Nick Carter’s making a horror movie. Yes, that Nick Carter. The boy band member Nick Carter. And to be quite honest, why not? As of today, he’s raised $99,001 — more than the original $85,000 fund-raising goal he set on Indiegogo. And he's used everything in his arsenal — Backstreet Boy fans included — to make it happen. (Five fans who gave over $1,000 got a signed Bsb CD and two free tickets to a Bsb show.) The movie, Evil Blessings, will be co-produced by Rob Carliner (Crazy Heart) and tell the story of “three friends who go up to the the mountains to hunt, but soon discover they are the one's being hunted by an ancient family of evil.” We talked to Carter about the project and, naturally, requested a list of his favorite scary movies.I understand you’re hoping to make a horror movie. To that end, I'm about to start down the path of my other dream: to become a film producer and screenwriter," said Carter on his Indiegogo page. Rob Carliner ("Crazy Heart") is on board as a producer, according to Carter, who said he will be matching a portion of all funds raised. We all remember this guy from The Hunger Games, right? Well, guess what, Alexander Ludwig has a completely new job! He will star next to previously announced Abigail Breslin in the upcoming indie project titled Final Girl, which comes from photographer-turned-director Tyler Shields, who’s making his directorial debut with this one.
Not much is known about Final Girl, except that Adam Prince is behind the script and that the story comes from Steve Scarlata, Alejandro Seri and Johnny Silver.
The movie will center on a girl (logically) who, after being dropped into the woods and hunted by a group of teenage boys, turns the tables by hunting them.
Guess that Breslin is on board to play that girl, and as for Ludwig’s character – still no details.
Rob Carliner, Jeff Kwatinetz and Joseph and Jack Nasser will produce the pic through Nasser’s Ngn Productions and Kwatinetz and Carliner’s Prospect Park.

Variety reports that Robert Duvall and Jeremy Irvine (War Horse) have been set to lead A Night in Old Mexico, the second effort from director Emilio Aragón (Paper Birds). With a cast that also features Angie Cepeda (Love in the Time of Cholera), Luis Tosar (Miami Vice), and Javier Gutiérrez (Extract), the film centers on a “developing relationship” shared between an older gentleman (Duvall) and his grandson (Irvine), along with the “action, tragedy and romance” in their lives. William D. Wittliff has written Old Mexico, making this his first script since 2000′s The Perfect Storm; I guess he finally had a story to tell.
I doubt the picture will bring much in the way of spectacle or setpieces (the weird promise of “action” notwithstanding), but that’s just fine. This doesn’t sound as though it needs to be anything other than pleasantly low-key and honest, while Duvall and Irvine...

However as a side effect a virus has also been created that has lead to all subsequent generations of women and men having lifespans of twenty and twenty five years respectively.
The main narrative follows a kidnapped girl and her attempt to escape from a forced polygamous marriage designed to keep the population from dying out. Jeff Kwatinetz and Rob Carliner will produce.

Jeff Kwatinetz's 2-year-old Prospect Park is raising its TV profile with the hire of former ABC drama development executive Josh Barry as partner in its TV group. Barry will develop and produce drama and comedy series, as well as unscripted television projects, reporting to Prospect Park CEO Kwatinetz. He will work with Paul Frank, son of Prospect Park partner Rich Frank, who spearheaded the TV division since its inception and will continue to serve as partner in it alongside Barry. Last summer, the company tapped Rob Carliner to run its newly launched film department. “Not only has Josh been responsible for developing some of the most commercially successful and critically acclaimed shows of the last decade, he has a track record complete with key network experience and a passion for cultivating writers of different genres and styles,” said Kwatinetz. Barry said he is already working on "putting together a wide slate of projects.

Political currents in a number of financially troubled states are sending a chill through Hollywood -- a tax-incentive chill. Worry that such vital incentives will be cut significantly -- or entirely -- have producers and studios worried about how they will finance domestic film and TV production, with several important tax-credit states seriously reconsidering their programs. "We're at a critical stage right now," Rob Carliner, who produced the Oscar-winning "Crazy Heart," which was filmed in New Mexico, told TheWrap. "The state of the incentives all over is changing radically, so we’re all...

"Crazy Heart" producer Rob Carliner has been tapped to run Prospect Park's newly formed film division.
Prospect Park is the entertainment company founded by Jeff Kwatinetz, among others, and has so far been active in the television sphere. It produces USA's "Royal Pains" and is in production on the FX pilot "Wilfred" starring Elijah Wood.
Hiring Carliner, who will report and work in collaboration with Kwatinetz, puts the company on a feature track. He will be responsible for developing and overseeing a film slate and may also work on certain TV projects.
"Rob's joining us comes at a time when Prospect Park is experiencing a terrific run developing quality television, film and overall programming fare," Kwatinetz said in a statement. "We felt the time was right to bring in a seasoned film executive, and in Rob we found an executive who has that elusive combination of experience, great relationships in the community and,...

"Precious" dominated the 25th Spirit Awards March 5 with wins for best feature, best director (Lee Daniels), best first screenplay (Geoffrey Fletcher), best female lead (Gabourey Sidibe), and best supporting female (Mo'Nique). It's a poetic turn for the film, which focuses on the kind of girl that no one looks at twice, to have such an overwhelming acknowledgment from the independent film community. Likewise, in the pressroom, Sidibe joked that her upcoming plans included "world domination." This might have had something to do with her co-star Mariah Carey whispering that very phrase in her ear. "Mariah gives me all my bad ideas," said Sidibe, laughing. "[The film's success] really is a testament to the genius of Mr. Daniels. He has the power to transform people with completely different personalities into something 180 degrees different."Daniels expressed excitement for the upcoming Oscars, which took place two days later. "I am over the moon. Whether or not we win the Oscar,...

Mo’Nique still has one more trophy to pick up this weekend, but the good times for everyone involved in the making of Precious has pretty much come to a close.
