- Philip Coolidge was born on August 25, 1908 in Concord, Massachusetts, USA. He was an actor, known for North by Northwest (1959), Inherit the Wind (1960) and The Tingler (1959). He died on May 23, 1967 in Los Angeles, California, USA.
- Balding, lean American character actor who looked older than his years. Prolific on Broadway, from his first performance in "Our Town" (1940), to his last in "Hamlet" (1964). Specialised in serious or victimised roles, exacerbated by his furtive, hangdog demeanour. A reliable character player on the small screen, he made relatively few film appearances, but stood out in I Want to Live! (1958) and The Tingler (1959), as a homicidal silent picture theatre proprietor.
- Survived by a sister, Mrs. Helen Stevens of Perry, Maine; and three brothers, Dr. Thomas B. Coolidge of Chicago; Edmund J. Coolidge of Natick, Mass. and Francis L. Coolidge of Washington.
- Died sixteen days after Judith Evelyn, who played his wife in The Tingler. Both died at the age of 58.
