In the world of comic book movies, there has never been a stranger relationship than the one between Jon Watts and Spider-Man. One of the most critically as well as commercially favored and strongest IPs of Marvel Comics, Spider-Man’s entry into the MCU was placed in the hands of a creator with the strangest IMDb credits under his directorial section.
Known for directing music videos, shorts, a claymation movie, and television series, Watts couldn’t have been placed at a more substantial position and with a more high-risk, high-reward IP than directing Spider-Man’s first debut under the Marvel banner after the controversial 12-year-long saga at Sony.

The first official poster for upcoming horror comedy, Nightbitch, has been released to mark Mother's Day. The surreal-sounding horror comedy stars Amy Adams (Man of Steel) as a woman who starts to believe she's undergoing a hair-raising transformation.
The six-time Academy Award nominee will play a woman who begins to transform into a dog (or thinks she does... it's not really clear). Searchlight Pictures acquired the project, which is described as a "darkly comic horror" adaptation of Rachel Yoder’s acclaimed debut novel of the same name.
Can You Ever Forgive Me? director Marielle Heller will take the helm.
“She’s incredible, I mean, we all know Amy Adams is incredible," Heller said of Adams' performance in a recent interview with IndieWire. "She’s been nominated for a million Academy Awards. She’s amazing, but she really is special in this movie and I’m just so excited for the world to see her.

Following his December debut as the 15th iteration of the shapeshifting “Doctor Who” protagonist, Ncuti Gatwa is in the running for this year’s Best Drama Actor Emmy. As it happens, he is set to be joined on the nominations ballot by three actors who preceded him in the role of the Doctor, all of whom (like him) are seeking their very first Primetime Emmy notices.
Challenging Gatwa for inclusion in the 2024 drama lead lineup is Peter Capaldi, who played the 12th Doctor from 2014 to 2017. He currently stars on the new Apple TV+ series “Criminal Record” as Daniel Hegarty, a veteran police chief who clashes with a younger sergeant prying into a supposedly solved murder case.
Gatwa is concurrently eligible for a Best TV Movie/Limited Series Supporting Actor nomination for Apple TV+’s “Masters of the Air,” on which he portrays real-life World War II Air Force officer Robert Daniels.

There are over 30 projects rumored to be in development and scheduled to be released sometime in the next two years, and ‘Thor 5’ is one of them, at least according to the rumors that are getting louder and louder. Recently, Taika Waititi commented on the possibility of him helming the fifth God of Thunder movie in the MCU, and he shrugged it off, saying that it’s really not on his schedule at the moment.
This is ultimately a good thing if you are familiar with ‘Love and Thunder’ which is often lauded to be the worst Thor movie by a long shot, something that even Hemsworth commented on recently. Now ‘Thor 5’ is still without a director and one surprising name has stated that he would like to direct it, primarily due to his experience working with Chris Hemsworth.

There are more than 30 rumored projects expected to come out in the next couple of years, and ‘Thor 5’ is one of them, according to the increasingly loud rumors. Recently, Taika Waititi addressed the possibility of directing the fifth Thor movie but dismissed it, saying it’s not in his plans right now.
This could be seen as a positive development, especially if you consider the criticism ‘Love and Thunder’ has received, with some calling it the worst Thor film yet, a sentiment even echoed by Hemsworth himself recently. With ‘Thor 5’ still lacking a director, one unexpected name has thrown their hat into the ring, expressing interest primarily because of their experience collaborating with Chris Hemsworth.

While Thor: Love and Thunder was critically maligned, it was still a box office success for Marvel Studios, earning $761M worldwide from a production budget of $250M.
After helming two Thor films in a row, director Taika Waititi has indicated that he's likely done with the franchise, opening the door for another director to step in, if Marvel Studios and Kevin Feige want to make another standalone Thor film.
As such, George Miller was recently asked whether he would consider reuniting with Chris Hemsworth on Thor 5, after directing the Australian actor in the upcoming Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga.
Somewhat surprisingly, Miller stated that he'd consider it.
"I would work with Chris on anything. I really would. He's a wonderful actor. He's got the full range of all the skills," said Miller. "I mean, you've got to be athletic, physically."

