For a while, Hollywood flirted with Parkour as a way to spice up action scenes. The most notable example was in 2006's "Casino Royale" when Daniel Craig's Bond pursued freerunner Sébastien Foucan across the Madagascar landscape, up a large crane and down again, and into an embassy which he promptly blew up. It was quite the sequence, and the first to significantly showcase freerunning (Parkour's cousin) in a major Hollywood blockbuster.
Parkour became increasingly popular in North America during the first decade of the 2000s, becoming somewhat of an internet sensation and occasionally cropping up in mainstream culture. By 2009, even the staff over at Dunder Mifflin were getting in on the action. "The Office" started its sixth season with a now fondly-remembered, infinitely-memed cold open that saw Michael, Dwight, and Andy attempting some highly questionable Parkour moves around the office.
But prior to Hollywood's tentative love affair with Parkour,...

Detroit gets no love.
In one of Paul Walker’s final performances, the late actor stars in this action packed remake called “Brick Mansions.” The film is based off 2004’s French film “District B13” that introduced us to very creative parkour chase scenes.
Luc Besson also wrote the American remake from his French version, which is nearly the exact same story except it’s Americanized for this audience. As a bonus, parkour extraordinaire David Belle plays Lino in the same role as he did ten years ago with the French version.
The story is set in the near future, in which the Brick Mansions project is walled in like a prison from the rest of Detroit. A drug lord Tremaine Alexander (RZA) rules the neighborhood through his shipments of drugs and guns. Tremaine kidnaps Lino’s ex-girlfriend as revenge for him destroying his recent shipment. Paul Walker's Brick Mansions and Philip Seymour Hoffman's God's Pocket are just the latest examples of cinema's unique, and sometimes eerie, gift for resurrection

There was a time when French filmmaker Luc Besson made good movies. During the 90′s he wrote and directed films such as Nikita, Léon and The Fifth Element – all so innovative, intense and thrilling – here was a filmmaker to get excited about. However his recent run of form has been tragically underwhelming, as following on from Taken 2 and The Family, he has now co-penned the remake for one of his former films, District B13, changing the title to Brick Mansions, and handing directing duties to Camille Delamarre.
We follow an undercover cop Damien Collier (Walker) who infiltrates a dangerous neighbourhood, confined within the restrictions of a containment wall set up by the Government. His mission is to take down the notorious gangster Tremaine Alexander (RZA), who intends on destroying the entire community. Damien has an additional incentive too, believing the crime-lord to have been behind his father’s killing.

★★☆☆☆The latest in a long line of trashy action thrillers spearheaded by French producer extraordinaire Luc Besson, Camille Delamarre's Brick Mansions (2014) - an American remake of 2004 parkour-driven French adrenaline-pumper District B13 - is just about as mindless as they come. It's essentially a collection of shoddily edited action sequences, underpinned by a monotonous narrative that has no purpose, let alone moral heart to reward viewers' waning attention. The late Paul Walker, who tragically died last November, stars as protagonist Damien Collier, an undercover cop who accepts an assignment to infiltrate an infamous and high-risk housing complex deep within a fictional Detroit.

Relativity Media released their new action/drama flick, "Brick Mansions," into theaters this weekend. I just watched it, and thought it was very entertaining, delivering up plenty of hardcore action, drama, suspense, and a pretty good plotline. It stars: Paul Walker, David Belle, RZA, Gouchy Boy, Catalina Denis, and Carlo Rota. In the new flick, the plot revolves around dystopian Detroit, abandoned brick mansions left from better times, and now houses only the most dangerous criminals. Unable to control the crime, the police constructed a colossal containment wall around the area to protect the rest of the city. Undercover cop ,Damien Collier ( Paul Walker), eventually teams up with character, Lino, who was thrown in prison for killing a corrupt cop that got his girl, Lola, captured by a very dangerous drug gang led by Tremaine Alexander. The plan for Damien and Lino is to get Tremaine to disable a bomb they received,...

