TollywoodThe shooting for the film is scheduled to begin in August this year.Digital NativeReports are doing the rounds that SS Rajamouli’s upcoming multi-starrer may be a remake of the smash hit Bollywood flick Karan Arjun. Released in 1995, Karan Arjun had Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan in the lead roles. The film was directed and produced by Rakesh Roshan and was written by Sachin Bhowmick, Ravi Kapoor and Anwar Khan. Made on a budget of Rs 5 crore 23 years ago, the film collected about Rs 53.58 crore at the box office worldwide. According to sources, Rajamouli and his dad Kv Vijayendra Prasad are working on the storyline and it may be tweaked a bit while keeping the core plot intact. It may be mentioned here that Vijayendra Prasad had penned the story for the hit Bollywood film Bajrangi Bhaijaan, which had Salman Khan in the lead role. The film won several awards and Vijayendra Prasad was awarded the Filmfare Award for Best Story. Director Rajamouli, after the reverberating success of the Baahubali franchise on which he spent five years, had announced that he would be working on a multi-starrer featuring Ram Charan Teja and Jr Ntr in the lead roles. The test photoshoot for this project, tentatively titled Rrr, happened in the Us a couple of months ago with both the lead stars participating in it. The shooting for the film is scheduled to begin in August this year and the director is busy with the prep work. It has been reported that the director wants to take adequate time to shoot. Though the shooting of Baahubali 1 and 2 went on for five years, the director plans to complete shooting for his next film in one and half years. In the meantime, Ram Charan Teja and Jr Ntr are busy with their respective projects, which will be completed before Rajamouli starts the shooting for Rrr. While reports may indicate that Rrr is a remake of Karan Arjun, we need to wait for an official confirmation from the makers. Sachin Bhowmick, one of the most prolific writers of the Hindi film industry breathed his last Tuesday afternoon. The screenwriter who penned over 90 films spanning over 5 decades died of a cardiac arrest after prolonged illness.
Bhowmick started his writing career with Mohan Segal’s Nargis starrer Lajwanti in 1958. His most recent film was Subhash Ghai’s Yuvvraaj in 2008. He has to his credit films like Anuradha (1961), Love in Tokyo (1966), An Evening in Paris (1967), Gol Maal (1979), Karz (1980). More recently, he had written films like Karan Arjun (1995), Dushman (1998), Taal (1999), Koi Mil Gaya (2003) and Krrish (2006). Anuradha, penned by Bhowmick based on his short story and directed by Hrishikesh Mukherjee won the National Film Award for Best Film.
The writer, 81, died at his Pali Hill residence and was cremated at the Shivaji Park crematorium.

Yesteryear's ace writer Sachin Bhowmik passed away earlier today. It is learnt that the writer/ director had been ailing for sometime and succumbed to the same. Sachin started his writing career with the film Lajwanti in 1958 and followed it up with films such as Brahmachari, Aradhana, Pehchan and Aan Milo Sajna. More recently, he has written films like Koi... Mil Gaya, Kisna and Krrish. He also directed a film called Raja Rani in 1973 starring Rajesh Khanna and Sharmila Tagore. Says Subhash Ghai, "It's my great personal loss......he was most interested in films but never a filmy as a person. A legend in screenplay writing since 1960… He led me from Karz to Yuvvraaj in over 10 films. Some of them were Karz, Karma, Khalnayak, Taal and Yuvvraaj....A true gentleman all the way." Bollywood Hungama sends out heartfelt condolences to Sachin's family and friends.
