"Okay, dudes, let's walk this sucker!" Utopia & Altavod have released a new trailer for the 4K restoration of 80s cult classic Rad. This was originally released in March of 1986 during the BMX bike craze, and it's one of those cheesy-but-awesome 80s sports movies for-teens about an outcast who tries to beat everyone else in the big competition. Rad has since gone on to become a beloved cult classic, not only because it has a killer soundtrack and impressive stunts, but because it so perfectly captures the vibe of the 80s. And it's one of the only BMX movies ever made that treats the sport with respect. Starring Bill Allen, Talia Shire, and Bart Conner. The movie even has an Instagram and Facebook for those who are just catching up with it now 34 years later. If you've heard plenty about this, but never seen it yet, now is the perfect time to ride with Rad.

Kurt Thomas, who became the first Us athlete to win a gymnastics gold medal at the world championships, died Friday. He was 64 and died from complications caused by a basilar stroke last month.
Wife Beckie Thomas confirmed the news to International Gymnast Magazine. “Yesterday I lost my universe, my best friend and my soul mate of 24 years. Kurt lived his life to the extreme, and I will be forever honored to be his wife.”
Thomas competed in the 1976 Summer Olympics, then won a gold medal at the 1978 world championships for his work during the floor exercise. He followed that by winning a record six gold medals at the 1979 world championships, a record since tied by Simone Biles, who matched it at the 2018 world championships.
He entered 1980 as a strong favorite for a gold medal at that year’s Olympics, but was denied a chance when the Us boycotted the games.

Georgia native Trisha Yearwood still loves the comfort food of her childhood, so don't expect her to dump the dumplings anytime soon. But fans can expect to see a new and sensible approach to food and diet as her Emmy-winning Saturday morning Food Network series, "Trisha's Southern Kitchen," enters its fourth season.
The Grammy-winning country music superstar and New York Times best-selling cookbook author recently lost a substantial amount of weight, and Yearwood is looking forward to sharing some tips about that with her viewers.
"There's an episode this season called 'Healthy Twist' where we take some of the classic comfort foods and show how to make them in a much healthier way in terms of sugar and calories and fat, without sacrificing flavor," Yearwood tells Zap2it. "Also, what I have done to lose weight and figure out how to enjoy Southern food and not weigh 500 pounds is just balance.

Rad
Directed by Hal Needham
Written by Sam Bernard and Geoffrey Edwards
1986, USA
It’s going to take a lot more than skill for Cru Jones to conquer the toughest BMX challenge in the world. It’s going to take a miracle.
Rad, made three years after Nicole Kidman’s BMX Bandits, remains the most popular BMX film to date; which isn’t saying much since there have only been a handful of BMX films ever made. A product of the 80′s, Rad seems more interested in ramping up as much product placement as it could squeeze in, than in character development or plot – but longtime Stuntman-turned-director Hal Needham (Smokey and the Bandit, Cannonball Run) does the best he can with the script given to him. In fact, Rad fits so well into Needham’s oeuvre that it’s no wonder he offers a stunning opening 8 minute BMX montage and...

The champion swimmer's retirement so young might have surprised many. But she is not alone. Other athletes – and even a member of Wham! – happily did the same
It may be disappointing for the rest of us to see Rebecca Adlington retire, but we aren't the ones who have to get up at 5.15am each day to train. At 23, she simply feels too old to win the biggest races now, she says. "I hate the word 'retired'," she told her press conference. "I'm not retired. Even when I'm 90 years old, I'll still be getting in the pool and going for a swim." But loving what you do and loving winning are two different things. The second one has driven Adlington to become Britain's greatest ever swimmer. You could understand if the distant gleam of bronze is not, perhaps, enough to swap for another four years of her youth.
And she has plans.