"Alien" star Sigourney Weaver is headed back to space, but this time, instead of fighting off aliens, she could be befriending them. The Hollywood Reporter broke the news that Weaver is in talks to take on a role in "The Mandalorian & Grogu," the upcoming "Star Wars" film that will be directed by Jon Favreau.
While "Star Wars" has been pretty prolific on the small screen in recent years, the saga created by George Lucas hasn't actually released a new feature film since 2019's "The Rise of Skywalker." "The Mandalorian & Grogu" was officially announced in January of this year, after years of media focus spent on other potential Lucasfilm works-in-progress, including projects from Taika Waititi and Patty Jenkins. Most of those projects seem to still be in the works according to recent reports, but "The Mandalorian & Grogu" is set to head into production first with a summer shoot scheduled,...

In a galaxy far, far away, no one can hear you scream…Sigourney Weaver — who is certainly no stranger to sci-fi — is reportedly in talks to join the cast of The Mandalorian & Grogu, set to be the first new Star Wars film in seven years by the time it arrives in 2026.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, Sigourney Weaver is possibly near a deal to become part of the Star Wars Saga with The Mandalorian & Grogu, which is huge and exciting news for fans of both. And considering her history in the sci-fi and fantasy genre – Alien franchise, Ghostbusters, Galaxy Quest, Avatar, etc. – she would absolutely be a natural addition.
The next few years will be crucial for Star Wars, with a new set of movies that will further build on the franchise and the series that the studio has invested in. As far as The Mandalorian & Grogu goes,...

For children, summer always seems full of endless possibility. The breaks from school, the family trips, the time spent at camp or reading books and watching movies.
These days, the closest thing we have is summer entertainment — the cultural distraction from otherwise having fewer breaks, shifting travel (wedding season!), and maybe not as many of those life-changing adventures that a lot of summertime stories seem to be based on. Summer movies offer a chance to go out and cool down while summer TV is the best way to wind down and stay in after days of work, travel, and relentless heat.

In Taika Waititi's 2022 film "Thor: Love and Thunder," an emotionally wounded man named Gorr (Christian Bale) has learned that the very real gods of the Marvel universe are selfish, uncaring, and are more interested in cavorting with nymphs and naiads than answering prayers. By happenstance, he comes into possession of a magical sword specifically designed for killing gods and takes on a quest to rid the universe of its living deities. "Love and Thunder" could have brought up some tantalizingly difficult questions about atheism, or the role of faith in the modern world. It could have mentioned the dubious function of gods in a universe that regularly produces superpowered uber-beings. It didn't. Instead, it was a whimsical slapstick comedy starring a hero who, like Homer Simpson, became dumber and dumber as the series progressed.
Partway through "Love and Thunder," Gorr kidnaps the children of Asgard and imprisons them in the Shadow Realm,...

Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster tournament is back. While studios during Covid wildly embraced the theatrical day-and-date model when cinemas were closed, they soon realized there’s nothing more profitable than a theatrical release and the downstreams that come with it. If anything, theatrical is the advertisement for a movie’s longevity in subsequent home entertainment windows. Entering the conversation in 2023 were the streamers, such as Apple, who have also realized the necessity of theatrical to eventize their movies. The financial data pulled together here for Deadline’s Most Valuable Blockbuster Tournament is culled by seasoned and trusted sources.

It won’t be wrong to say that Thor’s role is Chris Hemsworth’s magnum opus. The Norse god was one of Marvel’s original team of Avengers, even forming a part of the team that took on Loki and the Chitauri in the Battle of New York.
He’s been one of the mainstays in the Industry. No wonder that he felt sad with giving his faithfuls an experience to forget in Thor: Love and Thunder. The 2022 flick failed to build on the success of Thor: Ragnarok, one of the Men in Black: International star’s biggest regret. But there is another role that gave him a lot of headache.

