Actor and comedian Ken Jeong, who is currently a judge on Fox’s “The Masked Singer,” is developing a talk show with an eye toward a 2024 launch, according to media reports on Friday.
He taped a test show in New York on Friday, Deadline reported. That’s not a SAG strike violation as talk show hosts are under a different contract and no longer a WGA red flag — as it was for Drew Barrymore and Bill Maher — as writers have gone back to work after successfully negotiating a new contract with the AMPTP.
Jim Biederman of “The Kids in the Hall” will serve as showrunner, writer and director. He’ll also executive produce alongside Jeong for Debmar-Mercury, the company behind “The Wendy Williams Show” and “The Nick Cannon Show.”
Prior to joining “The Masked Singer,” Jeong starred in the ABC sitcom “Dr. Ken.” He also played Ben Chang on NBC...

“Kensday” may soon be everyday. “Community” star and “The Masked Singer” panelist Ken Jeong is eyeing a daytime talk strip for 2024, to be developed and produced by Lionsgate’s Debmar-Mercury shingle. Jeong will executive produce with Jim Biederman (“The Kids in the Hall,” “The Howard Stern Radio Show.”
“Ken is one of a handful of people in the world who has what it takes to succeed as a talk show host and we are excited to be in business with him,” Debmar-Mercury co-presidents Mort Marcus and Ira Bernstein said in a joint statement. “”Audiences connect with Ken on many levels – not only because is he so talented, entertaining and unapologetically hilarious but their sense that he is sincere, compassionate, fearless, friendly, just genuinely nice – all essential ingredients that make for long-term success as a talk show host. He is also a talent capable of conquering any time period with his mix of comedy,...

While sharp writing and clever story structure are often the hallmarks of good comedy, one can’t overlook the impact of a fantastic comic performance. Is Caddyshack remembered for its plot? No, it’s become beloved because of the standout comic acting of Bill Murray, Chevy Chase, Rodney Dangerfield and Ted Knight. Same goes for The Honeymooners or Married With Children, both standard family scenarios elevated by standout performances from Jackie Gleason and Ed O’Neill, respectively. Not to elevate it to the same status as these classics, but this is what I thought of when watching Atom's new White Gorilla series. White Gorilla is an original web series executive produced by comedy vet Jim Biederman (The Whitest Kids U Know, Michael & Michael Have Issues) and Chris Gillen . It all begins when normal average everyman Steve (Trevor Dellecave) receives a mysterious wooden crate from Africa that contains a talking White...

Danny Leiner, the man who showed us that both road trip movies and Neil Patrick Harris can be funny again with Harold & Kumar Go to White Castle, signed a deal during Afm to bring us another bizarre comedy that will make horror fans stand up and moan: The Corporate Zombie Killers.
”Once in a lifetime, a script comes along which is beautiful, devastating and life-changing," Leiner told Screen Daily. "Tczk is none of those, but it is an amazingly hilarious, satirical and action-packed ride in the undying and often overlooked world of corporate zombies."
The story follows a gang of temps attempting to escape from an office park after the dead decide to come back to life and start feasting on the living. Leiner will be working on a script from Jim Biederman ("The Kids in the Hall") and John Plummer. We'll bring you more details as they're solidified!

It's no secret that we here at Quiet Earth love zombie flicks, in fact I watched the Scottish flick The Dead Outside just last night, so instead of breaking this down into single pieces of news we're going to cover it all at once.

"The story tells of office temps battling a zombie outbreak in a corporate office park." There's no word on a start date, but the writers will be working alongside Leiner to develop the film.
Second is Silent Night, Zombie Night which is being done by Velvet Hammer films and begins shooting this December and supposedly it's getting fast tracked for an early 2009 theatrical release. "Director Sean Cain’s X-mas themed...

In the first Web series being produced by Kraft, its Tassimo hot beverage system brand has partnered with Ogilvy's branded entertainment group to create a series of webisodes titled "Who Hired Bob?"
The comedy series follows the misadventures of Bob, a quirky character in an office setting who obsesses over the little things that have nothing to do with work. Bob loves his Tassimo machine to the point of being fanatic about it.
The initial two webisodes, which are available for viewing at WhoHiredBob.com, have three acts each, with viewers able to choose between one of two options at the end of Acts I and Acts II as to what happens next to Bob. Each act runs about two minutes for a total of six minutes per webisode. Viewers can also submit stories of "Bob-like" characters in their own workplaces. The winning viewer submission will be filmed as the next "Bobisode".
The webisodes were produced by Ogilvy in partnership with writer-producer Jim Biederman, whose credits include "The Kids in the Hall" and "The Whitest Kids U Know". He comes from the Upright Citizens Brigade, the New York-based comedy improv group.

With the broadcast networks focused on their upfront presentations in New York this week, several cable networks made a slew of programming announcements Monday.
MTV Networks' Logo, which targets gay and lesbian audiences, said it has greenlighted a second season of "The Big Gay Sketch Show" less than a month after the show's premiere. Logo also is developing a music reality show with former 'N Sync member Lance Bass, though the network didn't provide further details, along with a scripted action-comedy series tentatively titled "Gayonic Man", about a gay bionic man, from former "Queer as Folk" regular Robert Gant and "The Brady Bunch Movie" writer Rick Copp.
"Sketch"'s second season, which goes into production in the fall for an early 2008 premiere, will feature online audience participation and other interactive features that give users the ability to influence and participate in some of the sketches, which falls in line with MTVN's emphasis on viewer interactivity.
"Sketch" is executive produced by Joe Del Hierro, Dan MacDonald and Rosie O'Donnell. Jim Biederman also executive produces.
In other cable news, Fox Reality and sister broadcast network MyNetworkTV are joining to bring back the reality series "Paradise Hotel", which had a 32-episode run on Fox starting in June 2003.
