French director Alexandre Aja has been in the horror game for a long time; over two decades, in fact. His 2003 breakout “High Tension” cemented him as an up-and-comer in the genre, and after moving stateside to work in Hollywood, he furthered his career with remakes like “The Hills Have Eyes” and “Piranha.” But Aja hasn’t had a real hit since 2019’s “Crawl,” a taut survivalist thriller B-movie that revived the director’s career.

Halle Berry plays a mother with twin sons battling an evil spirit closing in on their wilderness home after a world-ending event in the trailer for Lionsgate’s Never Let Go, which dropped Thursday.
In the horror-thriller, director Alexandre Aja (The Hills Have Eyes, Crawl) has the remote house in the woods fitted with a long ropes to enable mother and sons to remain connected at all times as unseen dangers approach.
“The evil out there is clever. One touch without a rope is all it takes,” Berry’s character tells her sons at one point in the trailer, as they commit to keep tethered to the ropes for safety and connection. But as demonic forces engulf their off-the-grid house, one of the twins questions whether evil exists.
And that breaks the family bond and triggers an all-out battle for survival. “That rope is your lifeline. Never let go. Say it,...

Oooh, this looks creepy.
"Never Let Go" is a new horror film from Alexandre Aja, director of the pretty good remake of "The Hills Have Eyes" and the excellent killer alligator movie "Crawl." With his new feature, Aja seems to be channeling "A Quiet Place" crossed with a bit of the supernatural, resulting in this effective trailer. In "Never Let Go," Halle Berry plays a mother who is hiding out in the woods with her twin sons. According to Berry's character, these are post-apocalyptic times. Berry tells her sons that they'll be safe as long as they tether themselves to the secluded cabin where they're hiding out. But what's really going on here? And what's lurking out in the woods? I don't know. All I know is that the dog that shows up in the trailer better make it out alive.

After crafting some of the most entertaining B-movies in recent years with Crawl and Oxygen, Alexandre Aja is returning with a new one-location psychological thriller this year. Never Let Go, not to be confused with Kazuo Ishiguro’s book and Mark Romanek’s adaptation, stars Halle Berry, Percy Daggs IV, and Anthony B. Jenkins. Ahead of a September release, the first trailer has now arrived.

Originally announced last year under the title Mother Land, the next film from director Alexandre Aja (High Tension, The Hills Have Eyes, Piranha 3D, Crawl) is now titled Never Let Go, and Lionsgate has released the official trailer this morning. Watch it below.
Never Let Go arrives in theaters on September 27, 2024. The premise for this one looks to be similar to films including A Quiet Place and Bird Box, centered on a small family unit’s struggle to survive within a world gone to hell. There’s a whole lot of snake-like imagery in this first look trailer – jump to 1:44 for a blink-and-miss-it little tease… or check out our screen-grab below – but the threat outside their door is still very much a mystery at this point in time.
All we know is… one touch is all it takes…
Academy Award winner Halle Berry is leading the film’s cast.

Even after decades of masked killers armed with increasingly ludicrous weapons, cinemagoers still flock to theaters to experience the raw thrills of watching homicidal maniacs hunt the most dangerous game. And while there’s nothing wrong with filmmakers choosing to rely on tried-and-true formulas when depicting classic cat-and-mouse conflicts, the sheer amount of these movies means that horror fans often find themselves wishing for riskier takes on these familiar ideas.
Thankfully, there are some brave filmmakers out there that use of the basic premise of a slasher as a jumping off point to tell more creative stories. A recent example of this is Chris Nash’s highly ambitious In a Violent Nature, a Friday-the-13th-inspired horror film told from the melancholy perspective of the undead killer himself. And with the film impressing genre fans with its artsy reinvention of common clichés, we’ve decided to come up with a...

Cocaine Bear surprised everyone with its box office haul. For fans of animal attack movies, this is not a shock. People love animal attack films and can’t get enough of them. I’m not sure if it’s the man vs. nature theme of the films, the animals themselves getting revenge on humans, or just the all-around fun these films bring. No matter what, they are enjoyable for audiences in theaters. There has been a long history of animals attacking humans on film. Some films that are classified as ‘classic’ cinema fall into the animal attack category. We can always use more movies of animals rampaging through humans on the big screen. What are some of the best animal attack movies?