It’s a shame actor Paul Walker didn’t go out on something more substantial than the disposable action opus Brick Mansions. In the Detroit of 2018 police have constructed a containment wall around a massive housing project occupied by the most dangerous criminals to protect the rest of the city. Undercover cop Damien Collier (Paul Walker) and ex-convict Lino (David Belle), team up when drug kingpin Tremaine (RZA) kidnaps Lino’s girlfriend (Catalina Denis), then sneaks a nuke into the complex, straps it to a rocket and aims it toward the city.
Brick Mansions is a cheesy Canadian-lensed timewaster that plays like a PG-13-rated hybrid of The Raid and Dredd, but is actually a remake of the 2004 French film District B19 (in which David Belle played the same role). Brick Mansions isn’t much more than a stream of fight scenes and car chases. The most memorable sequence is the opening one,...

One of Paul Walker's costars, the rapper-turned-actor RZA, is remembering Walker as one of his last movies, Brick Mansions, is about to open. "We lost a good one," RZA said of Walker, the victim of a fiery car crash in November. The rapper, 44, was speaking before a screening of the film, which is about fighting crime in dystopian Detroit. "It's a loss first and foremost to his family, of course, but it's also a loss to the moviemaking community," he said. "I just wish, of course, that Paul was here to really represent this movie, because he had so...

I teared up during Brick Mansions. I know what you’re thinking – huh? But trust me, you may have a similar experience. The film, a remake of the influential French actioner District 13, marks one of the final big screen roles (and the last completed project) for Fast & Furious star Paul Walker, who died in a car accident last year. For me, the moment came when, after the final shot faded to black, a picture of the actor appeared on the screen, captioned with the words “In Loving Memory of Paul Walker.”
As he smiled out over the theater, many viewers stood to their feet, and we all applauded. For the first time since Walker’s death, I understood a little about the actor’s fans, and just how much Walker really meant to them. He was more than just another handsome A-lister with a devil-may-care attitude; Walker’s youthful features,...

David Belle is perhaps most well known as one of the inventors of Parkour, a holistic training discipline which consists of moving quickly and efficiently in any environment by using only the abilities of the human body. This discipline has since led him to becoming both a stunt co-ordinator and international movie star, grabbing the attention of audiences around the world with his role as Leïto in the French action flick District B13 and its sequel, District 13: Ultimatum.
Now, Belle has come to America for Brick Mansions, the remake of his French breakout film. Directed by Camille Delamarre, the actor plays the same character here, although this time he goes by the name of Lino Dupree. The story takes place in a futuristic Detroit that has long since become ravaged by crime and drugs. Lino needs to team up with undercover cop Damien Collier (the late Paul Walker) to...

A remake of the French action film District 13, Brick Mansions takes place in a futuristic Detroit that has been ravaged by crime and drugs to the point where it has since been walled off from the rest of America by the powers that be. RZA plays Tremaine Alexander, the ruthless crime lord of Old Detroit who is as cold as they come. His reign is threatened though by Lino Dupree (David Belle) and undercover cop Damien Collier (the late Paul Walker), two men from different parts of town who have their own personal reasons for wanting to take Tremaine out of the equation.

Paul Walker and his French buddy David Belle run around and fight people in two clips from director Camille Delamarre’s “Brick Mansions.” The film hails from Luc Besson’s assembly line of action moviemaking, which means crazy looking stunts and wild action with just a hint of something really great. It will never quite get there, mind you, but there will be moments when you think it just might make it. Anyways. Check out the two clips below and try not to get killed when you invariably run outside and attempt to duplicate the stunts. Silly kids. In a dystopian Detroit, abandoned brick mansions left from better times now house only the most dangerous criminals. Unable to control the crime, the police constructed a colossal containment wall around this area to protect the rest of the city. There be lots of fightin’ and jumpin’, and fightin’ while jumpin’ in director Camille Delamarre’s sorta-futuristic (though not really) actioner “Brick Mansions,” if these 8 new images are any indication. For you cool kids out there, it’s called parkouring (and no, it has nothing to do with eating pork). For the rest of you old fogeys, it’s very fit looking dudes jumping and fighting and jumping some more. Either/or. Please to take a gander at the new images below, take a ganderers. In a dystopian Detroit, abandoned brick mansions left from better times now house only the most dangerous criminals. Unable to control the crime, the police constructed a colossal containment wall around this area to protect the rest of the city. Undercover cop Damien Collier (Paul Walker) is determined to bring his father’s killer, Tremaine (RZA) to justice and every day is a battle against corruption.

