Maurizio Bizzarri
- Costume Designer
- Costume and Wardrobe Department
- Producer
Born in Italy, nephew of the highly respected, Oscar-nominated Italian Director Libero Bizzarri.
After seeing the movie "Zabriskie Point" in 1970, Maurizio knew his life was to be lived in California and his heart was to be dedicated to making movies.
His passion for entertainment led him straight to UCLA whereby he completed his BA degree in Communications in 1981.
Quickly found work at ABC television working on such production as "General Hospital" and "Who's the Boss" for over 10 years.
In that time he read and analyzed over 1,000 scripts for television in order to adapt them to his vision of the characters, their image, and the brands that he found most suitable to carry forward his vision.
Also gained credit as writer after having written two episodes for "Who's the Boss" and was subsequently given membership to the Writer's Guild of America. This was to be the first "itch" of working "above the line" in his professional career.
His career then took a turn into film production.
He was offered his first job by John Vallone, an Oscar-nominated Production Designer on the movie "Cliffhanger" and was brought on as Assistant Production Designer for the project. This involved the oversight and coordination of critical cross-departmental functions such as budgeting, logistics, and planning to meet the time-sensitive needs of the project; on an international scale.
His desire to channel his strengths and contributions to the arts while also working "above the line" culminated soon after the "Cliffhanger" movie.
Producer and Financier at the Cineville International film production company. Cineville garnered its "street cred" financing productions with actors the likes of Kevin Spacey, Renée Zelwegger, Salma Hayek, and Viggo Mortenson.
Worked as a producer in film finance and development with many writers and producers such as Carl Colpaert, William Stadiem, Zalman King (9 ½ Weeks), and Ron Shusett (Alien, Minority Report) and also became a member of the Producer's Guild of America in the process.