DreamWorks Animation’s The Wild Robot will now go on Sept. 27 instead of Sept. 20.
The move comes in the wake of Paramount’s animated Transformers One parking on Sept. 20 (instead of Sept. 13) as the studio needed to get a foothold on Imax auditoriums.
We heard that Transformers One was moved to get further away from Beetlejuice Beetlejuice as that Warner Bros Tim Burton directed, Michael Keaton starring sequel is expected to scare up a ton of September cash; that movie opening on Sept. 6.
The Wild Robot will now square off against Lionsgate’s Alexandre Aja directed horror Halle Berry thriller, Never Let Go as well as the tenth anniversary Imax re-release of Paramount/Warner Bros’ Christopher Nolan sci-fi movie, Interstellar.
The Wild Robot is based on Peter Brown’s New York Times No. 1 bestseller. The movie follows robot—Rozzum unit 7134 aka “Roz”. Roz is shipwrecked on an uninhabited island and...

The Hills Have Eyes 2. No, not that one. That’s The Hills Have Eyes Part 2 and has one of the greatest things ever filmed where a dog, an actual dog, has a flashback and its just, muah, chef’s kiss. While I actually think that original 1985 sequel is way too much fun for its own good – it was written and directed by Craven, brings back Michael Berryman, has Harry Manfredini give us the score, and oh yeah, has a dog flashback. The Oscar winner turned up in Las Vegas on Wednesday during Lionsgate’s studio presentation to promote its new film, Alexandre Aja’s Never Let Go, which brings Berry back into a genre she explored more than 20 years ago, in earlier work like Gothika. But this one pushed her to new limits.

Update: A trailer for Never Let Go was shown during the Lionsgate panel at CinemaCon today, and JoBlo’s own Lance Vlcek was in attendance. Here’s a description of what he saw: “Halle Berry and her two kids are living in a cabin after the world ends. This cabin has a rope/pulley system & they must be attached to you when leaving the house. The monsters/entities (they are very vague on what the threat is but its something that is physical) can’t get you with the rope attached to you and so they (monsters?) are trying to convince one child to doubt the rope safety. They want them to detach and if so, we see that it would put them in grave danger. The kids are twins born in a house that they have never left because of the dangers on the outside. Lionsgate delays two of its big release: The Crow remake is still arriving this year, but Saw XI no longer is. More here.
Lionsgate has delayed two of its planned releases, pushing both The Crow and Saw XI out of their respective release slots and further down the line.
Saw XI has been delayed for a full year, with the film being pushed from September 2024 all the way back to September 2025. Given that the project only confirmed that Saw X's Kevin Greutert was returning as director back in February, this one is clearly still in development mode. We haven’t heard any casting news yet, meaning that September release date was simply not doable, especially given that its predecessor, Saw X picked up pretty good reviews.
With the long-running horror series once again on the rise, Lionsgate won’t want to rush out a sequel and damage the series’ newfound momentum.

Lionsgate has also moved Saw XI to Sept. 26, 2025, from its previously planned release on Sept. 27, 2024. The franchise is giving a bit of space to the new film after the success of its critically praised Saw X, which hit theaters in September and surpassed $110 million globally.

In addition to bumping back The Crow, Lionsgate and Twisted Pictures have also pushed back the release of Saw XI by a full year. The eleventh installment of the horror franchise was originally slated to hit theaters on September 27th, but the film will now debut on September 26, 2025. Talk To Me breakout star Sophie Wilde is set to appear in Watch Dogs, a long-in-gestation adaptation of Ubisoft’s hacking-based videogame series.
As such Hollywood films as Blackhat and Hackers have taught us, only the coolest and most photogenic people engage in cybercrime. The cool-and-trendy-hacker theme was continued in Watch Dogs, a series of sandbox action adventure videogames first published by Ubisoft in 2014.
Spawning a hit franchise comprising two sequels and counting, Watch Dogs sees high-tech outlaws cause all kinds of digital mischief in cities around the world, with each game taking in stealth, driving, fisticuffs, shooting and tinkering with electronic devices.
A film adaptation based on the series was first floated by Ubisoft Motion Pictures back in 2013, before the original game was even released. The division’s plans for a multitude of movies based on its games took something of a body blow, however, when 2016’s Assassin’s Creed,...

