham Lincoln‘s assassination, and Jewish Hollywood. But is the major backlash from his jokes why he’s not coming back?
Seth Says He’s Not Hosting Oscars Again
Seth posted a message for his over three million followers: “Rt @CrusePhoto: @SethMacFarlane Would you host the #Oscars again if asked? // No way. Lotta fun to have done it, though.”
Seth joked during the show by having William Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk come back in time to tell him that he was doing a horrible job as hosting.

Seth MacFarlane did it! We won’t be grabbing our pitchforks & torches — he turned the 85th Oscars into the best in years.
Seth MacFarlane sang about Kristen Stewart‘s boobs, slammed Rihanna and Chris Brown, and even joked about Abraham Lincoln‘s assassination. In other words, nothing was off limits for the Family Guy creator, 39.
Seth MacFarlane As Oscars Host: No Holds Barred
Seth — thank you for taking no prisoners. You may have been totally offensive, joking that John Wilkes Boothe really got inside Abraham Lincoln’s head.
And thanks to you, not being afraid to be offensive, but doing it multiple times, we now have our most entertaining Oscars in our memory.
It was full-on insanity that worked, when you had William Shatner as Captain James T. Kirk drop in from the future to warn you about what a disastrous job you were doing as host.

Despite Jamie Foxx dropping a few too many details about the plot of The Amazing Spider-Man sequel during promotion for Django Unchained, the follow-up to the 2012 reboot is still shrouded in an awful lot of secrecy. Well, thanks to director Marc Webb, we at least now know for sure that we will be seeing more of Oscorp. We'll have to wait and see whether he continues to drop any more details and hints as production continues, but a plot synopsis and official still of some sort surely can't be too far away at this point. What do you think this mysterious looking device could be?! As you can see, director Marc Webb has apparently confirmed that today is the first day of shooting on The Amazing Spider-Man follow-up which will pit the iconic Marvel superhero against Jamie Foxx's Electro. The second Tweet is actually a reference to the blackout which took place during last night's Super Bowl. However, his comment clearly couldn't have come at a better time as filming finally kicks off on the still untitled sequel. Stay tuned to Cbm for further details and updates! Oscar nominations were announced early this morning, and this year’s crop of contenders was comprised of an expected blend of art house favorites, and box office hits. As predicted, Lincoln was the big winner today, scoring 12 nominations. Argo also did well for itself, but missed out on the coveted best director nod for Ben Affleck. Both were critical and commercial successes, but their shared focus on historical politics means it’s likely only one will get the lion’s share of awards, and that’s Lincoln, hands down. The big X-factor this year is Les Misérables, which, despite having a polarizing effect on critics, has become a fourth quarter sensation, earning eight nominations, including Best Actor for Hugh Jackman, and Best Supporting Actress for Anne Hathaway. Despite the lack of a nomination for director Tom Hooper, the film’s popularity, and strong box office receipts make it one to watch.

The buildup to the 85th Academy Awards has officially hit a fever pitch, as the nominations for this year’s Oscars are finally being announced. Show host Seth McFarlane will be delivering the list of films selected by the Academy from the prestigious Samuel Goldwyn Theater, being the first host to do so since 1972. Balancing out the sarcastic Ted creator’s presence will be the universally adored Emma Stone, and the tone going into the event is more excited than usual. With few exceptions, most of the categories will be strongly contested, and staring at the list of potential winners, 2012 was an undeniable improvement over last year.

Screen Actors Guild Awards nominations were announced this morning, and post 50 actors are among some of the biggest winners. Actress Maggie Smith, 77, leads the pack in nominations, nabbing four nods in all, while every actor nominated in the "Outstanding Performance by a Male Actor in a Television Movie or Miniseries" category is 48 or older. Other notable nominees include actors like Denzel Washington, Kevin Costner and Betty White.
The nomination list just further supports the idea that older actors are running Hollywood these days. Of the 50 nominations for individual actors, 27 of the nominees are of the baby boomer generation and 41 of the nominees are age 40 and older.
According to Awards Daily, 55-year-old Daniel Day Lewis responded to nominations for the movie "Lincoln," with this statement: "What a lovely thing for myself, Sally [Fields], Tommy [Lee Jones], and the entire cast to be nominated by our guild." Sally Fields and Tommy Lee Jones are both 66 yearsold.

