Last year, big screen icon Arnold Schwarzenegger made his small screen debut, starring as stogie-smoking CIA operative Luke Brunner in Netflix's action-comedy Fubar. With millions of viewers tuning in to see the streamer's Chief Action Officer in, er, action, a second season was greenlit within weeks. And with production already underway on Brunner's return, we now know who Luke and spook daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro) will be facing this time around — and folks, they're going to have their work cut out for them. None other than The Matrix's Trinity herself, Carrie-Anne Moss, has joined the cast of Fubar S2.
As THR reports, action veteran Moss is set to play Luke's former adversary — and former lover — Greta Nelso in the second season. An ex-East German spy who shares "a passionate history" with our man Luke, Greta will represent a new kind of challenge for Arnie's hero, who not...

The second season of Fubar is currently being worked on, but Netflix hasn’t confirmed a release date for the season. The first season of the series consists of a total of eight episodes.

Carrie-Anne Moss, best known for her iconic role as Trinity in 'The Matrix' franchise, is set to join Arnold Schwarzenegger and the cast of "FUBAR" for the show's second season on Netflix.
Moss will play Greta Nelso, described as a former East German spy who has a "passionate history" with Schwarzenegger's character, Luke Brunner. In the new season, Luke finds himself facing off against villains from his past, including an old flame (Moss) who threatens to destroy the world.
"We're thrilled to welcome Carrie-Anne Moss to the cast of "FUBAR" for what promises to be an action-packed second season," said creator and showrunner Nick Santora. "Her character Greta Nelso adds an exciting new dynamic as a nuanced adversary with complicated ties to Arnold's Luke Brunner."
In addition to Schwarzenegger and Moss, Season 2 will see the return of Monica Barbaro, Fortune Feimster, Travis Van Winkle, Jay Baruchel, Aparna Brielle, Andy Buckley, Milan Carter, Fabiana Udenio, and Barbara Eve Harris.
The satirical spy series, produced by Skydance Television, follows CIA operative Luke Brunner (Schwarzenegger) who finds himself thrust back into action after saving his daughter during an intended retirement mission in Season 1.
The series' first season garnered praise for its offbeat blend of action, comedy, and family dynamics anchored by Schwarzenegger's first major TV role. Season 2 will continue exploring those elements while raising the stakes with new threats for Brunner to confront.
A release date for the eight-episode season has not been announced yet. The series is executive produced by Santora, Schwarzenegger, Adam Higgs, Scott Sullivan, and others.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has provided an update to fans after undergoing open-heart surgery, offering some encouragement that he won’t be away from business for too long. The 76-year-old actor and former Governor of California shared a photograph from recovery, including a sight gag about his new pacemaker, depicted as a cartoon-esque time bomb.

Absolutely not,” Schwarzenegger wrote in a post Thursday afternoon. “I will be ready to film in April and you can only see it if you’re really looking for it.”

Three open-heart surgeries and a pacemaker haven’t slowed Arnold Schwarzenegger down — or stifled his sense of humor.

You don't hire Arnold Schwarzenegger to be your Chief Action Officer and then don't double down on shows featuring him. Netflix is avoiding that mistake, announcing a second season for spy comedy Fubar, which stars the Austrian Oak. And along with that, there was a blooper reel from the first.
Fubar, created by Nick Santora, follows what happens when a father (Schwarzenegger's Luke Brunner) and daughter (Top Gun Maverick's Monica Barbaro as Emma) learn that they’ve each secretly been working as CIA Operatives for years, they realize their entire relationship has been a lie and they truly don’t know one another at all.
Jay Baruchel, Fortune Feimster, Fabiana Udenio, Milan Carter and Travis Van Winkle are all in the cast for this one, though there's no date yet for the new season.

