A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, the next Games of Thrones spinoff, is coming together, and George R.R. Martin took to his blog to tease that it will have a “much different tone” from the previous shows.
“The Hedge Knight will be a lot shorter than Game of Thrones or House of the Dragon, with a much different tone… but it’s still Westeros, so no one is truly safe,” Martin wrote. “I hope to visit the shoot come July, when I swing by Belfast on my way to the worldcon in Glasgow. The show will make its debut next year… and if it does well, The Sworn Sword and The Mystery Knight will follow. By which time I hope to have finished some more Dunk & Egg stories.“

Some breaking news from Westeros: The Game of Thrones prequel series A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms has added a major talent from Black Mirror to serve as its debut season’s lead director, The Hollywood Reporter has learned.
Owen Harris has boarded the HBO drama as an executive producer and will also direct the first three episodes, establishing the directorial vision for the series. Harris is best known for helming two of Black Mirror‘s finest episodes — “Be Right Back” and the widely acclaimed “San Junipero.”
In addition, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms‘ episode count has now been revealed: The first season will be six episodes, making for a tighter opener than the 10-episode first seasons of Game of Thrones and House of the Dragon. The run time seems appropriate given Knight is an adaptation of George R.R. Martin’s 160-page novella The Hedge Knight rather than one of his 900-page epic novels.

Prime Video has released the first photos from My Lady Jane, the quick-witted romantic new series set in an alt-fantasy Tudor world. The series will premiere exclusively on Prime Video on Thursday, June 27, in more than 240 countries and territories around the world.

Prime Video has released the first trailer for "Citadel," its long-gestating spy action thriller series, executive produced by Joe and Anthony Russo and starring Richard Madden and Priyanka Chopra Jonas. All four creatives were on hand with showrunner David Weil for a virtual press conference, which doubled as a trailer launch event, live from Los Angeles today.
It's been a long road for "Citadel" to the small screen, and along the way, the series has racked up one of the biggest budgets of any TV show ever made. This is nothing new for Prime Video, which also spent almost half a billion dollars on season 1 of "The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power." However, "Citadel" is attempting to create a new global franchise, with this first seven-episode series, led by Madden and Chopra, kicking off a slate of international spin-offs set in places like India, Italy, and Mexico.

Apologies to anyone who had to pay rent today and is particularly sensitive to blatant displays of egregious wealth, but The Russo Bros. series "Citadel" for Prime Video apparently cost the megacorporation over 200 million thanks to ridiculously expensive reshoots. Amazon's Prime Video intended "Citadel" to become the new flagship series on the platform, but the production has been inundated with problems, including half of the creative team exiting over creative differences. The news broke today at The Hollywood Reporter, which estimates that the "Avengers" directing duo are well on their way to creating one of the most expensive shows ever made.
This is a textbook example of "risk vs. reward," as "Citadel" is supposed to be the home base for a series of localized spin-offs of the global spy thriller. On paper, this sounds like a real winner of a plan, but the execution has proven to be ridiculously expensive.

It was set to be a flagship Amazon Prime Video series, with top Hollywood talent guiding what was envisioned as a major franchise for the e-commerce giant. However, cost overruns and creative differences are plaguing a series that has quietly become one of the most expensive shows ever produced.
Meet Citadel, a global event series from Avengers and Gray Man directors Joe and Anthony Russo and movie and television scribes Josh Appelbaum and Andre Nemec.
Multiple sources tell The Hollywood Reporter that differences in vision led to the exit of half the creative team and has thrown the show — a spy thriller that is meant to launch local spinoffs — into a round of expensive reshoots.
Now, a seven-episode series that was already costing at least 160 million net, is adding 75 million, sources say, and is on track to becoming the second most expensive show ever made.

Robert Downey Jr. electrifies one of literature’s most enduring characters in a vivid reimagining of the classic tale of the man who could talk to animals: Dolittle.
In theaters January 17, 2020, watch the first trailer from Universal Pictures.
This looks fabulous and Rdj was born to play the character.
There have been other cinematic versions. The classic 1967 movie starred Rex Harrison as John Dolittle and was a Best Picture nominee.
The musical film directed by Richard Fleischer also featured Samantha Eggar, Anthony Newley and Richard Attenborough. It was adapted by Leslie Bricusse from the novel series by Hugh Lofting. It primarily fused three of the books The Story of Doctor Dolittle, The Voyages of Doctor Dolittle, and Doctor Dolittle’s Circus.
Check out this clip.
The movie from 1998 starred Eddie Murphy. Check it out if you get a chance.

