One of Robin Williams’ most iconic roles was as the Genie in the 1992 Disney film Aladdin. For being a supporting role, he certainly commanding more than his fair share of attention (which got the Mouse House into some trouble when the character’s overt presence in advertising violated his original agreement to do the film for scale). Since the release of Aladdin, Williams became a Disney legend and lent his voice to the character later for the direct-to-video sequel Aladdin and the King of Thieves. Beloved Broadway star Bruce Adler has lost his cancer battle at the age of 63.
Adler died early on Friday, according to reports.
A multi-Tony Award nominee, Adler starred in hit musicals Crazy For You, Those Were The Days and Sunday in the Park With George.
He also appeared on TV in Law + Order and the small screen adaptation of Crazy For You, and his voice can be heard in Disney animated films Beauty and The Beast and Aladdin.
Adler also starred in the 1979 revival of Oklahoma! and portrayed Fiddler On The Roof's Tevye, Fagin in Oliver and Nathan Detroit in Guys and Dolls onstage in America.