Well, we can file this one under the least surprising TV news of the year.
Netflix has confirmed it is staying in business with Arnold Schwarzenegger with the pickup of Fubar Season 2.
The series got off the ground running for the streaming service in May, vaulting to the #1 spot in the weekly Netflix Top 10.
Any project featuring the Terminator alum will perform well, and it's because he's a global star.
Fubar reached the Top 10 in 90 countries worldwide, solidifying its renewal after a decent reaction to the episodes from viewers.
It's unclear when Fubar season 2 will actually premiere, but it probably won't be in production in the near future.
The WGA strike will delay several projects, so the writing won't resume until a fair deal is reached.
Netflix confirmed Fubar's fate during the Tudum Global Fan Event, which also included an Elite Season 7 premiere date, a Witcher Sneak Peek, and so much more.

Netflix had a nice few days leading up to Memorial Day Weekend 2023.
According to new research from Antenna, from May 24-27, Netflix enjoyed its four largest days of U.S. signups in the four-and-a-half years it’s measured the streamer. Netflix saw nearly 100,000 sign-ups on both the 26th and the 27th.
Why those days? On May 23, Netflix began to inform subscribers in America it was cracking down on password sharing. Clearly, the binging public met that call to action with a whole lot of action. In other words (speaking of “action”), it probably wasn’t all for new Arnold Schwarzenegger series “Fubar,” which Netflix released on May 25 and is still going strong on its weekly Top 10.
Over the full four-day period highlighted in Antenna’s findings, Netflix signed up an average of 73,000 subscribers, a 102-percent improvement over the prior 60-day average, according to data from what Antenna calls its Acquisition Drivers product.

Hollywood icon and literal living legend Clint Eastwood turned 93 on Wednesday, marking yet another amazing milestone in a life full of them. And in honor of the “Unforgiven” director’s big day, fellow action star Arnold Schwarzenegger paid tribute in a short but nevertheless touching Instagram post.
“Happy birthday, Clint! You’ve inspired me, you’ve mentored me, and you’re a wonderful friend. At 93, you prove that heroes don’t retire – they reload. You’re a legend,” Schwarzenegger wrote in a message posted along with a recent but undated photo of the pair skiing.

In the season finale of Arnold Schwarzenegger's "Fubar," it's unclear if it's the CIA mission gone wrong or the Brenner family's personal lives that wind up totally F.U.B.A.R. by the end of the episode. In episode 8, "That's It and That's All," Luke (Schwarzenegger) and his daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro) are forced to reveal that they are secretly CIA operatives when the main villain, Boro (Gabriel Luna), gives new meaning to the term wedding crasher. Luke certainly doesn't want to see his ex-wife Tally (Fabiana Udenio) get married to another man, but shooting up the entire ceremony isn't exactly the best way to raise an objection.
For a spy thriller starring one of our most recognized action icons, "Fubar" is actually not as bloody as you might expect. After taking out the entire L.A.P.D. police station in "The Terminator," blowing up an army base in "Commando,...

"It's totally Fubar," muses Arnold Schwarzenegger's CIA veteran Luke Brunner, after his spy cover and that of his team is completely blown at the end of Netflix's "Fubar." The season finale embraced chaos to end things on a cliffhanger — dangerous arms dealer Boro (Gabriel Luna) is presumed to be dead after Luke leaves him to die in an underground bunker, but the man returns to disrupt a wedding ceremony. The personal and the political are at odds until the very end, as Luke's ex-wife, Tally (Fabiana Udenio) is about to marry her new flame Donnie (Andy Buckley), and Luke finally has a chance to come clean about his past and win her over before she goes through with the marriage.