Update: Universal Pictures has renamed The Voyage Of Doctor Dolittle to simply Dolittle. The film will still be released wide on its previously announced date of January 17, 2020. The studio also issued the production’s first trailer.
The move marks yet another shuffling for the film, which originally was slated for an April 12, 2019 release date, then moved to January 17, 2020, which is the four-day Mlk weekend.
The move is seen as an effort to capitalize on early winter rolling vacations overseas; not to mention, Q1 has served as a great play period for family fare, including Sony’s Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle holdover business, which generated close to 60% of its $404.5 million domestic box office after Christmas, not to mention other titles like Disney’s Moana and Fox’s Night at the Museum 1 and 3, which legged out overseas in the January play period.

Robert Downey Jr. is setting sail with some furry friends in the first trailer for “Dolittle,” Universal Pictures’ reimagining of the classic story about a man who could speak to animals.
“We have no choice but to embark on this perilous journey,” he says.
Set to a rendition of Louis Armstrong’s “What a Wonderful World,” Downey Jr. takes center stage as he embarks on an adventure to save the young Queen of England. Along the way, he encounters a host of perilous dangers, including a ferocious tiger who cals him “lunch,” backed up by his animal friends — a gorilla, an ostrich and an octopus to name a few.
The film has undergone several shuffles in recent months, with Universal Pictures renaming the flick Dolittle” in place of its original title “The Voyage of Doctor Dolittle.” The film was also moved from its original April 12, 2019 release date to the longer Martin Luther King holiday weekend.

Robert Downey Jr. would rather talk to animals than people as the new Dr. Dolittle. But, as seen this official “Dolittle” trailer released Sunday, he is soon forced to leave his hideaway and set sail across the sea to a mythical island.
“We have no choice but to embark on this perilous journey,” Downey whispers to his feathered and furry friends.
And that involves getting into all sorts of dangerous situations, like being chained in a medieval dungeon with a tiger who greets him with, “hello, lunch” and then jumps him. But not to worry — a gorilla voiced by Rami Malek comes to his rescue.

“Game of Thrones” alum Emilia Clarke and “Crazy Rich Asians” hunk Henry Golding meet-cute in London with the help of some unfortunately aimed bird poop in the trailer for the new big-screen rom-com “Last Christmas.”
Emma Thompson co-wrote the script (with Bryony Kimmings) and co-stars as the mother of Clarke’s character, an aspiring singer stuck working as an elf in a year-round Christmas shop in London — with a boss (Michelle Yeoh) who dubs her “Lazy the Elf.”
Then she meets the too-good-to-be true Tom (Golding), who manages to break through her barriers and help her cope with past traumas as any self-respecting rom-com hero should.

From Disney comes “Maleficent”—the untold story of Disney’s most iconic villain from the 1959 classic “Sleeping Beauty.” A beautiful, pure-hearted young woman, Maleficent has an idyllic life growing up in a peaceable forest kingdom, until one day when an invading army threatens the harmony of the land. Maleficent rises to be the land’s fiercest protector, but she ultimately suffers a ruthless betrayal—an act that begins to turn her pure heart to stone. Bent on revenge, Maleficent faces an epic battle with the invading king’s successor and, as a result, places a curse upon his newborn infant Aurora. As the child grows, Maleficent realizes that Aurora holds the key to peace in the kingdom—and perhaps to Maleficent’s true happiness as well. Maleficent is produced by Joe Roth and directed by Robert Stromberg, with Angelina Jolie, Don Hahn, Matt Smith, Palak Patel and Sarah Bradshaw serving as executive producers.

This year, 2014, marks the 55th Anniversary of the character who put a spell on young “Sleeping Beauty” in the animated feature released by Disney in 1959.
Since her introduction, Maleficent has been Disney’s all-‐time most popular villain. Now she returns in this live – action version of the classic story – and there’s a lot about her we never knew. “I loved Maleficent when I was a little girl,” says Angelina Jolie. “She was my favorite Disney character. I was afraid of her and I loved her.”
“It was important to me as a director to retain enough of the elements of ‘Sleeping Beauty’ so that people who are fans of the original won’t be disappointed when they see this,” explains director Robert Stromberg. “I felt it was important that people not only see this classic character realized in a new light but also see the genesis of some...
