- Sig Arno was born on December 27, 1895 in Hamburg, Germany. He was an actor and director, known for The Palm Beach Story (1942), Die Nacht ohne Pause (1931) and La gloire du régiment (1937). He was married to Kitty Mattern, Barbara Kiranoff and Caroline Dahms. He died on August 17, 1975 in Woodland Hills, Los Angeles, California, USA.

- Arno looked lanky and thin. This was the reason that producers tried to match him together with the stout actor Kurt Gerron (1897-1944) in order to appear as the comedian duo "Beef and Steak" - with success.
- In 1933 the Jew Arno had to go into exile. In the following six years he traveled through Belgium - there he realized the movie "La gloire du régiment" (1937) as a director, Switzerland, Italy, Spain, Partugal and the Netherlands - here he played again in different plays. Finally he went to America in 1939.
- In 1945 he became an US citizen.
- In 1966, Arno won an honorary award at the German Film Awards "for his continued outstanding individual contributions to the German film over the years.".
- Only in 1955 he returned to Germany and acted at different theaters in Vienna and Hamburg.
