- Although Nykvist is well-known for his distinctive black-and-white cinematography in many of Ingmar Bergman's films such as Persona (1966) and Hour of the Wolf (1968), his two Oscars victories (Cries & Whispers (1972) and Fanny and Alexander (1982)) and one more nomination (The Unbearable Lightness of Being (1988)) were all for colour films. The latter includes minor black-and-white scenes.
