Exclusive: Raven-Symoné is extending her relationship with Disney, which she has called home for many years, with a new multi-year overall deal at Disney Branded Television. Under the pact, she will produce, direct, and develop projects across linear and streaming, with a focus on multi-cam comedies.
First off, she will executive produce and direct sitcom Alice in the Palace, which has received a pilot order. It is an Alice-centered spinoff from Raven-Symoné’s Disney Channel multi-camera comedy series Raven’s Home, which will not return for a seventh season. Its most recent Season 6 concluded its run in September 2023.
The deal with Raven-Symoné, which also includes continued acting and hosting opportunities, and the order for Alice in the Palace fits into Disney Branded Television’s strategy of building a new Disney Channel lineup of multi-camera sitcoms. In doing that, the company’s executive team has been leaning into classic Disney Channel IP.

From Friends to Fright, David Schwimmer is set to star in the second season of Goosebumps, the Disney+ series based on R.L. Stine’s popular series of books.
Disney renewed Goosebumps for a second season last month, with the series transforming into an anthology series rather than continuing the story of the first season. Here’s the logline for season two: “Teenage siblings discover a threat stirring, triggering a chain of events that unravel a profound mystery. As they delve into the unknown, the duo find themselves entangled in the chilling tale of four teenagers who mysteriously vanished in 1994.” The new season of Goosebumps will find David Schwimmer playing Anthony, “a former botany professor and divorced parent of teenage girls who is juggling the responsibilities of overseeing an aging parent while having his kids for the summer.“

The live-action TV series based on the Goosebumps books written by R.L. Stine that was released through the Disney+ and Hulu streaming services last October (read our review Here) drew inspiration from five of Stine’s Goosebumps stories. We’re going to have the chance to see more Stine stories brought to life, as Variety reports that Goosebumps season 2 has officially been given the greenlight – but the show is taking the anthology route, so we can expect a season that has “an entirely new cast and setting based on Stine’s iconic Scholastic book series.” Season 2 will also consist of eight episodes, two shorter than the first season.
The first season of Goosebumps centered on a group of five high schoolers as they embark on a shadowy and twisted journey to investigate the tragic passing three decades earlier of a teen named Harold Biddle — while also unearthing dark secrets from their parents’ past.

Bunk’d, which is currently the Disney Channel’s longest running sitcom, is to conclude after the seventh series.
From early 2000s classics like Even Stevens and Lizzie McGuire to The Suite Life franchise, That’s So Raven and the hugely succesful Hannah Montana (which was spun off into feature film Hannah Montana: The Movie in 2009), Disney’s formula of well cast, high concept sitcoms has put it at the top of the tween sitcom tree for several decades.
One of its more recent successes was Jessie, which provided a star vehicle for Debby Ryan after several years in The Suite Life On Deck.
The show saw Ryan play the titular character, who acted as a nanny for three kids – Zuri, Ravi, Luke and Emma, played by Skai Jackson, Karen Brar, Cameron Boyce and Peyton List, respectively. Jessie grew into one of Dusney’s most popular shows and eventually ran from 2011 to 2015.

Within the first five minutes of Disney+’s new Goosebumps adaptation, it’s clear that viewers are no longer in R.L. Stine’s creepy, scary version of middle-grade horror.
Developed by Rob Letterman and Nicholas Stoller, the show is one of the first real steps into the teen arena for both Disney+ and the book series. The new 10 episode horror comedy focuses on five high schoolers who find themselves in the possession of cursed or haunted items after one fateful night at a house party, the very place a young man died in a horrible and mystery fire years earlier.
A modern, Breakfast Club-esque ensemble that leans into suspense as much as laughs, this Goosebumps is an effort to not only serialize, but age-up its storytelling tonally — a creative move that repositions the franchise closer to Stine’s successful young adult horror series Fear Street, which was adapted in...

The two-minute trailer features callbacks to several classic Goosebumps tales, including “Welcome to Dead House,” “Say Cheese and Die!” and “The Cuckoo Clock of Doom,” and it also features an appearance from the iconic Slappy doll. Like the two live action movies we got in recent years, however, it looks like the series will not be directly adapting any of the books.