"He's ready to risk it all to protect his family... and save the world!" Ha! Dang this is pretty funny. Netflix has posted an amusing throwback action figure commercial promo video for the Fubar spy comedy action series. It just started streaming this past weekend (view here), and they're trying to build the buzz with some clever viral marketing stunts. Arnold Schwarzenegger's Fubar is a global spy adventure - when a father & daughter learn that they’ve each secretly been working as CIA Operatives for years, they realize their entire relationship has been a lie and they truly don’t know one another at all. It's pretty much a True Lies sequel. Fubar stars Arnold, along with Monica Barbaro, Milan Carter, Gabriel Luna, Fortune Feimster, Travis Van Winkle, Fabiana Udenio, Barbara Eve Harris, Aparna Brielle, Andy Buckley, and Jay Baruchel. I'm smiling at how much they pack into this 90 second video,...

Plot: A CIA Operative on the verge of retirement discovers a family secret. Forced to go back into the field for one last job, the series tackles universal family dynamics set against a global backdrop of spies, action and humor.
Review: Over the six decades of his acting career, Arnold Schwarzenegger has been in comedies, dramas, action movies, and horror flicks, but until now, he has not starred in a television series. With streaming services now as robust as any movie studio, the biggest names in Hollywood have headlined their own small-screen shows. Schwarzenegger’s Netflix series Fubar tries to replicate the best elements of the iconic actor’s filmography by blending action and humor with some new blood in the form of Top Gun: Maverick star Monica Barbaro. Fubar aims high but feels barely more than a network television spy series that could have been so much better considering the talent involved.

In our new era of prestige television, no other show on the airwaves has depicted the harsh realities and painful sacrifices that have to be made in the high stakes world of espionage more than FX's "The Americans." In the series, which ran for six seasons, Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys play two Russian spies who are assigned together as an unassuming husband and wife couple named Elizabeth and Phillip Jennings. Working for the Kgb, they must blend in with the American way of life that they detest (at least at first) to steal secrets from the U.S. during the Cold War. By the series' end, they've committed unforgivable acts and forever altered their relationship with their daughter, and are then forced to return to a homeland they no longer recognize. It's a dark fate, and one they manage to survive because they have each other and they've...

The Arnold Schwarzenegger Netflix spy comedy “Fubar” starts out so unfettered by reality that it holds real promise.
Luke Brunner, the CIA operative played by Schwarzenegger, who is 75, is described as being 65. He is on the eve of retirement when they pull him back in to infiltrate the Guyana compound of arms dealer Boro (Gabriel Luna), a guy so brutal that he kills an associate on stage at an outdoor party and orders the blood-splattered band to keep playing.
Also in Guyana is Luke’s do-gooder daughter, Emma. Unbeknownst to her father, she is also a CIA operative and so deeply embedded in Boro’s world that she has become his favorite fight-club competitor.

Arnold Schwarzenegger stars in Fubar, a new Netflix series created by Nick Santora.
As the song says, time goes by. It’s inevitable and remembering past moments with James Cameron isn’t bad at all. On that occasion, it was with the great Jamie Lee Curtis, and now it is with the also great Monica Barbaro.
That movie, True Lies, was highly entertaining and spectacular. Fubar is not as entertaining, it has a different format, Mr. Pumpkin is a bit older, and times have changed, as the series insists on reminding us, in an amusing, if not brilliant, generational renewal.
But we like this gentleman and the series is, at least, enjoyable within its pretensions.
Fubar (2023-) About the series

You probably didn’t notice, but earlier this year, CBS launched a TV adaptation of True Lies, the 1994 James Cameron-directed action comedy that starred Arnold Schwarzenegger and Jamie Lee Curtis as, respectively, a master spy and the civilian wife who is shocked to discover what her husband really does for a living. The TV show, starring Steve Howey from Shameless and Ginger Gonzaga from She-Hulk in the Arnold and Jamie Lee roles, aired 13 episodes to very little fanfare before being canceled a few weeks ago.

We’re at least a decade past the point at which seeing a so-called “movie star” deigning to grace the small screen could be conceived of as a novelty. Heck, we’re coming off a spring in which Harrison Ford was starring in multiple television shows at the same time.
Still, there’s an immediate pleasure that comes from witnessing former California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger make a late arrival to the streaming landscape as the star of Netflix’s new action comedy Fubar.
Like his Planet Hollywood comrade Sylvester Stallone, currently getting to relive his Oscar and Stop! Or My Mom Will Shoot salad days on the Paramount+ dime, Schwarzenegger is using his streaming platform as something of a time machine.