That Thor: Love and Thunder was a shadow of Taika Waititi’s Thor: Ragnarok is no secret.

Chris Hemsworth had his career-defining role in 2011 with the MCU film Thor. Since then, the actor has been in multiple Marvel films, playing the God of Thunder. While the actor has also appeared in films such as Extraction and Snow White and the Huntsman, he became a worldwide star and one of the highest-paid actors with the Thor and Avengers films.
However, the fourth solo film in the franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder was not as well-received as its predecessors. Despite being a commercial success, the film was criticized for its shoddy VFX and writing. Hemsworth has now come out and taken responsibility for the film’s disappointing response.

However, the fourth solo film in the franchise, Thor: Love and Thunder was not as well-received as its predecessors. Despite being a commercial success, the film was criticized for its shoddy VFX and writing. Hemsworth has now come out and taken responsibility for the film’s disappointing response.

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is widely seen as the weakest of Thor’s solo films in the MCU. Directed by Taika Waititi, it took a campy approach to Thor and his foe Gorr the God Butcher. This marked a significant departure from the more successful ‘Thor: Ragnarok.’
Chris Hemsworth admitted in an interview with Vanity Fair that he holds himself responsible for the movie’s shortcomings, regretting his role in mocking a beloved character.
Chris Hemsworth recognized that Marvel fans should get another ‘Thor’ movie after the letdown of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ in 2022. He had admitted before that the fourth movie was “too silly,” and it still weighs on him.
I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself. I didn’t stick the landing.
Hemsworth also confessed that he always felt his co-stars in the ‘Avengers’ movies had much cooler things to do.

‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ is by far and wide accepted as the worst release in Thor’s standalone series in the MCU. Directed by Taika Waititi, the movie was a campy take on both Thor and one of his most notorious villains – Gorr the God Butcher.
It was definitely a drastic shift from ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ which is considered one of the best installments in the series. Now talking to Vanity Fair, Chris Hemsworth himself noted that he blames himself for the failure of the movie, and blames himself for accepting to ridicule such a well-established character.
Chris Hemsworth acknowledged that Marvel fans deserve another ‘Thor’ movie following the perceived disappointment of ‘Thor: Love and Thunder’ in 2022. He previously admitted that the fourth installment was ‘too silly,’ and this criticism seems to linger for him.

Chris Hemsworth Reveals He Was Getting Frustrated With His MCU Role As He Opens Up On Thor: Love And Thunder’s Failure (Photo Credit – IMDb)
Chris Hemsworth is best known for playing Thor in the MCU, but his last solo movie, Thor: Love and Thunder, was a disaster and was faced with much criticism. It seems Hemsworth is still not over the film’s bad reception among the audience. He has also revealed being frustrated with his role as the God of Thunder. Keep scrolling for more.
The fourth installment in his solo franchise was released in 2022, bringing back Natalie Portman as Jane Foster; in addition, the MCU movie featured Christian Bale as Gorr the God Butcher and Russell Crowe as Zeus. Despite the ensemble cast members, the film failed to create the desired magic on screen. It was deemed too silly, and director Taika Waititi was slammed for excessive comic elements in the movie.

Chris Hemsworth has once again reflected on his role in the poor reception to Thor: Love and Thunder, shouldering the blame for leaning too much into the extreme silliness of the film.
In a new cover story with Vanity Fair, Hemsworth explained, “I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself. I didn’t stick the landing.”
The star of the Thor franchise previously spoke about the fourth installment with GQ last year, detailing his worry that the movie may have been “too silly,” prompting him to “do some other stuff for a while.”
In the interview with Vanity Fair, it’s clear Hemsworth’s feelings on the subject have only continued to solidify since then — but he’s torn between his desire to be “taken seriously” by directors like Greta Gerwig and Steven Spielberg, while also believing that “he owes the...

