Exclusive: Following a competitive process, New Regency Television International is joining forces with UK musician and DJ Goldie on TV series Sine Tempore.
Goldie – real name Clifford Price – has spent the best part of a decade conceiving a TV event, in part inspired by his own life story. Set in an unnamed British metropolis in the 1970s, ‘80s and ‘90s – and infused with the music, fashion and art of the time – the series is described to us as “a sweeping, kinetic story of survival in the city and the shattering fallout of a fated love affair”.
The Revenant and The Beast Must Die producer New Regency is working with Goldie and writer-director Dan Cadan (Walk Like A Panther) on the scripts for the drama, before approaching buyers. Goldie also has an original soundtrack composed for the show.

“It’s a song about not getting to say goodbye and the frustration of things left unsaid,” Gallagher said of the track in a statement.
As Gallagher previously revealed, the video stars The Crown actor Matt Smith in an homage of sorts to Jean Luc-Godard’s French New Wave classic Breathless.

An evident labour of love for first-time writer-director Dan Cadan, this cheerful British comedy attempts to fuse a nostalgic love of Saturday teatime TV wrestling with a band-of-plucky-underdogs plot that’s straight out of The Full Monty. The result leaves a lot to be desired, but there’s no denying that the film’s heart is in the right place.
The film begins with a wistful flashback to the 1980s, when the nation was glued to British wrestling on ITV’s World of Sport, every Saturday tea-time and young Mark Bolton (Stephen Graham) grew up idolising his wrestler father, Trevor “Bulldog” Bolton (I, Daniel Blake’s Dave Johns) and his wrestling troupe, The Panthers. "The Panthers... You shall all be warriors once more!" 20th Century Fox UK has unveiled an official trailer for a feel-good, cheesy comedy titled Walk Like A Panther, which opens in UK cinemas in March (but no Us release planned yet). The film stars Stephen Graham and Dave Johns (the lead of I, Daniel Blake) as a father-son duo who must team up to help save their local pub when it's threatened. They gather up their old wrestling friends to put on one big show dressed up in their goofy 80's wrestling costumes to make extra money for the pub. The cast includes Stephen Marcus, Julian Sands, Jill Halfpenny, Christopher Fairbank, Robbie Gee, Sue Johnston, plus Stephen Tompkinson, along with Lena Headey and Jason Flemyng. This looks sort of fun, I guess. If this kind of British humor is your thing, then have at it. Here's the official UK trailer...

One can be blind and still be a "Lover of the Light": that seems to be the moral to the story in the Mumford & Sons' video of the same name, which features the directing and acting talents of "The Wire" star Idris Elba. Co-directed with Dan Cadan, "Lover" sends a man who cannot see into the stunning landscapes of Pembrokeshire, Wales without his dog or cane. I'm moved by the details and pauses inside the man's house, as he converses with himself, and selects a tie to wear as he takes himself on a date to the forests, cliffs and the...

Chicago – I love IFC Films. They release such a diverse, interesting slate of films every year that one never quite knows what they’re going to get with each individual offering. Five recent IFC titles are the subject of the latest DVD Round-Up, our regular column drawing attention to titles that may have otherwise gone unnoticed.
Titles in this very arthouse edition of the Round-Up include a stylish horror film called “Nightmare,” a twisted thriller called “Pvc-1,” a puzzle of a story known as “Fermat’s Room,” an Icelandic movie called “White Night Wedding,” and an odd flick directed by Madonna known as “Filth and Wisdom”. Art film fans should check them all out. Keep IFC going as strongly as they have lately. But if you need more information, official synopsis, cast, and tech details follow.

Director: Madonna
Writers: Madonna, Dan Cadan
Cinematographer: Tim Maurice-Jones
Starring: Eugene Hutz, Holly Weston, Vicky McClure, Richard E. Grant
Studio/Run Time: IFC, 81 mins.
Crisply written, maturely mild sex comedy from the one-time Material Girl
Madonna’s directorial debut, Filth and Wisdom, contains the expected: strippers, light S&M, erotic poetry. But, co-written with Guy Ritchie associate Dan Cadan, it also has crisp banter, endearing characters and the magnetism of Gogol Bordello’s Eugene Hutz, whose narrator, A.K., fronts a struggling gypsy-punk band in London while he beats up pervs for money on the side. For saints, “filth will appear as an oasis,” he says early, facing the camera, puppy-eyed. Throughout, the ensemble—including blind poet Professor Flynn (a dignified Richard E. Grant)—treats depravity as a resource, a way of accessing freedom. A.K.’s ballerina flatmate—the genuinely sweet Holly Watson—gradually finds herself after...

There's plenty to be pleased about this week as we get to spend time with both current and future presidents as part of an Ellen Burstyn double bill.