Even though many of the films that Paul Walker starred in were action movies, including the entire Fast & Furious Franchise, he never really came across as an action star to me. The above trailer for Camille Delamarre.s Brick Mansions, however, doesn.t take all that long to flip that opinion right around. Tag teaming with Parkour founder and all-around badass David Belle makes Walker look like a superhero, even if it wasn.t necessarily him doing all of his own stunts. This trailer, via Yahoo! Movies, is most certainly Walker.s time to shine. Playing undercover detective Damien Collier in the film, he.s being sent into the titular neighborhood - an entire city block (or more) that.s been completely sectioned off and surrounded by giant walls, allowing the criminal element within it to do what they will. It.s no surprise that such a concept would come...

The late Paul Walker is in full action-hero mode in the new trailer for Brick Mansions, one of the final films the actor shot before his untimely death in November. As undercover cop Damien Collier, Walker teams up with ex-con Lino (free-running expert David Belle) to take down drug lord Tremaine (RZA) in the Detroit projects known as Brick Mansions. Oh, and said underworld kingpin killed Collier’s dad, has kidnapped Lino’s girlfriend, and is hiding a weapon of mass destruction. How’s that for drama?

This spring brings one of the final performances of Paul Walker in the action thriller Brick Mansions, and the new trailer has plenty of shooting and parkour chases in this remake of District B13, complete with Walker in typical tough guy mode as he and David Belle try to take down a drug kingpin played by RZA. For undercover cop Damien Collier (Walker) every day is a battle against corruption. For Lino (Belle), every day is a fight to live an honest life. Their paths never should have crossed, but when drug kingpin, Tremaine (RZA) kidnaps Lino’s girlfriend, Damien reluctantly accepts the help of the fearless ex-convict. Watch now! Heading into Us cinemas this spring, action-thriller Brick Mansions marks the final full performance from the late Paul Walker.
Inevitably, with the former film marking his final full role and the latter his incomplete final role, both Brick Mansions and Fast & Furious 7 will be inextricably bound with the actor’s tragic and untimely death last year.
Ever one to take up a challenge, Walker leads the American adaptation of Pierre Morel’s acclaimed French-actioner, District 13. And with the film soon heading into cinemas, the first domestic and international trailers have debuted online, along with the recent first poster.

Paul plays a fast-driving undercover cop in his very last movie. Will you see ‘Brick Mansions’ this April?
Paul Walker will always be remembered for steering the Fast and the Furious franchise, so it’s only fitting that his final movie – Brick Mansions – also features the late, great star saving the day from behind the wheel of a finely-crafted foreign automobile. The first official teaser for Paul’s last act, which opens in theaters April 25, has hit the web, and it looks just as heart-pounding as you’d expect from a Walker picture.
Brick Mansions tells the story of an undercover cop named Damien Collier (Paul), who teams up with average joe (David Belle), whose girlfriend has been kidnapped by the same drug lord Damien has been pursuing for years. Of course, once the enemy’s true plan is revealed, Damien and his regular-guy cohort quickly realize they’re in for a wild ride.

Brick Mansions, the English language remake of Europa Corp.'s successful District 13 series is also the last film that Paul Walker completed before his tragic passing. A little ham-fisted, but in that exploitation way that we all love, Brick Mansions looks like it could be a blast for people not farmilliar with the original series.

I can’t help but get a little sad watching this very kick-ass, off-the-wall, and completely ludicrous trailer for Camille Delamarre’s “Brick Mansions,” the Luc Besson-backed remake of Besson’s on “District 13″ French action franchise. The remake stars Paul Walker, and, well, watching him still in his prime in what will probably be a pretty good-sized hit is a little sad. This is one of those movies that will no doubt spawn a franchise. Or at least, it was. Check out the first trailer for “Brick Mansions.” It’s as colorful and crazy as you might expect, so if you’re a fan of the original films, this is basically the same movie, but with a Hollywood gloss.
