"Teen Titans Go!" is a bit of a controversial cartoon among fans, as it is a much more comedic, kid-friendly version of the 2003 "Teen Titans" cartoon (which was darker and more anime-inspired). Some fans see "Teen Titans Go!" as representative of the uber-commercialization of art, a cash-grab of a show with none of the heart of the original. Of course, to think that would be to ignore one of the most subversive, hilarious, and most of all, bizarre superhero animated shows to date.
Then there's the movie, which gave us some of the best moments in a DC film (like Robin enthusiastically pushing Thomas and Martha Wayne into Crime Alley so Batman can exist), but also the TV show itself which stands alongside "Regular Show" and "Flapjack" as often breaking Cartoon Network's "no weird" rule. There are episodes where Robin teaches the Titans about equity, pyramid schemes, and even the IRS.

In April, Blake Shelton said the only way he’d ever return to The Voice is if he could do so alongside his fellow Og coaches, CeeLo Green, Adam Levine, and Christina Aguilera. Well, that is happening (sort of) for the upcoming Season 25 finale! As announced by NBC, Shelton will make his return to the singing competition series for the Season 25 finale on Tuesday, May 21, as part of a celebration of 25 seasons. The country star, who served as a coach for 13 years from Season 1 to Season 23, will be joined by two of his Og coaches, Green and Levine, as well as fellow coach alums Kelly Clarkson, Niall Horan, Jennifer Hudson, Nick Jonas, and Shelton’s wife, pop superstar Gwen Stefani. Aguilera is the only one from the original Voice coaching lineup not currently scheduled to appear for the live celebration. “If they were ever able to put together the original four coaches again,...

The Voice fans agree that the long-running singing competition hasn’t quite been the same since Blake Shelton hung it up and decided to retire as a judge. According to a source close to Blake, he would consider coming out of retirement under two strict conditions. So, what are they?
The Voice: Blake Shelton Was An Original Judge On The Show
Blake Shelton was part of the original lineup of The Voice judges when the show first premiered. It was NBC’s answer to American Idol, and they brought the star power to the judging panel. This is a trend that has continued in all of the seasons since.
When one industry heavy-hitter leaves The Voice judging panel, they are replaced by another judge who is at the top of their game. So, in that sense, there are no losers, because, you can always count on a high-caliber celeb...

One of Elvis Presley’s hits was written on-demand over the course of a weekend. The song’s co-writer thinks the song is great. At this point, its lyrics seem more problematic.
One writer co-wrote several of Elvis Presley‘s hits. Afterward, he named one of the Elvis ballads he thought deserved more attention, and it’s not a song that’s aged very well. While the song was a massive hit in the 1950s, it’s been overshadowed by some of the singer’s other hits today.
The writer of several Elvis Presley hits didn’t like his version of ‘Hound Dog’
Jerry Leiber and Mike Stoller were a songwriting duo known for writing 1950s and 1960s hits such as The Drifters’ “On Broadway,” Ben E. King’s “Stand By Me,” and Peggy Lee’s “Is That All There Is?” They also co-wrote Elvis’ “Hound Dog,” “Bossa Nova Baby,...

Some movies are so iconic it’s hard to imagine that they were originally going to be radically different. Elvis Presley‘s movie Jailhouse Rock once had a completely different title. One of Elvis’ regular songwriters revealed why the film’s initial name was abandoned. In addition, he discussed what he thought about Jailhouse Rock.
Elvis Presley’s movie ‘Jailhouse Rock’ could have been called ‘Ghost of a Chance’
Mike Stoller co-wrote several Elvis tunes, including “Hound Dog,” “Bossa Nova Baby,” “Little Egypt,” and “Jailhouse Rock.” During a 2022 interview with Variety, Stoller revealed the first title of the movie Jailhouse Rock was abandoned in favor of the title of his song.
“I think [the original title] was Ghost of a Chance,” he said. “That changed, I think, as soon as they heard the initial recording. Which is not the one in the film, because the one in the film was blown out and had a bigger orchestra.

In 2021, Jeymes Samuel unleashed “The Harder They Fall,” a revisionist Black Western with an All-Star cast and an equally impressive soundtrack. He turned the genre on its head, while still celebrating everything that he loved about Westerns of the past. And he looks to be doing the same thing with his new biblical epic “The Book of Clarence,” due out at the beginning of next year from TriStar Pictures and Legendary. And you can watch the brand-new trailer for it above.
“The Book of Clarence” stars Lakeith Stanfield as a man living in Jerusalem at the same time as Jesus. Inspired by Jesus’ rise, he “risks everything to carve his own path to a divine life, and ultimately discovers that the redemptive power of belief may be his only way out” (according to the official synopsis). The movie also stars Omar Sy, Anna Diop, Rj Cyler, David Oyelowo (rocking a...

Almost 20 years after recording the follow-up to their beloved 2003 album Ghetto Pop Life, Danger Mouse and Jemini have shared their long-shelved Born Again.
Originally released on September 9th, 2003, Ghetto Pop Life marked Danger Mouse’s first official album released on a record label. He went on to work with the likes of Mf Doom, CeeLo Green, The Shins’ James Mercer, and Yeah Yeah Yeahs’ Karen O, but before that, he and Brooklyn rapper Jemini recorded Born Again.
A press release describes the unreleased record as more introspective than the duo’s braggadocios debut, but lead single “Brooklyn Basquiat” still has Ghetto Pop Life’s scrappy quality. “I made a few records but I’m still struggling,” Jemini admits, though moments later, he spits, “The issue that I’m trying to address in this song/ Is how a n**** stay fresh this long.” Complete with a flute melody and an interpolation of The Notorious B.

How’s this for some “Smooth” news?
Sony Pictures Classics and Trafalgar Releasing have announced that “Carlos,” the feature-length documentary film about legendary guitarist and global icon Carlos Santana, will launch with a three-day “premiere event” on September 23, Sunday, September 24, and Wednesday, September 27. The documentary will go wide on Friday, September 29.
The earlier screenings, dubbed “Carlos: The Santana Journey Global Premiere,” will include the documentary plus exclusive introductory content featuring Santana and the film’s director, Emmy Award-winning filmmaker Rudy Valdez.
“Carlos” premiered earlier this year at the Tribeca Film Festival, where our reviewer said: “There are profound and powerful anecdotes, such as Santana describing taking a shower and visualizing the shame associated with being a sexual abuse survivor going down the drain, that elevate ‘Carlos’ from the garden-variety music biographical puff pieces produced by record labels and/or available on various streaming platforms.”
