Netflix’s official trailer for Damsel boasts that while there’s a handsome prince and a pretty princess, this is is no ordinary fairy tale. Millie Bobby Brown takes matters into her own hands after being tricked by a prince, vowing to take down those who take advantage of innocent women.
In addition to Stranger Things‘ Millie Bobby Brown, the cast of the action thriller includes Ray Winstone, Nick Robinson, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Brooke Carter, Angela Bassett, and Robin Wright.
“A dutiful damsel agrees to marry a handsome prince, only to find the royal family has recruited her as a sacrifice to repay an ancient debt,” reads Netflix’s synopsis. “Thrown into a cave with a fire-breathing dragon, she must rely on her wits and will to survive.”

Netflix has set a March 8, 2024 premiere date for the dark fairy tale action film Damsel starring Stranger Things‘ Millie Bobby Brown. The premiere date announcement was accompanied by a new teaser poster featuring an up-close photo of Brown’s left eye reflecting a dragon soaring overhead. It appears Brown’s keeping an eye out for that particular creature.
“We were so lucky to have Millie,” said Oscar-nominated filmmaker Juan Carlos Fresnadillo in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum. “She’s a very charismatic, sparkling personality. She has that quality that only stars have, which is you cannot take your eyes off her. She has the ability in this movie, in such a magical way, to bring the audience into her journey and take them into that kind of dark, intense, and thrilling adventure that she’s having. She’s the heart of the movie.

Netflix’s first two-minute teaser trailer for Damsel confirms the princess at the heart of the film isn’t of the damsel-in-distress variety. Stranger Things‘ Millie Bobby Brown slips into action mode as a princess who is forced to take on a fire-breathing dragon, among other dangerous tasks.
“What I really loved in the script from Dan Mazeau was embracing the idea of a fantasy adventure and a princess and dragon story, but taking it into a place [where] it’s completely upside down,” said Oscar-nominated director Juan Carlos Fresnadillo in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum. “It was a very intense journey that I was so excited to design and to develop. At the core, this is such a beautiful story about a young woman becoming a strong, independent, and empowered adult. Elodie doesn’t have any kind of support. It’s a real survival experience.”

Directed by Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and written by Dan Mazeau, the film follows Brown’s “dutiful” Damsel after she’s selected to and agrees to marry a handsome prince. But her magical future turns into a nightmare present after she learns she’s being used by the royal family as a sacrifice to pay an ancient debt — leaving her to defend herself against a treacherous threat.
“For generations, it has been our task to protect our people. So tonight, you join a long line of women who have helped to build this kingdom,” Robin Wright’s queen can be heard saying. “The price is dear, but so too the reward.”

Some people just have a different sense of time than others. You know that friend who is always late to every meetup? As it turns out, this friend has something in common with "Transformers" franchise director Michael Bay, according to a behind-the-scenes featurette about the 2009 film, "Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen."
Many actors and crew who have worked with Bay on the "Transformers" movies have spoken about how he can be tough on set, and yet they keep coming back to work with him. In fact, in a 2016 IGN article, Josh Duhamel, who has been in a number of the films, spoke about how "80% of this crew was there from the beginning [the first film was released in 2007], from the very first movie. [...] People can say what they want about him, but these people love him. They hate him at times, but they also love him."

After nearly half a year of negotiations, Netflix has closed a deal for the next big-budget movie from Joe and Anthony Russo.
The duo, known for the Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame mega-blockbusters, will direct The Electric State for the streaming giant, a move that reunites them with the company behind their current project, the action movie The Gray May, which debuts in July.
Millie Bobby Brown, the breakout star of Netflix’s Stranger Things, is on board to star in the feature, with Chris Pratt, who appeared in the Russos’ Avengers movies, in talks to join her.
Christopher Markus, Stephen McFeely, longtime Russo scribes who worked on Gray Man as well as the Avengers pics, are writing the script.
The cost isn’t cheap. The project was previously set up at Universal, which eventually balked at the price tag and put it into turnaround.

In his new film “Cherry,” Tom Holland has gone from Spider-Man to finally breaking bad, showing a tougher, darker side than the perky chatterbox that is Peter Parker.
The first trailer for “Cherry” — which reunites Holland with “Avengers” directors the Russo Brothers — shows him robbing banks, but doing so calmly and even politely.
“I’m 23 years old, and sometimes I wonder if life is wasted on me,” Holland says in the trailer. “My greatest accomplishment is not dying.”
“Cherry” is based on Nico Walker’s 2018 novel of the same name. The story follows a young man from Ohio who drops out of college to serve in Iraq as an Army medic, only to return home with a serious case of Ptsd that spirals into drug addiction. Surrounded by other depraved misfits and draining his finances, he turns to robbing banks in order to fuel his bad habits, slowly alienating his true love along the way.

Tom Holland takes on the role of an addict forced to rob banks to pay off his debt in trailer for “Cherry,” which dropped Thursday.
The film is directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, who are from Cleveland, Ohio — the same place where Holland’s character is from. With a serious theme of drug addiction at the center of the crime drama, the Russos hope to shine a light on the impact of the opioid crisis.
“It’s a very emotionally important movie for us. That part of the country has been designated ground zero for the opioid crisis,” Joe Russo said in a Q&a with Inverse. “We’ve had a lot of people we were very close to die because of the crisis. “Wayne” star Ciara Bravo is set to co-star with Tom Holland in Anthony and Joe Russo’s next film, “Cherry,” the sibling duo’s follow-up to the massive hit “Avengers: Endgame.”
The remaining ensemble includes “It” star Bill Skarsgard, Jack Reynor, Forrest Goodluck, Jeff Wahlberg, Michael Gandolfini and Kyle Harvey. The Russo brothers will direct the adaptation of Nico Walker’s New York Times bestselling novel. Production is currently under way.
“We were drawn to ‘Cherry’ given our personal experience from Cleveland, as well as the important need to share stories like these. As Cleveland natives ourselves, it means a lot to us to be able to film in our hometown. We shot the exteriors for ‘Winter Soldier’ here, we are excited to return home to our roots,” said Anthony and Joe Russo.

This past weekend, Avengers: Infinity War made history.
A $641 million global box office was enough to propel Marvel’s titanic tentpole all the way to the number-one spot, where it became the most successful domestic (and global!) debut of all time. That’s right, neither The Force Awakens ($248 million domestic) nor The Fate of the Furious ($542 million worldwide) stood much of a chance against Infinity War, which has blazed a path of its own all the way into the Hollywood history books, where it’ll likely remain king for a very, very long time.
All of this has prompted the Mad Titan himself, Josh Brolin, to post a heartfelt thank you message via Instagram (h/t ComicBook.com), where he took a moment to toast the Marvel community and his collaborators for delivering the “biggest opening in movie history.”
Hey guys, I just want to say that I’m completely...

WELLINGTON, New Zealand -- The hiring of a second assistant director from the United States on the New Zealand shoot of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe has provoked an immigration battle between the New Zealand government and the film industry. The government has overruled a New Zealand Film and Video Technicians Guild objection to Chris Castaldi being employed in an intermediate post when a Kiwi could have done the work. The objection was only the guild's third in seven years of helping the Immigration Service to process 500 film industry work permits annually.
