A fan-favorite character is returning to Season 10 of “Doctor Who.” The BBC announced that Matt Lucas, known for playing Nardole, will be making an appearance in the opening episode of the upcoming season.
“I’m chuffed to bits that Nardole is returning to the Tardis for some more adventures. I loved acting with Peter and I’m excited to work with Pearl,” Lucas said in a statement.
Nardole is a human cyborg who made his first appearance in the 2015 Christmas special, “The Husbands of River Song.” He was told by Professor Song to find the surgeon needed to extract the Halassi Androvar from the head of King Hydroflax. But instead, Nardole found Doctor Who and took him to the Professor.

Filming for “Doctor Who” begins Monday, June 20 in Cardiff, Wales. Pearl Mackie, who was recently cast as Peter Capaldi’s new companion, will embark on her first week filming the role of Bill. This will be her first major television role following her West End appearance in “The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night Time.”

Unit scientist Osgood, played by Ingrid Oliver, returns to Doctor Who for season nine. Having been killed by Missy (Michelle Gomez) in the show’s season eight finale ‘Death in Heaven’, Steven Moffat decided to bring back the Doctor’s biggest fan.
Steven Moffat, lead writer and Executive Producer, said: “Osgood is back, fresh from her recent murder at the end of last series. We recently confirmed that Osgood was definitely dead and not returning – but in a show about time travel, anything can happen. The brilliant Ingrid Oliver is back in action. This time though, can the Doctor trust his number one fan?”
This time she’s back in action and comes face-to-face with the shape-shifting extra-terrestrial Zygons, as they also return for the new season. They last appeared in ‘The Day of the Doctor’ for the show’s 50th anniversary episode.

We knew she’d be back – Michelle Gomez said she’d be back, we just didn’t know how soon she’d be back. Well, now we know – Missy (Aka The Master) will make her return in the series premiere of Doctor Who later in 2015.
The two-part episode, The Magician’s Apprentice and The Witch’s Familiar, is written by the show’s lead writer Steven Moffat, produced by Peter Bennett and directed by Hettie Macdonald (Blink, the Hugo Award-winning Doctor Who episode).
Michelle Gomez is the latest of a long line of actors to play The Doctor greatest nemesis. Starting with Roger Delgado in the early Pertwee years, The Master has plagued The Doctor almost constantly, through a number of regenerations and forms. [1] We feature director homages all the time here at /Film, but today's Video of the Day offers something a little different. Using bright, playful animation and a healthy serving of wit, "The Ultimate Hitch Cookbook" analyzes the work of director Alfred Hitchcock in culinary terms and lays out "recipes" for some of his most-loved classics. Now you, too, can whip up dishes like "Walk the Dog" ("the perfect meal for stakeouts or the Peeping Tom next door") or "The Perfect Kendall-Light Dinner" ("for homesick travellers"). Watch the short film after the jump. Nicolas Cage won't be prosecuted for his arrest three weeks ago. The actor, who was detained for domestic abuse, disturbing the peace and public intoxication after allegedly pushing wife Alice Kim on April 16 in New Orleans, will not face any further legal action as the charges have now been dropped.
Cage's attorney Harry Rosenberg told People magazine, "The New Orleans District Attorney has confirmed that no charges of any kind will be pursued against him. After their investigation, the DAs refused all charges against Nick and the matter has been closed. We are pleased that the process led to the correct result, despite inaccurate media reports, and that Nick has been cleared and all charges have been dropped."
Cage, 47, was arrested after arguing with wife Alice in the early hours of April 16 after he became confused as to which house he was renting in the French Quarter of the city.

Nicolas Cage has returned to work following his arrest in the early hours of Saturday morning (16.04.11).
The Oscar-winning actor - who was detained for domestic abuse, disturbing the peace and public intoxication after allegedly pushing wife Alice Kim - was said to be "extremely professional" when he arrived on the set of "Medallion" in New Oreans today (18.04.11), and is "ready" to get back to his job.
A set insider told People.com, "He is always extremely professional. He is never late, no tantrums."
"He is a dedicated actor when he is at work and I don't think people would hire him so much if he wasn't. He's in fine shape and ready to work."
The source added Nicolas was "very excited" about working on some big stunts for the movie - which tells the story of a former thief who is searching for his missing daughter - in the coming week.

Nicolas Cage was "screaming in the street" before his arrest on Saturday, an onlooker has claimed. Local barman and street performer Peter Bennett spoke to People about the argument between Cage and his wife Alice Kim, which resulted in the actor being charged with domestic abuse and disturbing the peace. "Apparently he had mistaken the house of my neighbours for the other house up the block that he is actually renting," said Bennett, who lives in the French Quarter of New Orleans. "His wife was trying to persuade him from disturbing the elderly couple who (more)...

Exclusive: Graham King's Gk Films has won a spirited auction for feature film rights to the Broadway musical Jersey Boys: The Story of Frankie Valli & The Four Seasons. Book writers Marshall Brickman and Rick Elice will write the script. King and Gk Films partner Tim Headington will produce. The deal was described as "groundbreaking;" I'm told it was a substantial seven-figures. The play tells the story of how Valli, Bob Gaudio, Tommy DeVito and Nick Massi went from blue-collar wrong side of the track origins to become an American pop sensation, selling 175 million records worldwide before they were 30 years old. The play has done over $1 billion in worldwide ticket sales since its 2005 Broadway opening, when it was directed by Des McAnuff and produced by Dodger Theatricals. It won four Tony Awards, including Best Musical and the cast album won the Grammy. When it transplanted to London, Jersey Boys won...

Last night the penultimate episode of Doctor Who - The Pandorica Opens – was screened by BAFTA. Introduced by Ben Stephenson, Controller, BBC Drama Commissioning, who said that on viewing this episode he felt that it was an “unbelievable hour of television” and he wanted to personally “celebrate and congratulate the people who put it together”. Firstly he praised Steven Moffat who he described as
The God of Doctor Who… We are lucky and honoured to work with a world class writer (who is) just exceptional. I have no doubt that if he wasn’t working on Doctor Who and Sherlock he’d been in La working with Steven Spielberg.
He went on to praise Piers Wenger and Beth Willis, saying between them they brought a level of attention to detail and sanity that kept the show on the rails. Of Matt Smith he said:
There was nothing bold about the casting of Matt,...

Torchwood producer Peter Bennett told Digital Spy about 2009’s Torchwood: Children of Earth.
"Basically from a concept, we wanted to go down the children dilemma route,” he said of the title. “Because this storyline is a subject that's going to affect all the children of Earth, it was a natural title to come up with.”
As for the actual plot, Bennett explained, "It's different to every other year. It's not a story about spaceships, but it's about a government that did a deal with aliens back in the '60s, and they're now dealing with the consequences of that deal when the sins of their past come back to haunt them."
The biggest change is that the third season is a mere five episodes, to be broadcast across consecutive days. "Having done 26 standalone stories, we kind of wanted to take this series to another level and by making it one story over five nights,...