On the ballot here in Michigan in the last election, there were several proposed amendments to the state constitution. One was concerning the use of Emergency Financial Managers (EFMs). It’s no big news that Michigan is having a hard time of it financially and several municipalities and other local organizations such as school districts have been tottering on their own fiscal cliffs as a result of ineptitude, mismanagement and plain old corruption on the part of the sundry boards, councils, and mayors involved.
The draconian solution devised by the Michigan legislature, itself a meeting place of miscreants and ideologues who are currently ramming through a “right to work” bit of legislation without any public hearings or other forms of democracy, was a pair of Emergency Financial Manages bills. This allowed the governor to appoint a Financial Manager for an undisclosed amount of time who would take over the troubled entity’s finances.

Talking on Rte Television's 'The Late Late Show' earlier today, Martin Sheen has confirmed that he will return as 'Uncle Ben' in Marc Webb's sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. "They've called me back, I don't know what the part is gonna be, but I'm going to be 'Uncle Ben' once again in Spider-Man next year. We shoot it in February," the actor confirmed. The paparazzi were out in full force yesterday to catch Andrew Garfield, Dane Dehaan and another young actor (presumably Brady Corbet, although it could be Alden Ehrenreich - it's hard to tell) arriving at the house of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 director Marc Webb. This at least confirms those earlier reports, but also reveals that a decision clearly has not been made at this point. In related news, it's thought that the production title of the film will be London's Calling, possibly a reference to the fact that in the comic books, Gwen Stacy once spent a considerable amount of time in London. President Abraham Lincoln is, for obvious reasons, one of the toughest historical figures to get right on film. The breadth and impact of his accomplishments is a deep and multifaceted conversation that cannot be taken lightly, and his legendary personality, image, and speaking style are so deeply ingrained, through a variety of interpretations, that defining him in truly revelatory ways is destined to be an uphill battle. Even with Steven Spielberg and Daniel Day-Lewis attached to the project, a dream team that would excite me no matter what the subject matter, I walked into Lincoln with minor trepidations, wondering whether any creative force, even this one, could craft a film worthy of the President’s legacy.
I am overjoyed to report, then, that Spielberg and company have turned in an absolutely spectacular film, one that mines deeply into Lincoln’s psyche and personality, but even deeper into the raw emotions of a broken,...

Last week, we were treated to a quick teaser trailer for director Steven Spielberg's highly anticipated presidential biopic but a second version wasn't far behind. The theatrical preview dropped online today as Spielberg and co-star Joseph Gordon-Levitt unveiled the official full-length trailer during a Google Chat.
Starring multiple-Oscar winning actor Daniel Day Lewis as Honest Abe, the film is based on historian Doris Kearns Goodwin's book about the U.S. President and his Cabinet, "Team of Rivals," which deals with Lincoln's time in office and the obstacles he faced. Spielberg went on to describe the 16th President in the Google Chat as "a monumental president and we treat him as a man, not a monument."
Lincoln, co-starring Sally Fields, Tommy Lee Jones, Lee Pace, David Oyelowo, John Hawkes, James Spader, Walter Goggins, Jackie Earle Haley, David Strathairn and Jared Harris, hits theatres on November 9.

Happy late 4th of July, Tyrants!
So I just saw the reboot that apparently no one wanted. Seriously. When I perused through fan sites and blogs during the months leading up to The Amazing Spider-Man’s premiere I saw nothing but disinterest or annoyance or confusion. "It’s too soon for a reboot…why are they doing another origin story….not seeing this at all…is this Spider-Man 4?” Yeah, that type of commentary. And who could really blame them?
It has been only 5 years since Spider-Man 3 (which sucked). And right when Spider-Man 4 was still in development, a kerfuffle between Raimi and the studio led to him and the cast walking, followed by Sony immediately going into reboot mode (click here for the details.)
Anywho. Now we have a brand new Spider-Man, brand new cast/director and the untold story of Peter Parker’s parents. Yeah, the marketing was not very inspired.

