Investigation Discovery’s documentary series Quiet on Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV looks into the unsettling claims made against Brian Peck, the former dialogue coach for Nickelodeon. The four-part series includes interviews with former cast and crew members who talk about the alleged abusive and toxic behavior that went on behind the scenes of their popular shows.
Among them is Drake Bell, star of Drake & Josh, who claims he was molested by Peck several times as a child. The documentary also revealed that Nickelodeon directors Beth and Rich Correll supported Peck in his legal battle against Bell.

Drake Bell revealed on the ID docu-series Quiet On Set: The Dark Side of Kids TV that he was sexually assaulted by former Nickelodeon dialogue coach Brian Peck.
The series also dropped the names of people who wrote letters of support for Peck, so the judge would consider them in the sentencing. Some of the actors that sided with the convicted abuser, according to the docu-series, included James Marsden, Taran Killam, Boy Meets World stars Rider Strong and Will Friedle, as well as Growing Pains parents Joanna Kerns and the late Alan Thicke.
In a recent interview, Bell said that as of now, none of the 41 people who wrote letters in favor of Peck have reached out to him to apologize.
“I haven’t gotten an apology, or a sorry, from anybody that had written letters or was involved in supporting him at all,” Bell said in an interview on The Sarah Fraser Show podcast.

A Million Little Things is bidding farewell to its audience with a parallel to the first season, as the group begins to rally around a friend who is fighting for his life after a cancer diagnosis.
During ABC‘s Television Critics Association panel on Wednesday, showrunner Terrence Coli and executive producer DJ Nash discussed how they were planning to bring the series to a close.
“It feels like a bookend,” said Coli, in reference to how the show began with Jon Dixon (played by Ron Livingston) dying by suicide in the pilot and its impact on his close friends. “The friend group is going to rally around Gary [whose cancer returned in Season 4 but only Maggie knew about it until Rome accidentally stumbled upon his secret in the season finale]. They have been there for reach other and have shown up, through all the trials and tribulations.”

The October 5 episode of The Masked Singer kicks off with panelist Robin Thicke performing the song “As Long As We Got Each Other” in honor of this late dad, who co-wrote the catchy tune. The song was the theme of the long-running sitcom Growing Pains, which aired between 1985 and 1992 and starred Alan Thicke as psychiatrist Jason Seaver, who alongside his wife Maggie (Joanna Kerns) raises a family in suburban New York. The show ran for seven seasons and won two Emmy Awards. Thicke’s performance on the Fox competition is accompanied by a montage of old-school photos of Thicke and fellow Masked Singer members Ken Jeong, Nicole Scherzinger, Jenny McCarthy, and Nick Cannon over the years, which mimics Growing Pains‘ opening credits. Cannon calls the touching performance “an amazing tribute to America’s dad, and Robin’s dad, the unforgettable Alan Thicke.” Thicke passed away from a heart attack at...

When A Million Little Things in May scored an eleventh-hour renewal, Deadline reported that Season 5 was expected to be the final one for the serialized ensemble drama. The network did not confirm it at the time and has yet to acknowledge that Amlt will be ending this coming season, but that remains very much the case.
While ABC has been trying to keep things open — as we reported, the network had asked the Amlt creative team not to write the Season 4 finale as a series finale — the series producers accepted the Season 5 pickup with the presumption that it was going to be the show’s final chapter. ABC has picked up ensemble drama A Million Little Things for a fifth season. The network is not labeling Season 5 as final, but I hear it is expected to be the closing chapter of the DJ Nash-created series.

“A Million Little Things” has been renewed for Season 5 at ABC.
The drama series originally debuted on ABC back in 2018. The plot revolves around a group of friends who reconnect after one of them unexpectedly dies. The Season 4 finale is due to air in May 18.

