Imagine if “Pawn Stars,” “American Pickers” and “Storage Wars” created a mashup spinoff, but with a higher purpose.
That’s what viewers will find when they tune into “Operation Hidden Treasures,” Discovery Channel’s new reality series that puts the spotlight on America’s veterans, as so few TV shows do.
The half-hour unscripted series follows members of the world’s biggest military veterans’ enterprise, JDog Junk Removal and Hauling, as they turn someone’s trash into someone else’s treasure, all for a good cause.
“I understand that trainwreck reality shows will always be popular, but I love making reality TV that showcases amazing people doing interesting things,” says executive producer Jim Milio.
Milio, who co-executive produced the film “My Big Fat Greek Wedding,” and hails from shows such shows National Geographic’s “Dog Whisperer,” History’s “Founding Fathers” and “Rescue 911” from CBS, has worked on many television projects that have positive impact.

The plaintiffs in the case are Jeanette Buerling and the Magnet Media Group, who are behind the upcoming Married and Cheating, starring Sarah Jessica Parker, Eva Longoria and Brendan Fraser. Buerling is suing Maggie Monteith and affiliated companies. According to the lawsuit, Monteith was formerly a co-manager at Mmg. Monteith is also credited on IMDb as an executive producer of

Exclusive: The La-based equity investor Magnet Media Group, which to date has backed two movies 13 (starring Mickey Rourke) and The Experiment (with Forest Whitaker and Adrien Brody), is producing its own films from now on. Jeanette Buerling, co-founder and CEO, tells me her experience of financing her first two Magnet movies soured her. Buerling realised that being a minority equity investor in both movies left her with no control over the finished product. “We were only seen as the people writing the dumb check,” she tells me. Mmg has raised $50 million through British investors, which it can then pump up [...]...

Despite a credit crunch that has wealthy investors hiding cash under their mattresses rather than risking it on films and Wall Street retreating from financing studio slates, Hollywood isn't running out of money.
Witness James Janowitz of Pryor Cashman. The attorney is buttoning up a $250 million structured finance arrangement -- including money from hedge funds -- that will help pay for the production of a dozen films.
"The market isn't as strong as it once was, but there is activity, and the structures make sense as long as they don't unduly favor the studio or producer," Janowitz says.
In short, a film-finance bubble that pumped billions into Hollywood during the first few years of the new millennium has popped, but the show is going on with new -- and a few old -- players.
Foreign investors and government entities, including U.S. states and foreign territories offering incentives, have taken up some of the slack.

New York -- Sony is feeling experimental.
The studio has boarded "The Experiment," the feature debut of "Prison Break" creator Paul Scheuring, and will distribute the movie in the U.S.
In addition, Travis Fimmel has joined the cast as a prison guard, while Maggie Grace will play the counterpoint to lead Adrien Brody.
In addition, Travis Fimmel has joined the cast, taking on the role that had been reported as going to Elijah Wood.
The pic revolves around several dozen men who, as part of a scientific experiment, are chosen to simulate the roles of prisoners and guards, prompting a host of dark consequences. The story is based on an incident at Stanford University in 1971 in which an experiment that sought to find out how ordinary people would react in a prison situation went horribly awry.
Adrien Brody and Forest Whitaker star in the psychological thriller, a remake of Oliver Hirschbiegel's 2001 German hit.