Chris Hemsworth doesn’t love “Thor: Love and Thunder.”
In a new Vanity Fair profile, the Australian actor criticized his performance in the 2022 Marvel movie, his fourth outing as the hammer-wielding superhero Thor. And he’d like to do another “Thor” movie to make up for it.
“Love and Thunder” was the followup to 2017’s “Thor: Ragnarok,” which is widely considered to be the best “Thor” movie and one of the best Marvel movies overall. Both films are directed by Taika Waititi, who brought his playful, improv-heavy style of comedy to the franchise. But while “Ragnarok” is beloved for its sense of humor, Hemsworth thinks “Love and Thunder” took it too far.

Unlike Iron Man and Captain America, who became instant favorites among fans of the MCU, Chris Hemsworth’s Thor initially struggled to land his footing among the MCU greats. While his first film was far from a failure, it was still considered one of the weaker entries in the initial phases. On top of that, the critical failure of The Dark World would finally push the MCU to make some notable changes to the character.
As a result, we got Taika Waititi for the threequel, which not only surpassed the previous two entries in quality, Ragnarok ended up cementing itself as one of the best pre-Infinity War films. Unfortunately, the character once again hit a new low following the failure of Thor: Love and Thunder, and Hemsworth still hasn’t forgiven himself for this debacle.

According to the origin of Marvel’s Thor, the All-Father Odin sends his son to Earth to learn humility. It sounds like Thor actor Chris Hemsworth has had to do the same thing.
Hemsworth’s Thor was riding high going into 2022’s Thor: Love and Thunder, following 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok, which won over fans who dismissed his first two solo outings, as well as the strong emotional arc in 2019’s Avengers: Endgame. But for many, Love and Thunder pushed the wacky sensibilities of writer/director Taika Waititi too far, resulting in a movie too glib to be funny. And Hemsworth agrees.
“I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” the Aussie actor recently admitted to Vanity Fair. “I didn’t stick the landing.”
It’s easy to see why Hemsworth leaned so far into Waititi’s style for Love and Thunder.

Just before Avengers: Infinity War, many were pleased at the new life breathed into the Thor series when What We Do in the Shadows director Taika Waititi took on the undertaking of a big-budget franchise film. Thor: Ragnarok was a massive hit and it seemed like this new direction was a welcomed one for the God of Thunder. After Thor’s arc in the Infinity Saga seemingly concluded in Avengers: Endgame, it looked like some strange new adventures were on the horizon as he joined up with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Then, Thor: Love and Thunder would bring back Waititi and an impressive cast for what would ultimately have a less-than-stellar reception.

When Taika Waititi released “Thor: Ragnarok” in 2017, the refreshingly comedic take on God Of Thunder was overwhelmingly well received, with fans loving the more irreverent take on the Norse God. Most critics and fans still consider it the best “Thor” film. However, the same cannot be said about 2022’s “Thor: Love and Thunder,” which left a bad taste in the mouth of the same franchise enthusiasts— its humor dialed up far too wacky and extreme for most.

Chris Hemsworth is still wincing at the reception of Marvel’s Thor: Love and Thunder.
The actor looked back on the goofily disappointing 2022 Marvel movie in a new profile in Vanity Fair.
“I got caught up in the improv and the wackiness, and I became a parody of myself,” Hemsworth said. “I didn’t stick the landing.”
The profile noted that Hemsworth feels like he owes fans another Thor movie due to the fourth film’s reception.
The 40-year-old is perhaps being a bit hard on himself (something he admits he’s prone to do), given the film’s creative direction was largely driven by its co-writer and director, Taika Waititi, who previously led the Thor franchise to what’s universally considered its best film, 2017’s Thor: Ragnarok. Also, while Love and Thunder might never be a fan favorite, it still grossed $760 million at the box office and has a Rotten Tomatoes score of 63 percent,...