Well, almost all of the sequence, anyway. I think you lose a second or two somewhere in there. But it is, for the most part, a completely sequence from Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man”, and I have to admit, I’m totally digging Spidey’s glib personality. Of course, only in comic books and superhero movies can you just stumble across a guy stealing cars. The sequence is an extended version of the “Police Chase” clip that was posted earlier. And for even more, check out six minutes of Spidey action here. Peter Parker finds a clue that might help him understand why his parents disappeared when he was young. His path puts him on a collision course with Dr. Curt Connors, his father’s former partner. In the interview Marc Webb covers the following information about the movie: * His pitch to get the gig directing the movie * What he took from the comics especially in terms of Gwen Stacy * How he went about finding Andrew Garfield for Peter Parker * What the screenplay was like when he came onboard * Whether The Lizard was in that original screenplay * Tying Spider-Man and The Lizard’s origins together * Why they left out a classic line from the Spider-Man comics * Casting Sally Fields who doesn’t look old enough to play Aunt May * Bringing more realism into the Spider-Man mythos * Why Dr. Curt Connors doesn’t have a prosthetic arm * How he wanted to do more practical stunts even though visual FX have improved since Sam Raimi’s first movie * Visual references taken from the comics * Pushing Spider-Man’s wisecracking * Whether he wants to direct another Spider-Man movie * He says he...

Apparently ol Peter Parker (a surprisingly convincing Andrew Garfield) has yet to learn humility in this phase of his Spider-Man evolution from Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man”, because here he is on the basketball court making a total fool out of poor ol Flash Thompson (Chris Zylka). No doubt ol Flash made Peter’s life miserable pre-superpowers, but come on, man, you’re a superhero! Anyways. Then Spidey like totally just jams it home. If he gives up crimefighting, he could totally take his talents to South Beach. Or possibly Madison Square Garden, which I believe would be closer to home for the wallcrawler. Peter Parker finds a clue that might help him understand why his parents disappeared when he was young. His path puts him on a collision course with Dr. Curt Connors, his father’s former partner. Also starring Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Fields,...

The Marvel Australia branch has released a new trailer for “The Amazing Spider-Man” that features some fresh new footage. Sounds like they’re still pushing the “untold story” angle pretty hard. But I guess Marc Webb and company needed something to justify rebooting the franchise just five years after the last movie, and so — hey, let’s find out what Peter Parker’s mum and dad were up to! There’s more to it than that, of course, though the trailers and posters and promises of an “untold story” would see to indicate the filmmakers are really hoping to convince you this is something you haven’t seen before. I don’t know why they’re clinging to that angle to sell the movie myself. The film looks pretty good just as a stand-alone comic book movie, rebooted or not, and Garfield’s costume is really growing on me big time.

When the main character in a movie has a mask on for much of his action scenes, who can really say how much of it he actually did himself and how much of it the stunt doubles were responsible for? Of course, the studio would love for you to think Andrew Garfield did all the high-flying stunts on Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man” himself, but let’s be real here, that’s probably not the case. Studios have to pay for actor insurances, and it wouldn’t do for your leading man to plummet 30 stories to his death. Stunt doubles, on the other hand, are expendable. Welcome to Hollywood! Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man”, starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Fields, Julianne Nicholson, Campbell Scott, Rhys Ifan, Irrfan Khan, Annie Parisse, Chris Zylka, reboots this Summer on July 3, 2012. Until then, check out some behind-the-scene images of Garfield on the set.

Well, I don't think any of us saw this coming! On the same day that the Government of Alberta classified the upcoming Skyfall teaser trailer (which will be attached to Men in Black 3 on May 25th) they have also classified a Fourth trailer for The Amazing Spider-Man. It's worth noting that it's a different length to the one released earlier this month and unless it's just a slightly different cut of the trailer attached to Marvel's The Avengers, it would appear that Sony Pictures will attempt to boost the box office of Men in Black 3 by attaching a brand new trailer for their other big 2012 release. Starring: Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors/The Lizard Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben Sally Fields as Aunt May Denis Leary as George Stacy Release Date: July 3rd, 2012.