It's easy to love Arnold Schwarzenegger. While no one would claim the Austrian Oak was an acting great with the range to slip in and out of any character, there's always been a distinct, lovable charm to Arnold. Despite his hulking, muscular frame, there's something downright cuddly about the body builder-turned-actor. We want to give him a hug, even when he's firing huge weapons at nameless bad guys.
While he occasionally plays cruel killers — see the first "Terminator" — he thrives in roles that let him have fun — see the second "Terminator." We can't help but love the guy, with his huge biceps, his thick accent, and the mischievous little twinkle he always has in his eye. When he utters the phrase "Trust me" with a sly little smile in "Terminator 2: Judgement Day," we do trust him. How can we not? He's Arnold!
All of this is to say that...

Arnold Schwarzenegger celebrated his first-ever television show, Netflix’s action-spy comedy “Fubar,” on Monday in Los Angeles.
“I just think that every stage in my career was an exciting stage,” Schwarzenegger told Variety. “I know normally you wouldn’t think that when you’re 75-years-old that there’s an exciting stage because most people are retired, but here I am.”
Schwarzenegger stars in “Fubar” as an almost-retired CIA operative alongside Monica Barbaro, who plays his daughter.
Milan Carter plays Schwarzenegger’s nerdy and unassuming, yet heroic, right-hand spy Barry. “What I really loved about playing Barry is that it’s not often you see a Black guy with an afro in the CIA,” Carter said. “So thank you, [series creator] Nick Santoro and Netflix, for taking a chance and representing differences.”
“My favorite moment was when Fortune [Feimster] couldn’t say the line, ‘Boro Polonia, I’m gonna fry his bologna.’” said Carter.

Arnold Schwarzenegger tackles his first starring role in a series with Fubar, an action-packed comedy series that finds him playing a spy on the verge of retirement. Of course he doesn’t retire and, of course, the full trailer for the Netflix series shows Schwarzenegger’s still got it as an action star.
In addition to Arnold Schwarzenegger, the cast of the eight-episode season includes Monica Barbaro, Milan Carter, Gabriel Luna, Fortune Feimster, and Travis Van Winkle. Fabiana Udenio, Barbara Eve Harris, Aparna Brielle, Andy Buckley, and Jay Baruchel also star.
Nick Santora created the series and serves as executive producer and showrunner. Additional executive producers include Adam Higgs, Scott Sullivan, Holly Dale, Bill Bost, and Skydance’s David Ellison and Dana Goldberg.

He's back. And this time, he's coming for the world of streaming TV shows. Arnold Schwarzenegger was once the biggest movie star on the planet, but, amazingly enough, he's never in all of his years of stardom been at the center of a scripted TV show. That changes now, as Netflix has roped in the legendary action star for "Fubar," which is due to arrive on the streaming service next month. It very much looks like a modern action movie made for streaming -- only stretched out to the length of a series.
So, why now? What makes this the right time for the "Terminator"and "Predator" star to make the jump to the small screen? If this trailer is anything to go by, budgetary issues certainly aren't getting in the way like they would have in the '90s. Let's have a look at the trailer, shall we?

