After the success of their previous installment, Philippine directing team Pegue Gallaga and Lore Reyes returned for their second turn at the popular anthology series. Released a year after the second entry, rather than take the gap that occurred between part one and part two, this third film in the series keeps the same tone and sense of fun as what had been in place from the first films.

Warner Bros. is having a wild week at the box office.
Days after reviving the shark movie subgenre at the B.O. with The Meg (four-day is near $50M), Warner Bros. is opening Crazy Rich Asians tomorrow, a watershed moment which reps the first Asian American movie made by a major studio since Disney’s 1993 Joy Luck Club. That movie reached a wide release of 600 theaters at the time and ended its domestic run at $32.9M. Crazy Rich Asians is bound to beat Joy Luck Club‘s cume in a matter of days.
While tracking sees the Jon M. Chu-directed romance at $26M over five days, some believe that $30M isn’t out of the question at 3,303 locations (that count will go up on Friday), with women around 75% apt to drive business for this feature based on the bestselling book by Kevin Kwan. Already Fandango presales show that Crazy Rich Asians...

Warner Bros. rolled out the jade carpet for the Hollywood premiere of “Crazy Rich Asians.”
With the temperature hovering around 95 degrees outside Tcl Chinese Theatres on Tuesday night, everyone seemed to be talking about the weather — while blotting and wiping sweat from their faces.
“Do you like how Warner Bros. managed to create Singapore-style temperatures?” producer Brad Simpson joked.
The cast and crew may have been melting, but they powered through with excitement over the movie, the first studio film featuring Asian-Americans in lead roles in 25 years.
“To be in a film that is representative of what should be, we should be normalizing all of this,” said Henry Golding, who stars in the romantic comedy about a New York University professor (Constance Wu) who accompanies her boyfriend, Nick Young (Golding), to Singapore to meet his uber wealthy family. “We shouldn’t be the only Asian film made in 25 years. That’s ridiculous.

Leonardo DiCaprio (finally) took the Oscar for best actor, and his fans on Twitter can't contain their happiness. The Internet offered up memes on top of memes for DiCaprio - who after years of being nominated, finally snagged the award for his role in The Revenant. Rather than focus on his win (a long overdue one, according to many fans), the actor used his acceptance speech to call attention to global warming. "Our production needed to move to the southern tip of this planet to find snow. Climate change is real. It is happening right now," he said. "It is...

Sam Pinto, Ramon 'Bong' Revilla, Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote The fantasy adventure Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote, starring actor-politician Ramon 'Bong' Revilla and Vic Sotto, remains the top box-office hit at the 2010-2011 Metro Manila Film Festival, during which only Filipino movies — eight of them this year — are screened in The Philippines. To date, Si Agimat at si Enteng Kabisote has taken in P131,213,092 (Us$2.98m). Starring former president Corazon Aquino's daughter Kris Aquino — who also happens to be the current president's (Benigno Aquino III's) sister — the horror thriller Dalaw has brought in P65,550,261 (Us$1.49m). Dolphy's Father Jejemon has been at the bottom of the box-office chart despite the veteran comedian's Best Actor win announced last weekend. Albert Martinez's Rosario, a socially conscious period drama starring Jennylyn Mercado, hasn't been performing all that well, either — possibly because, according to one journalist, Martinez's movie...