I gotta admit, as neutral as I am about Spidey’s rebooting at the hands of Marc Webb in “The Amazing Spider-Man” (sorry, it just seems like yesterday that I saw “Spider-Man 3″, it just feels so … weird), whoever is cranking out the film’s poster sure doing a swell job. Check out the latest poster, which features Spidey swinging across a city’s skyline. I assume that’s New York City in the background. In the reboot, Spidey battles the Lizard, and, you know, other stuff happens, too. Starring Andrew Garfield, Emma Stone, Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Fields, Julianne Nicholson, Campbell Scott, Rhys Ifan, Irrfan Khan, Annie Parisse, Chris Zylka, and swinging into theaters this Summer. There are a lot of interesting bits and pieces in the below video interview from G4TV, but none more so than director Marc Webb's answer to which villain we might see in the planned sequel to The Amazing Spider-Man. While he refused to directly answer the question for fear of creating too much of a stir, Webb revealed that the Green Goblin, Kraven the Hunter and Mysterio are his top three villains. So, what are the odds one of them turns up in the upcoming sequel?! If the embedded video below doesn't work, click Here. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone get close in the new images of Peter Parker and Gwen Stacy in the latest promo work for The Amazing Spider-Man.
Have I mentioned how thrilled I am that the new Spider-Man film has dumped the worn-out Mary Jane Watson to finally shine the spotlight on the other important woman in Peter’s life? If not, I should have because just seeing a blonde instead of a redhead cuddled up next to him is an excellent indication that things will be different this time around.
Don’t get me wrong. I don’t mean to hate on Mj but it’s a shame that Gwen has constantly been ignored during the wallcrawler’s big screen adventures… and no, I don’t count that misguided appearance in Spider-Man 3.
The newest pics offer two completely different looks at the couple, with the promo image featuring a...

I’m told there are some new, fresh footage in this Japanese trailer for Marc Webb’s “The Amazing Spider-Man”. From what I can tell, there are more look sat Rhys Ifan’s The Lizard, the movie mains villain. I suppose that’s better than regurgitating the Green Goblin or some villain from the first three Sam Raimi movies. You know, kinda like how the Superman movies just keep using Lex Luthor over and over again? Well, until the latest one, that is. Anyways, swing over and check out some of that amazing Spider-guy with this new trailer. The plot for this latest reboot? Spidey learns about his parents, develop powers, fights crimes, and romances Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. Oh yeah, Rhys Ifan turns into the Lizard and does Lizard-y stuff like try to eat Spider-Man. Run, Spidey, run! Also starring Denis Leary, Martin Sheen, Sally Fields, Julianne Nicholson,...

Whenever a rough date for the release of a trailer finds its way online, as it did for The Amazing Spider-Man earlier today courtesy of director Marc Webb, it is not unusual to then find an onslaught of "scoops" and downright guesses as to when exactly it will be available to watch. Rama's Screen has a fairly convincing report on when we might see the trailer, reportedly hearing the information directly from someone "in the industry" who recently met with Sony. According to the site, the trailer will be released online on February 9th and attached to both Journey 2: The Mysterious Island and The Vow. Take it with a pinch of salt for now and sound off with your thoughts in the usual place. Starring: Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker/Spider-Man Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy Rhys Ifans as Curt Connors/The Lizard Martin Sheen as Uncle Ben Sally Fields...

Emma Stone as Gwen Stacy. Let’s face it, that’s just ridiculously perfect casting. I am, of course, being purely superficial here and basing that opinion on these excellent new images of the actress in character. There are other images, too. I guess. Check them out if you have the time. If not? No worries. We’ll get it done another day. Marc Webb’s reboot promises to tell the superhero’s “untold story”. We’ll see if he makes good on that when the film opens July 3, 2012 next year. Starring Andrew Garfield,...

The Interwebs has unearthed three new swanky banners for Marc Web’s “Spider-Man” reboot, since titled “The Amazing Spider-Man”. That means it’s going to be way more amazing than the three Sam Raimi Spider-Man movies. I mean, come on, it’s right there in the title! Anyways, not sure if these banners are real or not, but if they’re fakes, someone really went through a lot of trouble. They’re certainly a bit different in terms of tone than the teaser poster released on Friday, which seemed to be hinting at a darker spidey movie.