Chris Hemsworth has expressed his disappointment at Thor: Love And Thunder, and there are hints that he may reprise the Thor role one more time.
Released in 2022, Thor: Love And Thunder didn’t do too badly for Marvel Studios – in fact, compared to 2023 offerings Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania and The Marvels, its $760m box office sounds downright rosy.
One person who wasn’t entirely happy with the superhero sequel, though – or at least his performance in it – was its star, Chris Hemsworth. Less than two years after Love And Thunder emerged in cinemas, Hemsworth has suggested he “didn’t stick the landing.”
Hemsworth’s comments have emerged in a glossy feature for Vanity Fair magazine – one of those pieces where the actor’s interviewed in their home surroundings with the words accompanied by pictures of them relaxing in baggy jumpers and cardigans.

Thor: Love and Thunder had all the makings of the best Marvel Studios movie ever. Heavily inspired by Jason Aaron's Thor run and featuring both The Mighty Thor and Gorr the God Butcher, the sequel has a lot going for it.
Among those plus points was Thor: Ragnarok director Taika Waititi. He'd successfully reinvented the God of Thunder in that 2017 blockbuster and fans were excited to see what came next. Unfortunately, the result was a movie which largely disappointed fans and let down both its new and returning characters.
Waititi, who was given perhaps too much freedom with Thor: Love and Thunder, has largely shrugged off the complaints. Chris Hemsworth, however, has addressed them head-on and doesn't shy away from acknowledging where the movie fell short.

This kids’ adventure story with a faux medievalist vibe has a cute conceit and some fun sequences but the inexperience of the cast and director shows
If you’ve ever tried to make a home movie with young children, you quickly come to appreciate how hard it is to get the little monsters to remember their lines and hit their marks, let alone give good performances. It’s an education in the difference between good and bad direction, the raw, primary-teacher skill in herding cats while also managing tone, quality control and all that storytelling stuff. Just try it for yourself and you’ll realise just how good a job directors such as Garth Jennings or Taika Waititi did with child-led films like Son of Rambow or Hunt for the Wilderpeople.
At the very least, this awareness will help you be a bit more forgiving of a film like Riddle of Fire.

Yates scored a nomination at the Critics Choice Awards in the best young actor/actress category for “Jojo Rabbit.” In “Clout,” co-written by Tom Duthie, Tristam Thomas and Doidge, Yates plays boarding school teen Oskar who meets a tragic turn while proving himself in a bid for online fame. The script aims to be a hard-hitting social commentary that tackles hot-button issues like cyberbullying, viral obsession, and the erosion of truth in the digital sphere.
The cast also includes Nadine Marshall, Anna Wilson-Jones, Samuel Leakey (“Gretel & Hansel”) and social media influencer Kit Price.

Oscar-nominated actress Amy Adams was everywhere over the last decade, but the actress seemingly took a beat after a busy 2021. Since 2022’s “Disenchanted,” the actress hasn’t appeared in anything, not one film or TV project. That changes in 2024 with at least one movie scheduled for December (“Night Bitch”) and another filming now (Taika Waititi’s “Klara and the Sun”).

Based on what I can gather about her new film, At the Sea, Amy Adams needs a pair of sandals and a stiff drink. Adams is teaming up with Kornel Mundruczó and Kata Wéber – the director and writer of Pieces of a Woman and White God – for a new drama about rejuvenation and adjusting to a life you had not planned to live.
According to Deadline, At the Sea finds Adams’s Laura returning to her family at their holiday beach house after a long rehabilitation. Once there, Laura must readjust to her new lot in life, still haunted by aspects she tried to leave behind. Staring down the barrel of a new chapter of her life, Laura must cope without her fame, fortune, and, of all things, her identity.
Adams, a six-time Academy Award-nominated actress, recently wrapped production on the sci-fi drama Klara and the Sun, which Taika Waititi directs.