It’s likely that a lot of folks will always remember Joanna Kerns as Maggie Seaver since this was one of her best and most popular roles. Scott Foley isn’t afraid to admit his love for late 1980s family sitcom “Growing Pains.” “I watched everything about that show,” he told Variety’s “My Favorite Episode” podcast. “From the ‘Entertainment Tonight’ backstage clips where Kirk Cameron got a Honda Prelude — I mean, I remember what kind of car he got. I was a big fan of it. I had a crush on Tracey Gold. I still now will read the People magazine articles on these actors.”
Foley said “Growing Pains” was more than a sitcom to him — it was the dawn of his realization that he could act, on television, for a living. “It was one of the shows that I think I realized, ‘hey I can do that.’ I was at the age where I was starting to form ideas on what my future would be. I loved that time in television. We don’t really have that now.

Jonah Hill has earned two Academy Award nominations, but what he really wants to do is direct. (And rap.) The actor has done just that in collaboration with Danny Brown, whose “Ain’t It Funny” video Hill helmed. Watch below.

Filmed in the style of a bizarre, would-be wholesome sitcom reminiscent of a much darker “Full House,” the video stars Gus Van Sant and Joanna Kerns alongside Brown himself as Uncle Danny, the patriarch of a family that isn’t as PG as the Tanners. Hill’s enthusiasm for rap should be well known by anyone who saw him perform a few lines of “Jumpman” on “SNL” and/or play “Connect 4” with Kanye West.

Jonah Hill will soon mount his feature directorial debut “Mid ’90s,” but the aspiring filmmaker has already cut his teeth in the music video realm, getting behind the camera for Sara Bareilles‘ “Gonna Get Over You.” However, he really takes it up a notch with “Ain’t It Funny” for out there rapper Danny Brown.
Featuring “Growing Pains” Mom Joanna Kerns and Gus Van Sant (who Hill is currently working with on “Don’t Worry, He Won’t Get Far on Foot“), the clever concept imagines Danny Brown as a troubled, sad sack, and potentially dangerous comic relief in an ’80s style sitcom.

It’s awful, it’s terrible, it’s difficult to watch — but it’s finally available in its original 3-D, in the improved Space-Vision process. A giant monkey attacks Seoul, trashing cardboard buildings, toy boats and a dead shark (and it’s not shamming). Keep a good movie on hand to rinse this one away immediately afterwards. Not recommended for people taking prescription medication. If simians persist, consult your doctor.

Under Executive director Roger Durling, the Santa Barbara International Film Festival has flourished by riding the awards season wave via starry onstage interviews with Oscar contenders.
Every year, screenwriters, directors and producers promote their causes on panels, and the likes of Jeff Bridges (a local), Emma Stone and Ryan Gosling, Denzel Washington, and Casey Affleck and Michelle Williams submit to in-depth tributes from Leonard Maltin and Pete Hammond, among others. This year I had the pleasure of a wide-ranging conversation with Best Actress Oscar-nominee Isabelle Huppert. (See video excerpts below.)
And Saturday, the festival wound up its 32nd edition by handing out its annual jury prizes. All eleven are listed below.
The Audience Choice Award went to Yonatan Nir’s “My Hero Brother,” which also took home the Best Documentary Award. It tells the story of a group of young people with Down syndrome who embarking on an arduous trek through the Himalayas.

35 years ago, the actress sang the body electric.
The handful of actresses I associate with motherhood include ’80s movie and TV staples Dee Wallace, Teri Garr, Melinda Dillon, Joanna Kerns, Judith Light, and Meredith Baxter. They were the ones that comforted me when I was a kid. But when it comes to images of grandmothers, only one woman comes to mind: Maureen Stapleton.
On January 17, 1982, Stapleton was only 55 years old. She had three Academy Award nominations under her belt and was about to receive her fourth. She would win that Oscar for Best Supporting Actress at the end of March for her performance as Emma Goldman in Reds. But on this particular night, she was on television in the title role of The Electric Grandmother.

Alan Thicke, who died Tuesday at the age of 69, was widely known for his starring role as Dr. Jason Seaver on Growing Pains — but it was a role he almost didn’t get.
When the role first came up, Thicke was coming off the failure of his 1983 syndicated late night talk show Thicke of the Night — which was meant to rival Johnny Carson’s The Tonight Show but ended up being canceled within its first year. His reputation damaged, Thicke was worried the show’s demise might have actually marked the end of his on-camera career.
