Stanley F. Buchthal, based in London and New York, is a Film and Television Producer and an Entrepreneur in media & entertainment and fashion.
Through his two companies: Dakota Group Ltd & LM Media GMbH he has produced or executive produced many feature films, documentaries and television series, as well as numerous theatre productions such as The Collaboration; In 2022, The Collaboration directed by Kwame Kwei-Armah, starring Jeremy Pope & Paul Bettany enjoyed a very successful run at the Young Vic London. Premiering at Broadways MTC Friedman Theatre in December 2022. The film of the stage play, written by Anthony McCarten is currently in post production. Other theatrical productions include; All Shook Up (Elvis Presley musical); Paper Dolls (based the award winning documentary that Stanley produced, directed by Tomer Heymann) which played at London's Tricycle Theatre and the Atlas Performing Arts Theater in Washington DC. Television productions currently in distribution include Mad About the Boy, the Noel Coward Story with Barnaby Thompson directing, narrated by Alan Cumming & Rupert Everett, released in 200 theaters across the UK in June 2023. Premiering on the BBC in 2023. Also, the multi Emmy nominated The Andy Warhol Diaries currently streaming on Netflix and the Grierson Trust Award winning, Biggie (The Notorious B.I.G.): I Got a Story to Tell, streaming on Netflix. Stanley also produced alongside HBO & StudioCanal the Liz Garbus film, Love Marilyn, the 2012 Documentary film about Marilyn's writing based on the book. Stanley was co-editor of the Marilyn Monroe Diaries; Fragments, published by Harper Collins & Farrar Strauss, which has been translated into over a dozen languages. He has won numerous awards for his documentary work, including a Grierson Award (Bobby Fischer Against the World); a Peabody (Marina Abramovic, The Artist Is Present; Lennon NYC); multiple Sundance Awards; many Audience Awards from various festivals and multiple Berlin Panorama (Marina Abramovic, The Artist Is Present; Paper Dolls). Stanley was producer on the 1988 John Water classic Hairspray, which in 2022 was included in the annual selection of twenty five influential motion pictures to be inducted into the National Film Registry of the Library of Congress. His films have been screened worldwide in every major film festival including Berlin, Cannes, Sundance & Toronto, and shown on every major broadcaster throughout the world, including Amazon; Arte; BBC; Disney; HBO & Netflix. Stanley is a member of the Board of Directors for the LUMA Foundation and has formerly served on the board to the Mustique Company & Play Magnus Group.