Amy Adams has been tapped to star in At the Sea, a new drama from Kornel Mundruczó and Kata Wéber — the director and writer of such acclaimed films as Pieces of a Woman and White God — as well as Hammerstone Studios, Ryder Picture Company and Ar Content.
Set to enter production in Boston in June, the film follows the life of Laura (Adams) after a long rehabilitation, as she returns to her family at their beach holiday home where she has to readjust to the complicated life she left behind. Now she is forced to face the following next chapter of her life without the career that gave her fame, fortune and, most importantly, identity.
Pic will be produced by Alexander Rodnyansky of Ar Content, Stuart Manashil, Aaron Ryder and Andrew Swett for Ryder Picture Company, Hammerstone Studios’ Alex Lebovici and Jon Oakes, and Viktória Petrányi and Mundruczó. Exec producers are Paul J. Diaz, Maria Breese of 3:33 Creative, Lee Broda of Lb Entertainment, Jeff Rice of Jeff Rice Films, and Michael Kupisk. Zsofi Oblath and Rachel Rubin will co-produce.
Ar Content, Paul J. Diaz, and Hammerstone Studios will finance the film, with WME Independent to rep domestic rights, Capstone Pictures handling international, and Sacker Law to oversee production legal.
A six-time Academy Award nominee, Adams most recently wrapped production on 3000 Pictures’ Klara and the Sun, the next film from Oscar winner Taika Waititi, which adapts the dystopian sci-fi story from Kazuo Ishiguro. Up next, she’ll be seen starring in Searchlight Pictures’ Nightbitch from filmmaker Marielle Heller, a dark comedy she also produced through her production company Bond Group Entertainment that hits theaters December 6.
A married director-writer pair out of Hungary, Mundruczó and Wéber are perhaps best known for their 2020 pregnancy drama Pieces of a Woman, which premiered in Venice and brought star Vanessa Kirby her first Oscar nomination following its release on Netflix. Prior to that, the duo collaborated on White God, which won the Un Certain Regard Prize at Cannes in 2014; Jupiter’s Moon, which was nominated for the Palme d’Or; and Evolution, which also played the French festival. Separately, Mundruczó directed the pilot of the Apple TV+ limited series, The Crowded Room, starring Tom Holland and Amanda Seyfried.
Most recently, Hammerstone produced the action thriller Boy Kills World starring Bill Skarsgård, which will release wide on April 26, and the horror-thriller Don’t Move, starring Kelsey Asbille and Finn Wittrock, for Netflix.
Ryder Picture Company has produced acclaimed titles like Dumb Money and Bruiser.
Ar Content is known for Cannes prize winners like 2019’s Beanpole, from filmmaker Kantemir Balagov, and 2021’s Unclenching the Fists from Kira Kovalenko.
Adams is represented by WME, Linden Entertainment, and Sloane, Offer, Weber & Dern. Mundruczó and Wéber are repped by United Agents and Novo.

It just so happens that many can be found on FX. A network that celebrates edgy and innovative storytelling, with great female roles at the series center.
Often, these roles subvert female stereotypes. You have Anna Sawai’s brilliant performance in Shōgun, one of the greatest roles in television history, who gives a thoughtful, sumptuous, and cunning performance. Then, last year, in A Murder at the End of the World, Emma Corrin brought to life one of the most complex characters on television in recent memory.

Along the way, the analysts totaled up the potential financial revenue that Hollywood could stand to gain if it adopted more culturally inclusive business solutions: $10 billion per year from closing the Black inequity gap, an eye-popping $12 billion to $18 billion from properly valuing Latino professionals and consumers, and — in the latest report released today, conducted in collaboration with Gold House — $2 billion to $4.4 billion from more effectively tapping the Asian and Pacific Islander market.
The latter figure is calculated based on U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics data that Asian Americans earn on average 30 percent more than non-Asian Americans but spend 35 percent less on media. Meanwhile, McKinsey’s own survey of Api consumers found that nearly...
