It was the song that ignited a movement. Ten years ago, Lady Gaga made a mission statement into a mainstream smash hit with the release of her instantly iconic "Born This Way," the lead single from her second album of the same name. The track, which finds the pop star laying bare her support for all people living exactly as they were born to live, became an anthem for the LGBTQ community as it reached number one in over 25 countries across the world. The song also marked the first collaboration with now-longtime writing and production partner Paul Blair (aka DJ White Shadow) to be released in the wild, kickstarting a fruitful partnership that would see the pair work together on both Born...

Scottish native David Mackenzie reteams with his Hell or High Water leading star Chris Pine for the Robert the Bruce Netflix exclusive epic Outlaw King. A character and mythology prevalent in Mel Gibson’s critically acclaimed and Oscar-winning epic of William Wallace in Braveheart. While Outlaw King doesn’t hit the great heights of Braveheart, the influence is undoubtedly felt and delivers on an atmospheric and action-oriented epic aesthetic with heart and conviction.

Bradley Cooper and Lady Gaga’s “A Star Is Born” is a box office sensation and one of the most beloved movies of awards season, but there has been a debate growing since the film’s October release over whether or not Gaga’s character, Ally, sells out as she makes the jump from singer-songwriter to full-blown pop star. The transition is marked by Ally’s new look and a divisive new sound, part of which was shaped by Gaga’s longtime collaborator Paul Blair.
Blair, who also goes by the name DJ White Shadow, has a producing and songwriting credit on Ally’s four pop songs on the “A Star Is Born” soundtrack: “Heal Me,” “Why Did You Do That?,” “Hair Body Face,” and “Before I Cry.” Many “A Star Is Born” critics have pointed to “Why Did You Do That?” and its immortal line, “Why’d you come...

Outlaw King
Chris Pine stars in David Mackenzie’s Outlaw King. Check out the new trailer below.
Robert the Bruce’s (Chris Pine) life is transformed from defeated noble to king to outlaw as he struggles to reclaim medieval Scotland from occupation. Ambushed and reduced to a handful of supporters, Robert
resolves himself to strike back against King Edward of England’s mighty army. Robert is among the Scottish nobles having to submit to the occupying English King, Edward (Stephen Dillane). In a further move to ensure stability a marriage between Robert and Elizabeth de Burgh, (Florence Pugh) the daughter of Edward’s ally, is arranged.
An uncomfortable peace is it seems the only way forward which Robert and his family reluctantly accept as he and the feisty Elizabeth get to know each other. But crippling taxes, relentless force, men and boys
being coerced under obligations of the feudal system...

The opening scene of the Clive Barker film Book Of Blood (out this week on DVD and Blu-ray from Lightning) packs a punch as a young woman is assaulted by unseen forces, climaxing with a rather gruesome effect in which her face is torn away. We are then introduced to Simon McNeal (Jonas Armstrong), a young college student and medium whose body has been ravaged and become a literal book of blood.
The story is thus set in motion as Simon recalls the events that led him to his current predicament. As the flashback begins, the focus shifts to paranormal investigator and college professor Mary Florescu (Sophie Ward), who’s haunted by an incident that occurred during her childhood. Mary’s path crosses with that of Simon, who suffers from his own childhood demons. She enlists his aide and, with the help of paranormal technician Reg Fuller (Paul Blair), they...

John Harrison's adaptation of Clive Barker's Book of Blood got itself a drippy new red band trailer today that's sporting quite a bit of squishy stuff. We like.
In Book of Blood paranormal researcher Mary Florescu's investigations lead her to Simon McNeal, a college student who appears to be channeling messages from the dead. As their erotic relationship develops, the line between the worlds of the living and the dead become blurred and finally collapse in a stunning and astonishing climax.
The film, which stars Jonas Armstrong, Sophie Ward, Doug Bradley, Simon Bamford, and Paul Blair, hits DVD and Blu-Ray on September 22.

British composer Guy Farley, who recently had his score for the Richard Gere thriller The Flock released by MovieScore Media, is currently working on the original orchestral score for Clive Barker's Book of Blood, produced by the author and directed by John Harrison, a filmmaker who is also known as a film composer in his own right (Creepshow, Tales from the Darkside). Farley, who is best known for his melodic scores (Modigliani, Madre Teresa, The Christmas Miracle of Jonathan Toomey) has recently focused on darker subjects (The Flock is one example, The Broken and Knife Edge two others) and is writing for an orchestra excluding violins, featuring among other instruments ethnic flutes and percussion, a low brass quartet (tuba, cimbasso, contrabass trombone, bass trombone) and the unusual instrument Monochord. Recording should take place in London later this month. The film is produced by UK's Matador Pictures and stars Jonas Armstrong,...