Hack the planet! Oh, wait, that’s a different movie about hackers. Never mind. After scaring the daylights out of horror fans in A24‘s Talk to Me – which recently won the Best Horror category at the 22nd Golden Schmoe Awards – Sophie Wilde is lining up her next project with New Regency’s adaptation of the UbiSoft video game Watch Dogs. With over 50 million players since the franchise began in 2014 with the release of Watch Dogs and Watch Dogs: Bad Blood, the film adaptation finds French genre filmmaker Mathieu Turi in the director’s chair. Turi directs Watch Dogs from a script by Christie LeBlanc, who wrote the Alexandre Aja-directed Netflix film Oxygen.

Earlier today, we took a look back the Wes Craven-directed 2005 thriller Red Eye… so we figured, why not follow that up by taking a look at a remake of a Craven horror film that was released the year after Red Eye reached theatres? The movie we’re taking about is the 2006 version of The Hills Have Eyes (watch it Here), a remake of Craven’s 1977 classic. It’s time for this one to be revisited, and you can hear all about it in the embed above.
While the original film was written and directed by Craven, Alexandre Aja directed the remake from a screenplay he wrote with Grégory Levasseur. Here’s the synopsis: Bob Carter and his wife Ethel, along with five other members of the family, are heading for San Diego with their camper van. An accident strands them in the desert and while two of the men go for help,...

After his 1972 debut "The Last House on the Left," Wes Craven wanted to break away from the horror genre. But try as he might, Craven could not find anyone to finance a non-horror project. Producers wanted more thrills and chills from the filmmaker, and so Craven relented. The result was 1977's "The Hills Have Eyes," a nasty little movie in which a group of cannibals torments a suburban family in the Nevada desert. The film was a box office hit and spawned a sequel, a remake, and a sequel to the remake. Let's take a look at the franchise as we rank "The Hills Have Eyes" movies from worst to best.

It’s all about the color red for the 7th day of Creepmas; blood red, to be precise. Bloody Disgusting’s 12 Days of Creepmas continues the holiday horror revelry, this time with holiday slashers that aim to paint the snow red with arterial spray and carnage. These holiday slashers demonstrate that there’s more to the realm of holiday slashers than killer Santas with a variety of Yuletide killers, from lonely security guards to mutated murderous snowmen. Save for one feel-good slasher to kick things off, today’s Creepmas offerings mainly capture the grimmer side of the holidays.

‘Tis the season to watch holiday-themed horror, so we here at Arrow in the Head have decided to compile a list of the Best Christmas Horror Movies! All of the films below are, at the very least, set around Christmastime, and some of them take the connection to the holidays further than that. Here are the top 12 horror movies that we recommend checking out over the next week:

It’s easy to forget that I Come in Peace (a.k.a. The episode of Wtf Happened to This Horror Movie? covering Maniac (2012) was Written by Emilie Black, Narrated by Travis Hopson, Edited by Jaime Vasquez, Produced by Andrew Hatfield and John Fallon, and Executive Produced by Berge Garabedian.
More and more remakes. So many remakes. Not all are good, some would even say that most remakes are trash. However, some are good, some are great even. This leads us to this movie, the remake of Maniac (watch it Here) released to the general public in 2013. While some hated it and with reason, others loved it, also with reason. The film is one of those that made changes that worked for the story and helped bring it to the new audience, who then turned around and saw the original. Well, some of them did. However, this remake didn’t exactly hit it big at the box office and it still seems to be finding its audience.

Franck Khalfoun, the French filmmaker behind P2 and Maniac (2012), returns this Halloween season with Night of the Hunted, a new survival horror movie on the way from Shudder.
The film just had its world premiere at Beyond Fest 2023 and will stream exclusively on Shudder next Friday, October 20. Watch the official trailer down below.
Set in the American west, Night of the Hunted follows Alice, played by Camilla Rowe, as a road trip turns into a fight for her life when a vengeful sniper targets her and traps her in a remote, isolated gas station. “An indictment of modern polarized politics, the film is a tight but brutal single-location thriller,” Shudder previews in the official press release.
Night of the Hunted is produced by Alexandre Aja, serving as the 3rd collaboration between Aja and director Franck Khalfoun.

Genre regulars Alexandre Aja and Franck Khalfoun have worked together many times over the years. Khalfoun had acting roles in Aja’s movies High Tension and Piranha 3D, worked in the script department on Aja’s The Hills Have Eyes remake, and was an executive producer on his film Oxygen.
