Disney Advertising and Edo, one of a growing handful of upstart companies hoping to offer new method of counting video viewers, have struck a pact that will have Edo examine audience engagement acorss Disney’s streaming assets, starting with Hulu.
Disney has been exploring new avenues along with many of its rivals — all of whom are eager to find ways to measure audiences who are increasingly moving away from day-and-date linear consumption of their favorite TV drama, comedies and sporting events. Last year, Disney teamed up with large media-buying operation Publicis Media to test new measures from Samba TV and with Omnicom Media Group to examine work by Comscore.
Disney has in recent months put a major emphasis on streaming media, moving the flagship ABC program “Dancing With The Stars” to broadband platforms, adding tens of hours of sports to ESPN+ and launching an ad-supported version of Disney+.

Disney Advertising and measurement firm Edo, whose founder and chairman is the actor and director Edward Norton, have expanded their relationship into the streaming realm.
The companies have reached a new agreement to apply engagement data from Edo to Disney’s streaming platforms, starting with Hulu. Last month, Disney+ also added a subscription tier with ads.
The partnership news comes on the day Disney’s ad division convenes its annual “tech and data showcase,” which will be held virtually. Norton is appearing in a 5-minute video segment during the event to explain his involvement and how Edo is working with Disney.
The companies see the deal yielding more insight for advertisers about how Disney’s premium content translates into consumer engagement and performance.

NFL ratings are booming in just about every timeslot this season, and Monday Night Football is no exception. It kicked off on September 12 and drew 19.8 million total viewers, its biggest audience since 2009.
Now, the Disney franchise is mixing things up with an eye toward opening up even more advertising opportunities. Two games will air at overlapping times tonight on ABC and ESPN, a twist on the back-to-back doubleheaders that aired for more than a decade in Week 1 on ESPN.
The first game, on ESPN and ESPN2, will feature the Tennessee Titans and Buffalo Bills. An hour and 15 minutes later, at 8:30 p.m. Et, the Minnesota Vikings and Philadelphia Eagles will start on ABC and ESPN+. Extensive cut-ins and periodic side-by-side displays will enable viewers to keep track during the bonanza, which promises to be more than an hour longer in the aggregate than a typical 3-hour NFL timeslot. (The...

Mel B's sister wants her estranged husband Stephen Belafonte to "rot in hell".
Danielle Brown - who, along with her mother Andrea, was estranged from the former Spice Girls singer for several years because of their contentious relationship with the producer - has branded Stephen a "psychopath" in a social media rant, days after her older sibling was granted a restraining order amid allegations her husband had been abusive throughout their 10-year marriage.
The former 'Emmerdale' actress - whose beloved father Martin passed away last month - wrote on Instagram: "Dear all media I won't be selling a story on my sister never have and never will!! Here is my comment below so you can now leave me and my mum alone and let us be united and grieve the loss of my dad.

Forgive us if we don’t get out violins out, but we find it hard to care about Kerry Katona’s latest woes.
The troubled reality TV star has raised some much needed cash, by selling a story about her recent hardships to The News Of The World and of course blaming everyone but herself for her downfall.
The mum of four was recently dropped by her management agency Can Associates and revealed to the newspaper that because they were paying for the mansion she and her children were residing in, she was given only hours to pack up and leave.
Kerry moaned:
“I’ve no idea where I’m going to go or what I’m going to do.
“I’ve been told I must be out of the house by 5pm even though I don’t have another place to go to. Perhaps I’ll just refuse to...

Kerry Katona was reportedly dropped by her management company because of recent wild parties in Marbella, according to News of the World. Katona was dropped from Can Associates last week after allegedly missing a regular doping test requested by her agent Claire Powell. A friend of the reality TV star said: "It's as if there's a monster inside her which leads her towards self-destruction. And that monster seems to be back." The newspaper has printed photos of Katona dancing on tables with Mel B's sister Danielle Brown in Marbella earlier this month. The management split may lose Katona her Ok! magazine column and £1 million in other deals. Since Katona breached her contract, Can are also reportedly demanding that the reality TV star gives back the rent payments and school fees they paid on her behalf. The friend added: "It is so tragic. (more)...

Kimberley Walsh has admitted that like the rest of us, she doubts that Peter Andre and Elen Rivas’s relationship was the real deal.
The Girls Aloud star said that the whole romance seemed really ‘contrived’ and speculated that the whole thing could have been set up by their joint management.
She told Ok: “Whenever I’ve met Peter Andre I’ve thought he’s really sweet but his relationship with Elen Rivas seemed contrived. If it was a showmance it’s really sad to go to those lengths.”
Just after their split, Peter and Elen were pictured meeting for a very quick coffee at Danielle Brown’s (Mel B’s sister) coffee shop. Unsurprisingly Danielle is managed by Claire Powell, just like Andre and Rivas.
Kim added: “I also saw that they met up at Danielle Brown’s coffee shop, who Pete and Elen’s management also look after.

Mel B's sister Danielle Brown has revealed that she's "appalled" at the former Spice Girl after she failed to turn up for a reunion. Danielle explained that she had not spoken to Mel for three years when they arranged to meet up at The May Fair Hotel in London last week. She told Star: "It's so raw and upsetting. I'm so upset about it. She is my only sister. Even talking about it now makes me want to cry. "I've not seen her for three years. I was stood up. It's horrible. I'm just appalled. It's so raw and upsetting and it is hard for my family. It is real life, not a show. I've not seen her or her children for three years and she has never met my baby boy Hendrick." After (more)...

Mel B has dropped a big hint that she may be lined up for the new series of The X Factor.
The 35 year old singer, who is best known as scary spice from the Spice Girls, has recently returned from La to London and yesterday revealed that it won’t just be a flying visit.
She was seen meeting with X Factor boss Simon Cowell on a few occasions last year and during an interview on Heart FM yesterday, she admitted:
“I might be coming over for quite some time at some point next year.”
She then exclaimed: “I don’t think I was meant to say that.”
“I’m in so much trouble.”
Mel is currently pregnant and due to give birth this summer, so we’re thinking she may start auditions next month, then take some time off before the live shows start in October.

We would have thought that Kerry Katona could do without making any more enemies but it seems the reality TV star just can’t help herself.
The mum of four has hit out at former Spice Girl Mel B and rubbished her look and hair extensions.
The Dancing On Ice star said the singer’s locks look “fake”, telling The Daily Star:
“Mel B’s hair extensions are a big no-no. They look all ratty and so fake.”
We don’t know when Kerry became such a style expert and to make matters worse, Kerry is good pals with Mel’s younger sister, who we can’t imagine will be too happy to read that she’s been slagging her off in the press.
Katona added:
“I’m really good friends with Mel B’s sister Danielle Brown but I don’t know Mel that well.
“Mel C was always my favourite Spice Girl.

Melanie Brown hasn't spoken to her sister in over two years. The former Spice Girls singer, who lives in Los Angeles with husband Stephen Belafonte and her daughters, Phoenix, 11, and Angel, 3, from previous relationships, hasn't been in touch with any of her U.K.-based family and friends, according to her younger sibling Danielle Brown, who follows her on Twitter to see how she is.