Who is your daddy, and what does he do? In Fubar, Arnold Schwarzenegger is a retired CIA agent pulled into another mission that changes everything he knows about the apple of his eye. Loosely based on 1994’s True Lies, today’s Fubar trailer brings Schwarzenegger to the small screen for an action-packed, eight-episode series.
Fubar shows what happens when a father and daughter discover their relationship is a lie and they are each CIA operatives. As the two join forces, the eight-episode series will depict themes of family dynamics with humor, action, and spies.
Netflix’s Fubar trailer offers a hilarious look at Schwarzenegger – who is 76 years old – getting back to his action roots. While Barbaro does most of the heavy lifting in the hand-to-hand department, Arnold still displays his chops while dispatching goons like a pro. Get to the chopper — or better yet — to Netflix.
Arnold Schwarzenegger is back with a trailer for “Fubar,” Netflix’s upcoming spy-adventure series starring the former Governator and “Top Gun: Maverick” actor Monica Barbaro.
The show follows father and daughter CIA operatives Luke (Schwarzenegger) and Emma Brunner (Barbaro) who discover they lived their entire lives unaware that the other was also part of the secretive agency. Just when he thought he was out, Luke gets pulled back in for one last job, but this time with his daughter. The series will have eight episodes.
The first teaser, released on Feb. 27, revealed that Schwarzenegger had yet to leave behind his one-liners and stogies, along with his love for action stories. “Fubar” shares some of the spy dramedy qualities of Schwarzenegger’s 1994 film “True Lies” with Jamie Lee Curtis. After being a box office stable for decades, Arnold Schwarzenegger is finally coming to the world of television. Netflix has released the first trailer for “Fubar,” its upcoming action comedy about a CIA operative who joins his daughter for one final mission. The eight-episode series is set to premiere on the streaming service May 25.
The first few seconds of the “Fubar” trailer make it look like your typical Schwarzenegger movie. Luke (Schwarzenegger) is captured by a group of thugs who seem hellbent on making him pay. Seconds later, he breaks free and makes good on his promise to “kill all of you and then leave.” Back at the CIA, he’s surrounded by adoring co-workers who are happy to celebrate his impending retirement. But all of his happiness fades when Luke learns that his daughter Emma (Monica Barbaro) has followed in his footsteps to join this highly secretive and dangerous world.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is ready to fill a pothole in Netflix’s action series lineup.
Below is the official trailer for the icon’s new series Fubar, a project loosely inspired by his 1994 hit True Lies. The series represents the Terminator star and former California governor’s first regular TV gig.
The setup: “When a father (Schwarzenegger) and daughter (Monica Barbaro) learn that they’ve each secretly been working as CIA operatives for years, they realize their entire relationship has been a lie and they truly don’t know one another at all. Forced to team up as partners, the series tackles universal family dynamics set against a global backdrop of spies, action and humor.”
The series co-stars Barbaro, coming off Top Gun: Maverick in a performance that displays myriad action-drama-comedy talents, as she goes toe-to-toe with the 76-year-old icon (she was also famously one of only a few actors who...

"I'm back, baby." Netflix has revealed a first look teaser for a series called Fubar, a spy comedy thriller from TV creator Nick Santora. So This is pretty much Arnold's continuation of Cameron's True Lies, even though they already made a True Lies sequel series (this one) and apparently it's no good. Fubar is a global spy adventure with a father and daughter at the center of the story. Schwarzenegger explains: "Everywhere I go, people ask me when I’m going to do another big action comedy like True Lies. Well, here it is. Fubar will kick your ass and make you laugh - and not just for two hours. You get a whole season." Sounds good, I guess? We'll find out soon enough. Fubar stars Arnold, along with Monica Barbaro, Milan Carter, Gabriel Luna, Fortune Feimster, Travis Van Winkle, Fabiana Udenio, Barbara Eve Harris, Aparna Brielle, Andy Buckley, and Jay Baruchel.

Arnold Schwarzenegger has to get through just one more job before retirement in his upcoming series, Fubar, set to premiere on May 25 on Netflix.
The eight-episode show boasts a classic set-up, with Schwarzenegger starring as a CIA operative who’s so close to finally calling it quits when he uncovers a family secret and is forced back into the field for one last mission. A short teaser doesn’t give anything away in terms of plot, but it does find Schwarzenegger doing the thing where he up-cycles one of his...
