I have had a strong appreciation for the 1990 sci-fi action thriller I Come in Peace, which is also known by the title Dark Angel in some territories, ever since it first came out when I was a kid, and several of my cohorts here on JoBlo are fans of the film as well – with John “The Arrow” Fallon recommending it and Chris Bumbray calling it “The Best Christmas Action Movie You Never Saw.” So we’re excited to hear that Shout Factory will be giving the film a 4K release on July 9th – and if you’re also a fan of this movie and want to add the 4K release to your collection, it’s available for pre-order at This Link!

Not many horror films truly scare me these days. But alien horror? Even the ones substandard to most send me into a fear frenzy. That’s why I’m taking a deep dive into the sub-genre.
Welcome to Aliens Scare Me. A look into alien horror films on a case by case basis.
This month we’re probing deep into action/sci-fi territory with 1990’s Dark Angel; or depending on where you find it, I Come In Peace, starring the great Dolph Lundgren.
What It’s About
Rogue cop Jack Caine (Lundgren) has his partner killed by a gang of old white men called “The White Boys” (dead serious) who are subsequently murdered by a mysterious force using what appears to be a CD Rom disc as a weapon (still serious). While investigating, Jack and his new partner by force, Special Agent Arwood (Brian Benben), come across an gigantic alien...

Malika Andrews is capping off a quick journey that has taken her from the sidelines of NBA games to a central seat at many of its big events.
The sportscaster is taking over the host duties of ESPN’s NBA Draft, succeeding Rece Davis, who led the broadcast for more than a decade. In doing so, Andrews cements her status as one of ESPN’s mainstay journalists, having been awarded hosting duties on “NBA Today” in 2021.
The June 23 Draft broadcast, emanating from Brooklyn’s Barclays Center, will top off Andrews’ busy schedule in weeks ahead. She will also host the NBA Draft Lottery telecast this evening at 8 p.m. on ESPN, prior to Game 1 of the NBA Eastern Conference Finals. She also hosts “NBA Today” from the NBA Draft Combine at 3 p.m. on ESPN during the week of May 16. NBA Today will air on site at the NBA Draft on June 23 as well.

“Everyone carries pain,” Rosenblatt narrates in the trailer for the short that HBO released. “Yet through that pain, I can see yours.”
In addition to directing, Rosenblatt wrote, produced and edited “When We Were Bullies.” The short is one of five nominees in the best documentary short category at the 94th Academy Awards.

ESPN Insider is going away after 20 years: The Disney-owned sports media giant is switching Insider subscribers over to ESPN+, its recently launched premium streaming service.
ESPN has begun notifying Insider subscribers about the change, which takes effect next Tuesday (Aug. 28). With the latest update to the ESPN App (version 6.2), premium digital subscription content will all simply be ESPN+, which will include what has heretofore been ESPN Insider content.
The ESPN+ branding within the app and espn.com will replace ESPN Insider and all content and features will be available in the same subscription. The goal, according to ESPN, is to simplify its digital direct-to-consumer subscription offerings to fans with a single service — while offering even more value in their subscription.
ESPN declined to disclose how many subs it has currently for Insider, which launched in 1998, or ESPN+, which debuted this spring.

It’s the NBA Draft so nice ESPN is covering it thrice.
The 2018 edition of the annual selection process for the basketball league’s best incoming rookies will see three different teams of broadcasters from the Disney-owned sports empire covering the event, which will be telecast live Thursday evening from the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
“The NBA Draft Presented by State Farm” will get the usual showcase on ESPN’s main stage, its premium channel. But for the first time ever, sister network ESPN2 will have an entirely separate squad covering the proceedings from a different angle.
To top that off, a third version will get into the game on Twitter, where “On the Clock” coverage will stream during the first round of picks.

Espn analyst Jay Bilas ripped Lavar Ball as a “misogynistic buffoon” and called him a “joke” that isn’t funny anymore in a scathing column titled, “Lavar Ball crossed the line and isn’t worthy of our attention.” Ball is the father of Los Angeles Lakers star rookie Lonzo Ball, who recently won Most Valuable Player of the NBA Summer League. Lavar has emerged as a household name among sports fans with his over-the-top comments, outlandish predictions and unique business tactics. His latest news-making stunt was threatening a female referee while coaching a game for his youngest son. “Lavar Ball has shown himself.

The Final Four is set for this weekend in what is sure to be two exciting matchups. The action will begin Saturday, April 5th in North Texas, where the number one-seeded Florida Gators take on the seventh-seeded UConn Huskies – the second seventh-seeded team to ever make the Final Four.
Final Four Preview
While the seeds do not hold much weight at this point in the tournament, many are calling Florida the favorite in this matchup despite UConn's tournament run behind the stellar play of senior guard, Shabazz Napier. "The way Napier has been playing, it's hard to pick against him," said college basketball analyst Jay Bilas, "but I think Florida has got the goods in this one," Bilas said.
Napier, who has averaged just over 23 points, 6 rebounds and 4.5 assists in the tournament, helped lead his team over favorite Michigan State in their Elite Eight matchup.

Five years after his now legendary performance as Ivan Drago in Rocky IV, Dolph Lundgren was enjoying considerable success having starred in a trio of films that include Red Scorpion, (the original) The Punisher and as popular toy figure He-Man in Masters of the Universe. The films ranged from okay to just plain awful, but Lundgren had an onscreen presence that was more than just his six foot five frame. The guy had personality and for a native of Stockholm, Sweden, he could easily adopt an American accent. The nineties saw Lundgren in a string of action films that included Showdown in Little Tokyo with the late Brandon Lee, Universal Soldier with Jean-Claude Van Damme and the Keanu Reeves vehicle Johnny Mnemonic which to this day remains Ludgren's last film that had an American theatrical release. By the close of the decade Lundgren's films were only released straight to video sin the U.
